Facing the Past, On(c)e (and) For All, Chapter One: I'm No Longer Your Puppet
Kenzo tightened his fists. It was time.
Standing in front of him was the person who had caused so much pain to him... the one who had invalidated him and his dreams for years...
"Kenzo, my son."
His father.
He scowled, "You."
"Don't give me that tone," he scoffed. "You're the one who disappointed me."
Kenzo scowled at him. How low could one go? He had figured out that how he had been treated was wrong, so wrong, when talking with his friends, and he never wanted to go back there.
No way. He never wanted to forget that he had family and friends. This person wasn't family. Not by a long shot, at least. Not anymore.
"Excuse me? I'M the disappointment?" he snapped. "You're the jerk who's been pushing what YOU want onto me. What YOU couldn't get you wanted to achieve through me. You acted as if you were doing me a favour, but you were only doing one for YOURSELF."
"HOW DARE YOU--"
He cut him off with a cold glare, which made him falter and a sense of pride and determination bloomed in his chest as he got into a battle stance, "I won't let you hurt innocents anymore! You're a villain, so I'm going to fight for everyone in this town!"
"A villain?! How dare you!" His father's eyes BLAZED in anger upon hearing that. "You got some nerve you weakling! I'm going to make you ever regret saying that!"
"Bring it!" he taunted. Okay, maybe he was spending too much time with Bakugou Katsuki, but right now, his emotions were leading the charge, and he felt great.
He wasn't the puppet he was when he was a kid. He wasn't the kid forced to kill all feelings in order to make his father proud. No longer.
He had cut those old strings off, and had taken up his own strings.
What he should do wasn't what his father expected from him.
No, it was what HE wanted to do.
His father had been a toxic influence on him. He had treated him like he meant nothing aside from achieving the dreams he had not been able to reach.
No more. No more was he going to let the nightmares, the words, this person get in the way of his dreams.
He was going to be a hero. One who saved others.
And the first step to do that... was to rid himself of the burdens of the past.
Activating his Quirk, he closed his eyes before he opened them to show his glowing fists, akin to boxing gloves, "Bring it. I'm not afraid of you."
OcarinaDude13 It's short but I think it should work. I hope you like it!
