Teaming Up and its Two Endings (+ A Little Stowaway for @kwhel22)
(The above is for kwhel22)
"NO!"
Bella and Adorabat were frozen. Their words were in unison, and fear shone in their eyes more than they usually allowed. How couldn't they react this way? Their mentors, their FAMILY, were on the brink of death, getting closer to the pit of lava. They were out cold, unable to fight their way out. They didn't even know that they were going to die!
"AHhahaahaahahh!!!!" The man laughed maliciously. "This is such a wonderful scene!! They're truly pathetic. How can they call themselves legends when they're dying so pathetically? Gosh, they're truly useless! Weak!"
The two's heads swivelled over to the male, eyes twitching in annoyance and anger. How dare he laugh at them like that?! He was the one who got them into this mess in the first place! He was the pathetic one here! The weak one!
At that moment, they realised.
He HAD to pay.
At all costs.
A brief meeting of eyes made that clear. A plan was formed through it.
And thus, upon facing him, they both tackled him to the ground, attempting to retrieve the remote from the mastermind.
When he tried to dodge, Bella stomped on his foot. A roar of pain sounded out in reply. This gave Adorabat the chance she needed to snatch the remote from his hands. Then, Bella knocked him out with her hooves, causing him to slump down to the ground, passed out.
"What are you waiting for, you idiot?! Press the button! We have to save them!" the lamb yelled at her companion- no, friend.
"One problem, Bella! I don't know which button to press!" Adorabat shouted back.
"WHAT?!"
The bat groaned, "I'll try to find it, but it'll take a lot of guesswork! Hold on tight, guys!"
Her claws nimbly began pressing buttons at random, mentally praying that it would be the one every time.
However, the first few tries were not successful. Not only did she nearly kill them by abruptly moving the cage up and down like some sort of maniac, she also caused flickering lights and random movements from objects in the room.
"GAHHHH!! WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING BATTTT?!" Bella demanded, trying not to throw up.
"I told you! I don't know how this works!" her companion flailed her hands in the air in surrender.
"Argh! Let me do it!" the lamb roughly grabbed it from her and went into a button spree.
Press, press, press.
The world faded into the background.
It was only her and Adorabat, pressing buttons.
They couldn't hear, see, feel anything.
They were so focused on their task; to free their mentors.
That focus was what helped them find the right button to press in order to lower the cage away from the lava.
This was what flooded their hearts with relief.
They were safe....
Their journey was over...
Right?
Thank Yous
"Alright, they're okay now, so what should we do about the guy-" An enraged scream cut off Bella's words, making them turn over to see Roxanne and him on the ceiling, trying to escape.
"THIS ISN'T OVER!" he threatened before they jumped over, disappearing from their sight.
Adorabat snarled, ready to chase after them, but Bella stopped her, "It's pointless, Adorabat. What would we gain?"
".... True...." she sighed in defeat. "Let's get our mentors out of this dump then."
"Agreed," Bella nodded.
With that, they collaborated once more to drag their mentors out of the strange underground lair they had been imprisoned in, using all the energy they had left to do it.
"Haaaa," Adorabat smiled, clearly relieved that their mentors were okay now, while Bella wiped the sweat off her eyebrow, mentally agreeing with her.
As glad as they were, though, both had to admit, albeit a bit begrudingly, that it was only possible thanks to the other. They had been through a lot together. They had helped each other out.
In a way, they had grown closer.
I should probably thank her....
The two turned to each other, clearly uncomfortable but ready to get it over and done with.
"Look Bella.... I know that before this we didn't really see eye to eye- Well, actually, we STILL don't see eye to eye- but I want to thank you for all the things you have done for me. You're... You're really smart...." Adorabat admitted.
"Same here... You don't make me gag as much as before," Bella huffed slightly despite the small smile on her face.
"So.... Friends?"
"Friends I suppose," the lamb smiled before they both shook their hands, sealing the deal just like how they had started their alliance, and went away with their confused mentors.
When asked what happened, the only response they got was "I made a new friend that time."
Faked Kidnap?!
"H-How did you do it?"
The two turned to the cloaked figure, who was staggering up, and immediately stiffened. What did he want?! What did he have planned for them?!
"How did we do what?" Bella neutrally questioned, keeping her tone stable.
"How did you get through all this?" he repeated.
The two looked at each other before Adorabat answered, "We worked together. Was it not obvious?"
"Worked together huh.... Interesting...." he paused slightly. "I'm impressed."
"H-Huh?" the two blinked. He was impressed? Whatever for?
"I don't get it," Bella frowned.
"Neither do I. What are you talking about?" Adorabat crossed her arms.
The cloaked figure only chuckled before lifting his cloak, revealing.....
They both gasped.
"King Snugglemagne?!" Adorabat looked stunned.
Indeed, it was the ruler of Pure Heart Valley himself, who had told them that he had no idea where their mentors were just a few hours ago. It appeared that he had been the one antagonising them all this time!
The regal lion smiled gently at them, "I apologise to you ladies for lying to you. I truly never wanted to lie to you, but your mentors specifically requested that I help them, so who was I to deny that request?"
"Our mentors?" Bella's eyes widened.
The king nodded, motioning for them to look back.
When they did, they gave a start seeing their mentors get out of the cage easily, as if it had never been locked in the first place. Wait, scratch that, as if they hadn't been knocked out in the first place!
"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!" Adorabat demanded. She was so so confused now. She didn't understand what was going on here! It was all so confusing!
"It's a long story," Orangusnake chuckled goodnaturedly.
"But to cut it short, we got into an argument regarding you guys," Mao Mao began.
"We wanted to see who was better between the two of you," Ratarang admitted.
"So we set all of this up to see who would find us first," Boss Hosstrich laughed.
"Never expected you guys to work together, since it was a competition, but well, all is well in the end," Badgerclops rubbed his head sheepishly.
Okay, if they were relieved at first, they were now FURIOUS.
"So wait a minute. Are you telling me that you made us go through all those horrible things while worried SICK for you guys, basically TOYED with us, had us walk SO MANY MILES, nearly die MULTIPLE times, ALL FOR A STUPID COMPETITION?!" Adorabat screeched in absolute fury.
They all paused slightly to load that before they shrugged, "Yeah."
That just confirmed their death wishes.
"NO NO WAIITTTTTT!!! SPARE US, PLEASEEEE!!!!!" the adults pleaded their case as they dangled over another alligator pit. Sweat was falling down their faces, showing just how terrified they were.
However, the two just made eye contact once more.
Then, they rolled their eyes. They chose the wrong time to beg for mercy.
"Wanna go have some ice-cream? I know this awesome cafe with out of the world flavours?" Adorabat offered.
"Sounds like a plan, pal!" Bella grinned, linking arms with Adorabat.
The bat grinned back before they walked away, leaving their mentors screaming for help.
Well, until someone eventually found them and rescued them.
Was that likely?
Nope, not in the slightest.
The End
