The Siren's Melody

It started off like any other day. Everyone all around the world got up to start the day. Some slept in, some didn't have the leisure of doing that. Some were carefree as they went on with their lives, and others were trudging through it with exhausted bodies and souls.

That was life for humans indeed.

But what about those who aren't human? Those who are contained?

This is the story of one such creature, who met new friends during a certain breach...

******************************************

"There has been a breach of containment! SCP-7016-H has escaped containment! All members of the Pink Poodle Task Force are to deploy themselves!"

"Great, on the ONE day our leader has an off day, this happens," one of them grumbled as they began to suit up.

"We still have to deal with this, and you know that," another chided.

"Whatever, let's just get this over and done with."

"I agree with you on that statement."

******************************************

The earthquake shook the small town of Griffin Rock. It was mild compared to the worst ones in recorded history, but it still rattled people. Property damage was minimal, yet it would probably be the talk of the town and then fade off later on. A lot of weird things did happen here.

Then the singing began. Everyone could hear the soft singing, serenading away to reach their ears. It echoed throughout the town, making some stop and turn to the perceived direction from which it came.

Murmurs began to spread throughout the crowds still present amidst the mess.

"Should we check it out?"

"We need to help these people out first."

"But what if it's an injured person?"

No one seemed willing to risk their lives, and it showed. Human nature was that way, after all.

The only ones who would probably investigate the cause would be the Burns family of Griffin Rock, who had the help of intergalactic robots called Rescue Bots, and were determined to help others the best that they could.

"We need to go guys! I think the source of the earthquake is the source of the singing!" Cody Burns yelled out to his siblings and dad from the control center as they got ready to head off. After ensuring the damage to their home was minimal, he had immediately told them to head downtown to help the other citizens of the town and to investigate the singing they had heard.

"Let's go Heatwave!" Kade, the oldest child of the family, turned to his partner Heatwave, who nodded and turned into a fire engine before Kade hopped in.

"Blades!" Dani called out as she ran to her partner before getting into the helicopter.

"Let's do this Chase," Charlie, their dad, slid into the police car as he said this, making sure to buckle up just in case.

"Understood," Chase replied smoothly.

"Time to do our best then Boulder," Graham climbed up to seat himself inside the bulldozer form his partner had assumed.

"Alright, Rescue Bots, roll to the rescue!" Charlie called out.

"You got it!" the group chorused.

They soon headed to the source of the singing with Cody watching over them from home. Of course, they stopped to help others, but they were still moving towards the middle of the town.

The singing grew clearer and clearer as they neared, and it soon became clear that this person was truly the source of the earthquake; the closer they got, the scarier the damage was.

"This is unnerving," Kade mumbled, feeling shivers go down his spine.

"We can agree on that," Dani rubbed the back of her neck to soothe herself.

"Let's just get this over and done with," Graham sighed, exhaustion seeping into his tone.

The rest agreed, and they quickened their pace.

The four soon arrived at the scene, but what they saw was going to change their lives forever.

A red trident was held by a gloved hand that contrasted the bright color with its black as a creature sang, its melodic voice clear. A red-tail was prominently covering a part of the debris, and a red sweater covered (with the exception of a small space between the sweater's end and the tail) the body, matching well with the messy red hair. A pair of headphones were comfortably worn by this creature, accompanied by lab glasses and a single fang protruding out of the right side of its mouth.

The Rescue Bots let their partners down before transforming, and they could only stare in shock.

"W-What... What is that?" Heatwave gaped.

"It's not an Autobot..." Boulder whispered.

"Maybe we should call Cody for help," Charlie decided, and he tried to call the youngest, only to be replied with static. "Huh...?"

Just then, a net was launched from behind them, tackling them to the ground as the heavy rope pushed them down.

"What the?!" Kade struggled to get up, and turned around to yell at the culprits, but stopped as he saw just who had launched it.

The others followed his eyes, and their eyes widened.

"A-Are those poodles?" Chase gaped.

"And they're pink," Blades shuddered. "Hot pink."

Another net was launched, and this time it was aimed the creature's way. However, it dodged and hissed at the squad before beginning to sing.

Once more the earth shook, and everyone stumbled.

"There's no time to lose! We need to use all the power we have to get out of there!" Heatwave immediately got serious. "On the count of three, we push upwards! Get ready!"

The other three nodded in understanding before they positioned themselves.

"Alright, on the count of three! One, two, three!"

They immediately pushed against the ropes, and after a few minutes, the ropes went up. The four Rescue Bots grabbed their partners before ducking out of the way as they fell back down.

Once they regained their composure, the four Rescue Bots stood side by side and immediately rushed into the battle, dodging the debris and keeping their balance steady as they moved to where the creature was.

"SCP-7016-H! You won't escape this time!" one of the pink poodles yelled, and they all aimed their weapons at it, ready to fire.

But 7016 wasn't about to let that happen. With a high note, the task force was sent back flying, leaving the Rescue Bots with it on the field.

The four of them got into battle stances, but as they did, Charlie noticed something in its eyes. He had seen those eyes a lot in his time as a police chief, and he knew what they were.

Regret. Anguish. Guilt.

This creature probably didn't even know what it was doing. It didn't know how to control the power...

He then thought back to when it had been singing. A face of pure bliss, a smile on its pale face.

That's it. It just wants to sing without causing damage... And when someone tries to interrupt it... it goes into a blind rage.

Maybe that was what had triggered the earthquake.

"Hey, Dani, go get Cody," he said to his daughter, who blinked as she looked at him as if he had grown two heads, "Dad?"

"Go. Cody will be able to help us out with this for sure," he confidently told her.

She immediately understood and called out, "Blades, we got something to do! We gotta head back home!"

Blades looked at Heatwave, who nodded, before transforming back to a helicopter. Dani got on and the two sped back to the Burns home to get the youngest of the family.

The three bots left on the battlefield kept their distance, wary, alert in case it tried to make a move.

7016 didn't seem any happier with this set-up, though. Charlie was hoping this would last until Cody got here so they could talk to it.

The other two seemed to have caught on to what he was planning, and Graham looked at him, "I really hope this works."

"Same here, Graham. Same here," he looked apprehensive and hesitant about it, but he trusted Cody's ability to understand others, no matter who or what they were, would work out.

For now, the SCP was still singing. Anger was clear in its eyes, and the Rescue Bots were struggling to keep their positions.

Thankfully, the telltale sound of helicopter blades slicing through the air soon reached his ears, and he released a breath he hadn't realized he had been holding. All right, that was good.

The Rescue Bot landed and dropped off the two before rushing in to help the rest of the team.

Cody held his hoverboard, a frown on his face as he said, "Hey, Dad. I got the brief story from Dani on the way."

"Can you talk to it?" He asked his son. "I'm sure the others will be able to create a slot for you to do what needs to be done."

"I guess I can try," he put his hoverboard down before getting on and hovering a few inches from the ground.

"Guys, give Cody a chance to talk to 7016," Charlie called out to the other three, who shared a hesitant glance but nodded as they backed away.

"Will he be fine, dad?" Dani asked, a frown on her face as she directed it to her dad.

"It's Cody," he answered.

"Yeah, but..."

"It's Cody," he repeated it. "He's been through a lot. He knows how to deal with it."

Dani stared at her dad, mentally questioning whether it was to convince her or himself, but eventually decided that it was both; he was still the youngest of the Burns family, and everyone, even stubbornly tsundere Kade, cared for him.

So they could only watch, anxious, worried, jittery as they saw Cody approach the creature slowly.

"Hey there..." he called out once he was close to the SCP. He made sure to keep himself calm and steady. He was nervous, honestly, and it showed in the most minute ways; the way he played with his fingers, how he tried to avoid eye contact...

But he strengthened himself by reminding himself that this was probably someone scared. Someone who was lonely and needed someone who could understand and empathize.

It was something everyone should have, he honestly believed in that. After everything he's been through, he wanted to believe that this person could be helped.

The SCP stopped, and turned to Cody, blinking as it stared at him.

He gathered the courage and said, "You're lonely, aren't you? You just want a home, a family to love. I don't know what those poodles did to you, but it must have been so lonely... Dangerous or not, I believe you have the chance to be a better person. Maybe they have never tried to give you a chance, to teach you how to control your powers. But if you want... we can help. We can learn together if you'll let us help you."

The SCP's eyes widened, and the tremors stopped as it could only stare at him. What...?

Was he joking? He had to be, right?

He had to be joking about him. It wasn't actually true... right?

SCP-7016-H, named Firecracker, didn't want to believe this human's words. He didn't want to believe him, only to be sent back to the facility again...

Did he want to go back there?

No. He didn't want to. He hated it there. He liked the outside world, and he wanted to stay here. He wanted to live in the light.

This child... He was offering him a chance to do that...

He never realised there were tears falling down his cheeks until he felt himself shake, and even then he had dropped his trident.

"I-Is it really okay?" he finally spoke for the first time since he arrived in Griffin Rock.

Cody blinked, but nodded with a warm smile as he said, "Of course. I'm Cody by the way. What about you?"

Firecracker sniffled slightly, yet he wiped them all away and said, "Fire... Firecracker..."

"Firecracker? That's a really cool name!" Cody grinned.

Firecracker cracked a smile himself, "T-Thanks..."

"Hey don't sweat it," he waved it off.

The four could only exhale in relief as Firecracker got up to walk to Cody. Crisis averted--

Once again, a net was thrown, but thankfully the Rescue Bots had been nearby and saw the poodles try to throw the net again, so Chase immediately grabbed the two and dodged just in time.

"Hey! What was that for?!"  Kade yelled at the poodles, eyes blazing. They put his brother in danger!

Dani cracked her knuckles, while Graham's eyes narrowed and Charlie looked downright murderous.

"SCP-7016-H is dangerous," the one they could only assume to be the leader smoothly said. "We are grateful that you managed to lower its guard for us, but--"

"What are you talking about?! We didn't do it for you!" Cody yelled. "I did it because I wanted to be Firecracker's friend!"

"Friend?" one of them scoffed. "He breaches containment on a daily basis and causes problems for all of us. You have no right to say stuff like that."

"It's because none of you taught him to use his powers well! You're just as to blame for this!" he argued heatedly, making Heatwave whistle lowly as he whispered into Boulder's ear, "He's ticked and it shows." Boulder could only nod in agreement.

"Excuse me? We're the reason SCPs like him haven't destroyed the planet yet, and this is what you say? Unbelievable--"  the poodles were then scooped up by Blades' claw as the Rescue Bots decided that they had had enough, stepping up to protect.

Firecracker could only watch, eyes wide as Blades said simply, "If you ever put any of the Burns or their friends in danger, we will not hesitate to do what we must to you, so prepare yourselves. We'll only let you go this once, but next time we will fight for Griffin Rock and Firecracker if we must."

The other three nodded, and the poodles could see just how angry they were, if the aura they were emitting was any indication.

Thus, once they were set down, they scuttled away, leaving them behind.

Only then did everyone sigh in relief.

"Hey, you okay, Firecracker?" Cody asked him as he walked over despite the uneven surface.

"Yeah... Thank you Cody. Really," he smiled at his new friend.

"Like I said, don't sweat it," Cody stopped for a while, a contemplative look on his face, before he suddenly said, "Hey, why don't you join us then?"

"H-Huh?" Firecracker looked at him, confused.

"Why don't you join us in the Rescue Bots squad?" he offered. "We can figure out the logistics of your powers together."

"Wait really?" Firecracker's eyes widened.

Cody looked at his family, and asked, "Is it okay?"

They shared a glance before Charlie decided to speak for them and say, "If you're fine with it, Firecracker, right?"

Heatwave nodded, "Agreed."

"Then... I would love to join you," he accepted, a fond smile on his face as he said this.

The team grinned, and Cody said, "Welcome to the team then, Firecracker."

******************************************

Thus began a new life for the Burns family AND Firecracker, formerly known as SCP-7016-H. They had a rocky start, but with patience, love, and understanding, they will make it, for sure.

Would there be more SCPs? Was he the only one? What is the story behind the SCP Foundation, where Firecracker came from?

All answers will come someday, but this is the end of Firecracker's old story as he begins a new life in Griffin Rock.

Littlexheatwave Here's your request at long last! Sorry if there are OOC moments and weird stuff here and there. I did my best honestly.
