A Sinful Reminder, Part One: Past Pains Relived

What if one day, your friend just... Disappeared? How would you react? And what if when you see them again... They're no longer themselves? What happened to them? Can you reverse the changes? What if.... A human had done this to them? Would you be able to handle knowing how cruel humanity is? Would you be able to live with yourself if you had to make a tough decision? Perhaps the answers lie... in A Sinful Reminder.

Being back felt awesome to Shiramon. Sure she had died to save the world from the Sin Code within her, and sure she had remembered the darker memories first before the lighter ones, but now she was no longer chained by the strains HE had placed on her. What used to be HIS partner, a Labramon, had been altered but the modifications had led, one way or another, to the safety of the world.

Looking up towards the sky, the wolf assassin Digimon could only smile while basking in the sunlight. Nearby, she could hear her partner, Hoshi Mei, packing up some clothes and other necessities she needed when she went to New York. Shiramon had been there before her sacrifice, and while she honestly had wanted to go, Mei had shot down the idea faster than a roadrunner. "You're still healing emotionally, remember?" She pointed out. "Plus, three weeks isn't a long time."

"Yeah I know, but still..."

"Hey, the others will definitely take good care of you," The brown-haired female smiled as she patted her head slightly. Surely a difference from when she had first revealed herself to her in that church; cold, indifferent, focused on getting revenge on the Digimon that had taken her brothers that fateful day, nursing a hatred to those who tried to befriend Digimon like Hiro, Ruri and Kiyoshiro. Shiramon was so grateful that they had helped her during the Envy arc. It allowed her to open up and heal the scars that had long festered. "Don't worry about it."

"I guess," she finally smiled at her. "Alright, stay safe."

"You too," Mei chuckled as she grabbed her suitcase and wheeled it out of her room. Shiramon followed to see the others there too, all waiting to say their goodbyes and see you soons.

"Stay safe kiddo," Akashiro Ismaya ruffled her hair while his gender fluid child, albeit adopted, agreed, "Don't do anything stupid."

"That's your thing, Taiyou," Mei teased him, making him sputter with a red face.

Hiro gave her a hug and said, "Have fun okay?"

"We'll take good care of Shiramon! Don't you worry about it!" Ruri agreed.

"Indeed, we won't let you down!" Kiyoshiro reassured her.

"Thanks you guys," Mei gave them a smile, a genuine one before she was then tackled to the ground by the 40-ish slim- I mean, baby Digimon as they wished her a safe journey. Some were crying and asking her not to go, while others were just chill with it. It just showed that each of the babies Shiramon had adopted over the course of time were unique and it was wonderful.

The others could only chuckle before Ismaya slung his bag over his shoulder and said, "Come on, I have to drop you off before I head out of town for some clues on Hokuto's disappearance."

"Let's go then," Mei smiled, waving at the others as the two exited the door of their shared apartment, with the others watching.

"Okay, so we all agreed that she's staying with Hiro, then Ruri and then Kiyoshiro?" Taiyou asked the kids.

"Yep!" Hiro nodded.

"Totally!" Ruri grinned.

"We will do our best to protect her!" Kiyoshiro placed a hand over his heart solemnly, unaware of just how much foreshadowing had been done...

2 days afterwards, Shiramon and her husband Angoramon were headed for their Digimon meeting. The two had been prominent members during the Sin arcs, although during the final arc Shiramon had been taken over by WrathIramon, her other side who she had taken to calling her sister, much to the other's slight embarrassment. While she still refused to admit anything about her feelings for the others, Shiramon had a gut feeling that she was getting more comfortable with them.

"The air is nice," The rabbit Digimon chuckled as he turned to her.

"Yeah it is," Shiramon agreed with a smile. She really enjoyed times like these! It allowed her to calm down and remember the amazing people she had by her side. Even after the... destruction, she had caused as Malicemon.

Her footsteps slowed, eyes glazing over as she remembered that day, when she had died. Malicemon's laughter as she watched the people she cared for all writhe. Not her, but still...

Angoramon noticed her slower pace and he looked over. "Shiramon?"

When she didn't reply, he gently nudged her shoulder. "Are you okay?"

"H-Huh? O-Oh, y-yeah!" She nodded.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Yeah totally!" She smiled a bit stiffly and moved past him faster. She couldn't make them worry. She had done that one too many times with all the drama in the Sin Arc. She had sworn to never again give them creases.

He frowned, noting it but decided to leave it for now. She knew to tell him if there was anything  wrong right? He was her therapist after all.

She didn't, though, and the price she would pay for being selfless would be dear...

The two soon arrived at the meeting, where some friends were setting up. Kinkakumon was the first to notice her self-proclaimed rival, and jogged over as she greeted, "It has been a while, Shiramon! I am glad that you are well!"

"Thanks!" Shiramon answered with a smile as she gave the taller Digimon an awkward hug, which was answered even more awkwardly by the fighter Digimon.

The others soon noticed and they crowded over her slightly, although they did make sure to keep their distance to give her space. The former Wrath Sin code holder was enthusiastic in answering their questions, from how the babies she cared for were doing to how the other Tamers were. Once the large group of Digimon finally dispersed so they could start the meeting, Shiramon took a deep breath. By association, she had never done well in closed-off spaces. After all, her experiences with.... HIM... Had... Had...

She shook her head vigorously. No, she couldn't go down that thought process. No matter what, she was going to stay calm. She was going to get better. She was healing and she would make it.

As she took a seat, the topic switched over to the rebuilding. Some new camps were being established for Digimon that had been thrown into the human world by the mysterious portals that still plagued them, and others had been rebuilt following the final Sin Code Battle.

"It was really hard, but we made it," Monzaemon spoke in a calm tone.

"Malicemon really did a number, didn't she?" Ginkakumon yawned, unaware of the sharp glance Angoramon was shooting him as Shiramon felt her throat constrict.

Malicemon... She had been that... Monster, who had hurt all the people she had cared for...

"Gin!" Kinkakumon seemed angered by his insensitive wording as well. "Shiramon is here!"

"That was really insensitive," Reppamon agreed. He knew more than anyone how the damage they themselves had inflicted could cause emotional turmoil. "Apologize right this instant!!"

"But it's the truth," He drank some beer from Hiro's supply as he spoke. "She nearly turned the world into her playground. A world of destruction."

"OTOUTO, QUIT IT!" Kinkakumon snapped. "You are not to insult Shi-"

"It's fine," She held Kinkakumon back. "He's not wrong... I-I just need some air."

"Shiramon..."

"You don't have to follow," Shiramon smiled at her husband. "I'll be fine."

".... Alright then. Call me if you need anything okay?"

"Of course!" She nodded and walked out of the meeting room, leaving them to glare at Ginkakumon with an angry look.

As the wolf Digimon entered the nearby park, she tried to control her breathing, willing her chest to inhale and exhale, allowing the tense muscles to breathe as well.

Once she felt the tightness disappear, she sighed in relief and was about to go back when she noticed something.

Her parental instincts were going crazy now. Who would leave a Digitama like this?! Honestly, she thought BlackTailmom Uver had more tact!

As she walked over to it, hoping to take it home, she stepped inside a circle surrounding it, and when she tried to take it, her hand.... It passed through.

She realised too late that it was a trap before she fell.... And fell.... And fell...

Until she hit the ground and hissed in pain. What the...?

Once she looked around, her face paled. No... No... Suddenly, her mind began to play tricks on her. Her spine stiffened. The world felt like it was closing in on her, making her curl up, fear and anxiety flooding her nervous system and leaving her paralyzed. So scared was she that she couldn't see the red specks that hung on the ceiling of the small room.

Outside the virtual space, though, a familiar scientist was looking at her latest experiment in glee. Tsukumo Azami had finally done it. After all the hard work she had put in to learn more about these creatures, these wonderful, beautiful anomalies, she had finally gotten one! Oh, the amount of things she could learn from her.

All her life, Azami had lived up to her family's expectations. Good scores, a good daughter... No one had prepared her for the science world. The moment she had been rejected by experts, her family had turned their backs on her. She had lost so much, so she refused to back down now. Not when it could win her family back.

"Alright, let's have fun~" She smiled before she cracked her knuckles and began tapping into Shiramon's programs. On her screen, there was a plethora of zeros and ones, but as she looked around, one unique line stood out to her, making her click on it to reveal a seal.

Feeling the seal being opened, Shiramon's panic increased tenfold. "NO NO NO!!! STOP STOP STOP!!! IT HURTS DON'T DO IT PLEASE IT IS DANGEROUS!!!"

"Dangerous? Ara ara," She smirked, liking the sounds of that. The more dangerous, the more glory she could get when she tamed this beast. It was sure to  destroy all doubt in her!!!

Ignoring the pleas that had turned into screams of pain, Azami zoomed into the code and rewrote it slightly, allowing it to be opened at long last.

Malicemon's code had finally been reactivated.

The screams turned into screeches, incoherent ones, as inside, the mutating Digimon's code got hit with the specks of red, causing her eyes to go red while gaining a pair of blue and white antennas. Wings grew out of her while some horns drilled their way to the surface. What used to be Shiramon was now unrecognizable, only filled with a frequency that forced her into a feral mindset.

Must. Get. Out!!??

The computer cracked and then broke as she finally got out of the computer, startling Azami who fell over and hit the ground, "Ow ow ow!! What the-"

The moment she saw the beast, crawling on the wall and hissing like a feral tiger, though, her eyes widened in shock. This was... Was this all they were? Savage beasts?!

Nearby, Clockmon was doing his usual patrols when he heard the sounds of breaking glass nearby, and when he looked over, he gaped. He knew that place! It was the house of the lady who had taken Morphomon!

What nonsense had she done this time?!

Deciding to check it out, he flew down and smashed the window open, "Hey Lady what are you-“

It was like his time had been stolen all over again when something slammed into him, sending him to the ground as Shiramon growled above him, but soon flew off before he could get her, leaving him there in shock and without words.

What the... Why was Shiramon...

As he got up and peered into the human's room, though, he blanched, disgust and rage filling his body. He knew that monitor! And judging by her behaviour and the antennas...

"Lady, you did it again?!" He snarled at Azami, whose eyes were wide. They really were beasts! Evil incarnate!!

"This is a real discovery! I must tell the military at once!" Her face was gleeful, almost ecstatic as she rushed to the phone in her room, only for Clockmon to slam his Chrono Breaker at her in order to stop her. It did, thankfully, and the former time reaper knocked her out with a technique he had learnt from Mei and Mummymon before exhaling. This was NOT good... He had to call the others.

Luckily for him, everyone was actually meeting up at Eos' place after Angoramon told them what had happened during the meeting.

"Ugh! Ginkakumon went too far!" Hiro snarled. He shouldn't have given his dad's alcohol to that lazy brat!!

"And she hasn't come back either... Worrying, indeed," Bokomon nodded.

"She'll be fine... Right?" Kiyoshiro asked them all, but was met with silence. Frankly, no one knew what had happened to their canine friend, and it worried them.

Just then, a frantic knock on the door made Bakumon float over and answer the door to see a panicked Clockmon, "Clockmon what-"

"That lady... She did something to Shiramon! And now Shiramon's gone wild!"

"WHAT?!"

A few hours later found them at Azami's house. Azami had been convinced to tell them what she had done, and honestly? Everyone was downright appalled by her. Kiyoshiro had puked. Ruri was seething in rage. Gammamon and Pumpmon were crying for Shiramon. Bokomon held such contempt in his eyes as he glared at Azami. Jellymon's face was contorted with pure disgust at her actions. Not even she would go this far. Angoramon's angry aura could be felt from his silence. Eos was holding back their anger.

Hiro? No such restraints existed for him, shown when he literally walked over and PUNCHED Azami, sending her to the ground as his face was dark. Darker than even Gulus... He had never felt this much anger at anyone in his life, not even towards Dracmon and Ryubo.

"You think that you did an amazing thing? You didn't. You STARTED THIS, and yet you seem convinced that you can be humanity's saviour from the monster YOU CALLED OUT. I have no respect for you. In fact, I can only hope you suffer for all the bad things you have done in your life, because you hurt MY FRIEND and no one gets away with it. NO ONE GETS AWAY WITH HURTING MY FRIENDS. I will hunt you down. I will make you scream, beg for mercy. And I will not give you that. You never gave mercy to Shiramon. You ignored her pleas, you were ECSTATIC about the danger. You wanted to tame Malicemon? Heh, don't make me laugh. You're a pathetic excuse for a scientist. You're not even one. Just one who has the title but doesn't live up to it. Every scientist knows to look at human rights before doing anything. And you may not think they are living, but they are, and they are NOT evil. They are not abominations. You are. You and everyone else who thinks they're above everyone else and because of that you think you can destroy lives and make them stepping stones. I don't ever want to see you again. If I ever find out you did this again.... I will not hesitate to make your life unbearable."

And the way he practically whispered the final few sentences sent chills down everyone's spine, bringing dread to them as they finally remembered that while Amanokawa Hiro was usually a pacifist, he was NOT a coward. He had grown in the Sin Arc, and it showed. Heck, Gulus shivered from within the Digivice.

"Do I make myself clear?"

"I-I-"

"DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?" he repeated as he raised his voice, making Azami flinch. She had made the wrong move. Normally, Hiro was amazingly patient, but right now, with his friend hurt, he could not afford to waste time on this lady.

"Y-Yes..." She finally agreed.

"Good. Makua, get evidence to lock her up for good." He turned to Eos. "We'll go search for Shiramon."

"U-Understood," Eos nodded. The junior detective was definitely a tiny bit scared of Hiro. They swore to themselves from then on to never ever get on Amanokawa Hiro's bad side, unaware that Ruri and Kiyoshiro plus the Digimon had decided the same thing.

"Good," He nodded, and then sighed as he slumped. He was just so tired. Why this? Why couldn't life be nice on Shiramon for once?

He really wanted to know the answer to that, but unless there was some sort of miracle, he wouldn't get the answer he oh so desperately desired.

Well, that's it! I know this chapter is wayyy too long, and I'm sorry about that. As I said I switched things up from the RP we had done, like who had made the comment, added some dynamics I thought would make sense, and even put some additional detail. Of course, your feedback is greatly appreciated, and I'm willing to make the shifts if needed. venusaura I hope you like it!
