Free from His Control (2/2)
"Are you okay?"
Demon Taeyang looked up from leaning onto the railing.
Rosie walked over to stand beside him, and tilted her head slightly as the alien repeated, "Are you okay?"
"Do you expect me to be okay?" he snapped, but soon bit his lip immediately after. That wasn't the best thing to do, was it?
"I get it," she laughed lightly. "Don't fret over it. What's on your mind?"
"Nothing much... It's just that... How do I move from here?" he looked up to the sky, eyes growing soft. "After what I did... I know that you guys have forgiven me, but it still hurts. I know that it didn't change the outcome of your fight against Demonseu and how you guys won the fight... But I feel bad, and I wish... I wish I could have helped. You guys beat the strongest conqueror of the galaxy... And you did it together."
"That wasn't me, though," she denied. "It was Pilseung. He pulled most of the weight and helped us win that fight."
"It's still the same thing for me," he sighed. "You're not heading back anytime soon, though?"
"Nah," she shook her head, a genuine smile showing as she said, "I'm fine. I have friends here, and Unicorn is gone too, so Kongdu and I have nowhere to go. Limo-sshi is working on making documents for me and all that, but I already told him that it wasn't needed. He and Duri declined that five times."
She then huffed slightly, "But it would be nice to see what Taeyang, Pilseung and the others learn. I'm particularly keen on beating up the people who dare hurt my friend."
Demon Taeyang cracked a smile. After the Demonseu mess, Pilseung had convinced Taeyang to be open about his past, and he had divulged his story to them.
Needless to say, there were angry people, there were those who hugged him, and there were tears.
The tears that should have flown out years ago.
"I'm glad that life seems to be looking up for you," he said.
"Same to you," she looked at him.
He laughed, mirthless tone clear as he said, "Say that after you know what it's like to be lost, wondering what you want to do for the rest of your life."
"O-Oh..." she went quiet.
Demon Taeyang then kicked himself in his head. Not cool! he reprimanded himself. Rosie had lost her dad to Demonseu, had lost so much, had probably struggled a lot more than he could have ever imagined, and here he was, acting as if her trauma was better than his--
"You don't have to know the answer to that now."
He stopped.
H-Huh?
Rosie turned to him and smiled gently, "When I first came to Earth, I was brash, arrogant, and lost. Unsure of my purpose. But as I interacted, as I grew here, as I lost... Viking Nine..."
Here her tone faltered, but she quickly picked up the pace to continue, "I grew close to them and realised... that I had a home here. Even if I had nearly killed Taeyang in my deluded mindset that he didn't deserve to wield Galaxy Weapon 1, he forgave me and led me to be the person I am today. And maybe... it was a good thing that Unicorn was destroyed. My father looked down on Earth for so long... But I realised he was wrong. So I want to make a life here. I want to live on for all the people of Unicorn, and also for myself. I want to create my own life and path, and find my purpose there."
"So, like I said, you don't have to know why or how or what. Maybe it's hard to look past your mistakes, but you WILL make it. I'm sure of that," she turned to him, a genuinely sincere smile on her face.
Demon Taeyang's eyes widened, before they slowly, but surely began watering up as he felt the rain crash down.
He had been alone all his life, and yet... these people accepted him.
He rushed forward and hugged her, and even though it was muffled by her sleeveless white shirt, she could hear him sob out thank you for everything they had done for him.
Then, two more people joined in, and Demon Taeyang actually looked up to see two familiar people, "Taeyang...? Pilseung...?"
"Us Galaxy Weapon users should stick together, fake or not," Pilseung grinned softly at him.
"And that's a promise," Taeyang said, tightening his grip on the hug.
Rosie laughed, wrapping an arm around their waists before the four just dissolved into the hug. It was warm, kind, and just... there.
They loved it. Very very much.
And so they stayed like that until Duri called them back in.
DountOwl Here it is!
