X and Y Being Dads, Chapter One: A Long Overdue Party
Sometimes, X wondered if Doun had one brain cell right; the hardships of being a parent. Not that he was going to take his creator's pathetic example of it. He had hurt Hana and Duri... He had done... so much to them. He was still in rehab, but the change? He hadn't heard of any significant changes. Doun hadn't changed at all... He feared that the most.
Would he inherit that bad parenting? Would Hana? Would Duri? Would Y?
The problem revealed itself when they met -X and -Y. X immediately wanted to take care of those rowdy children who reminded him of his partner and his brother's partner too much. Y seemed to feel the same way, because soon the two had their hands full.
At the back of his head, X worried. He always did, but this was a whole new world he was stepping into. How did you care for a child? How did you provide for its emotional needs? He wasn't programmed to be a parent. He was programmed to be a protector. A fighter.
He worried every night. What if he hurt them? What if his words traumatised them...?
This was clearly written on his face as he helped Y set up some things for the party -X and -Y wanted, and it worried Y, "Hey, X, you good?"
"Hm? Oh, I'm fine. Just... thinking."
"About what?"
"About... our father."
".... Cha Do-un?"
It wasn't said with any malice, but X knew how Y felt about him. Duri had been the most hurt by his actions, after all.
"More of... Are we worthy of being parents..."
"X..."
"I worry, what if we make them hurt, like how Doun had to Hana and Duri?" he began. "It's been on my mind for a while, but..."
He went quiet again. Thoughts circled in his head. He didn't want to be like Doun... He wanted to be a good parent. But what if? What if he wasn't one? What if he was doing it wrong? What if-
"Hey, chill," Y placed a hand on his shoulder. "We've got this. No matter how hard it is, we can do this."
"But what if we don't?" He argued. "We could... we could hurt them..."
"But we have our friends," Y reminded him. "We're not alone. And we can make mistakes but that's okay."
"Really?"
"Really. Just do your best. We'll all do our best too."
At that, X couldn't help the small chuckle that escaped, "I suppose you are right."
"Aww thanks," he smiled. "Anyway, let's finish the prep work, okay? The others can't distract -X and -Y for that long."
"Understood," X nodded. "Let's do this, Y."
"Yeah!"
And so the two worked. They set up the ribbons and the speakers. They coordinated with the others via text and made sure to check and recheck until it was all ready. The preparations were done!
Just in time, too, as the door opened to the base.
"What the-"
-Y couldn't help the squeal that escaped her lips. "Oh my GOD!!!"
"I-Is this...?" -X was definitely taken aback.
"We thought it would be just right to let you have it," X said. "I hope you l-"
-X and -Y surprised them both by hugging them, as -X muttered, "T-Thanks... D-Dad..."
"Yeah, thanks Dad!" -Y was much more open about her wording, and it made -X sputter angrily at her sister while the others watched.
"This is pretty nice," Duri smiled.
"Yeah, they deserve some fun, don't they?" Hana agreed. "At least we can provide that for them, huh, Duri?'
"You said it, Oppa."
Semo then wrapped his arms around Hana while Taeyang slung an arm around Duri as the four watched the Tobots party away happily. That night was pretty rowdy, loud, and boisterous, but it was worth all the racket. They were happy, after all. Let them have fun, the warmth they missed out on when their parents died.
Littlexheatwave I finally finished it! What do you think?
