The sound of a door sliding open got Rook Blonko's attention, causing him and his partner Ben Tennyson to look up from their individual activities.

Rook noted that it was Ben's grandpa, Master Tennyson himself, with a blonde human he had never met before. She looked a bit skitterish, he observed mentally, but she seemed different from the other humans he had met. (Not a lot, though.)

"Who's this, Grandpa Max?" Ben blinked, sipping on his smoothie while his emerald green eyes regarded the girl beside his grandpa. Sharper forest green eyes met his gaze sharply, making him nearly tumble off. That gaze spoke of repressed anger.

"This is Rose Knight. From today, she is going to be part of your team," the Master finally introduced.

Rook's interest had been piqued. She was going to be part of their team?

"Why don't you introduce yourself then?" Ben sipped on his smoothie slightly faster, stepping back warily. He didn't know what this lady's business was, but it was clearly good if his grandpa trusted her enough. Didn't mean he couldn't be alert, of course.

The girl had her eyes on someone else aside from Ben, but she still did it, "Rose Knight. Your new teammate."

"She's somewhat like Gwen, Ben," the one who's called Grandpa Max by his grandkids explained. "She has powers, and they will come in handy when you fight against villains."

"Fascinating," Rook smiled as he took a step forward to her. He remembered what Ben had taught him about manners, which showed when he bowed towards her, "Welcome to the team. I am Rook Blonko, though commonly known as Rook. My other human partner over there is Ben Tennyson. I apologise for his rudeness. He may seem abrasive, but he's really good with what he does."

"We'll see then," Rose bluntly replied, but allowed a smile to grace her face as well as she held her hand out. "Rose Knight, as mentioned. I apologise for my own rudeness. Admittedly it was unneeded, so I apologise if I have made you feel uncomfortable."

"You have not done anything of the sort at all," he reassured her. "You have just come here, so it would be rude for us to treat you coldly."

At that, Rose flushed slightly. Hearing Rook's words made her heart flutter in a way it hadn't before. The scars in her heart weren't throbbing as hard as they usually would, either.

What was this magical effect he had on her? She had never felt this way with other people before. Who was this Took Blonko guy? How did he magically break her walls down so fast?

She wasn't sure, but Rose was going to get to the bottom of this. How Rook was doing this would be her ultimate personal task for now.

But first, she had to get to know him. Only then can she find out.

Thus, she smiled softly, "T-Thank you for your forgiveness."

Every plant begins with a seed. When a seed is planted, it must be nurtured so it can grow.

Every relationship is like that, but there are some that become trees. Great trees that signifies the surmountable love one could have for another.

This meeting, between Rook Blonko and Rose Knight, is one such story.
