X and Y Being Dads, Chapter Three: A Broken Soul, and Its Healing (TW)

-X didn't remember what happened to their parents. She didn't think too much about it, either. To her, it was pretty useless to think about it. She had to deal with a brat for a sister, after all. She never had to stop to think.

Well, until she met X. Mature, calm, and always trying his best for his loved ones... X never judged her for her past. She tried not to show how much he had subconsciously helped her, but it was like she was an open book, and he still never judged, always giving her a place to be herself no matter the situation.

She still remembered that rainy evening, when X had found her in an abandoned garage following an argument with -Y.

That day had changed her for the better, after all.

"I wish you could just die! You're nothing but a loser! "

-Y's words... They had stung her so hard...

Did her sister truly hate her that much? Was she truly a loser? Her only family, after their parents had left them... Even she thought -X was useless, so surely that meant something...

"-X?" a quiet voice made her look up to see X walking over to her.

She curled up even more, muttering, "L-Leave me alone... Y-You should take care of -Y."

"What do you mean?" X's footsteps stopped. What was she talking about?

"I-I'm a bad sister... My own sister hates my guts, and... she's better off without me," she admitted. Saying her thoughts out loud, for some reason, made her throat tighten. It hurt, it felt so so painful. She couldn't even breathe... Maybe it was for the best-

A gentle body scooped her up, and the next thing she knew, X was hugging her as he said, "You are not a bad sister. Personally, I believe you are acting too much like her parent, which is understandable, considering how you two were abandoned. It's called parentification."

"P-Parentification?" -X repeated.

He nodded as he continued, "It's when a child is forced to act like a parent. This can be due to abuse, neglect, or even... being abandoned."

His tone had softened there, and -X gasped a bit, struggling to get out, "W-What are you saying!? It doesn't change anything!"

"It does," he spoke calmly, yet she could sense some sort of warmth, a feeling of empathy in his tone. "-X, you've been carrying the burden of caring for yourself and -Y for so long, you can't trust others, and you have begun to believe that your worth is tied to how your sister perceives you. However, if I may be blunt... your sister is a brat."

Now that elicited a quiet snort. "That I know."

If he had a face, she was sure he would be smiling as he said, "Then you should know that your worth isn't tied to what she thinks. There is ... peace in knowing yourself, -X, and I know it won't be an easy journey. But I promise you that someday, when you look back on all the pains and sorrows, you'll feel that it was worth it. Because you WILL look in the mirror someday, and say with a smile, 'I am worthy of love despite what others say.'"

-X's eyes widened again, but this time, they softened as she felt tears falling down her cheeks, "X... W-Why do you care so much? N-Not even... not even my parents wanted me and my sister!"

"Because I..." his tone faltered here, yet he still managed to continue, "I see potential in you, -X. I know that someday, you can be a good person. And it won't be easy, but I will walk with you. every step of the way. I can promise you that. I'm a Tobot of my word, after all."

The tears weren't stopping, but -X found that she didn't mind. Instead, she hugged X, and sobbed, "T-Thank you... D-Dad..."

X just hugged back, patting her, letting her let out all the pain and sorrow she had been bottling up because of the harsh and cruel world.

But a seed of healing had been planted, and X was going to help it blossom into a beautiful tree, no matter what. That, he swore on his Mind Core.

Littlexheatwave Wow! This was a pretty big rollercoaster, but what do you think?

AN: I know that this is a pretty heavy topic that I chose. Parentification isn't an easy topic to talk about, yet I think that by talking about it, we raise more awareness. I'm sorry if I misrepresented it, and I am open to corrections!
