Panoramic Photo of You (Teen!Katie Forester x ChildhoodFriend!Reader)
"Wow, this is amazing!"
You smiled as Katie marveled at the view of Springdale from the mountain temple. It felt nice to meet her again after so long. After she had moved here due to her father's work, you could only talk to her through emails and the such. While it was a bit slow since your hometown was quite rural, you didn't mind since it still got to you.
You thumbed the camera you were holding nervously. You had to admit that you were a bit jittery, and it made sense since it was the Year End today. A week before, you two had agreed to meet up here in Springdale, so here you were, watching her.
You remembered when you were a child. She had been the first to befriend you when you were a loner. With no friends, no one to lean on, without worrying about the bullies who could go after her for befriending you, she had held her hand out to you.
From there, the world you had viewed as small became bigger, and it only grew when you got into photography. You still recalled clearly the day you had come to meet Katie at your usual spot, holding your very first polaroid camera excitedly.
That very same day, you found out she was moving away, and the smile you had worn dropped into a shocked one. Your eyes had been wide, unable to believe what you were hearing.
But you had gotten used to it, and now here you were with your childhood crush.
That day, you had not said anything, still in shock over her words.
Now, you had everything ready. You had waited, dreamt of this day. The day you would confess your feelings to her.
"Hey Katie," you finally called out to the girl.
"Huh?" she turned around, and you quickly snapped a photo of her. She gaped, "Hey! What was that for?"
Your throat went dry, but you swallowed your fear. You could do it.
The polaroid came out, and you took it out as you stepped a bit closer to her, saying, "Katie, I... I got you a present."
"For Christmas?" she tilted her head, looking confused.
You shook your head, "No, as a see you again promise. All those years ago, I hadn't told you something. But now... I can tell you freely."
"That I... I love you, Katie Forester."
Right on cue, you two heard the fireworks bursting in the sky, and their colorful sparks lit up behind her, illuminating her shock perfectly.
"Y-You do?" she finally managed to continue as the fireworks show continued on.
You nodded, feeling a bit numb, "Y-You helped me a lot, Katie... I-I really love you to the ends of the earth. So... Will you... be my girlfriend?"
You had said it.
Her eyes widened, but soon they softened, and she reached forward to take you into a hug.
She felt so warm, like a mother's.
"I... Of course! I-I definitely want to!"
You couldn't help but sniffle when you realised what this meant.
The tears fell, and you brought Katie in even more, relieved and happy.
You were so happy as the year finally came to its end at midnight.
