Origins, Part 4

"What did you gather us for, Keita?" Hyakki-hime, otherwise known as Damona, crossed her arms towards the prospective Enma guardian as the two plus all of Bloom's friends, including Corren and the other human guardians, stood in front of him and Enma-daiou in the palace.

Enma had a look of disdain on his face as he stared at Corren. Every single cell in his body was telling him to just obliterate the villain right there on the spot, but he held it in, remembering that this was for his precious flower.
Keita clearly approved of this as he gave a small smile to the ruler before turning to the rest, inhaling, "Well.... The reason I called you here is because......" He paused slightly, trying to form the words in his mind, "Something.... New has happened which..... INVOLVES Bloom."
All of their faces turned worried in a flash. What had happened to her?
"Keita, what happened to Bloom?..." Lisa, secretly Bloom's sister and Enma's personal assassin, inquired, hazel eyes so much like Bloom's staring back at the chocolate-eyed Keita.
"That.... Is a long story..." Keita sighed, trying to keep his emotions in check. He knew that losing his mind would not help the situation at all. He had to stay calm for Bloom's sake.
"Yo, Keita, I hope this isn't a prank," Ricky, the Pretty Guardian, frowned as he looked at the soon-to-be guardian. Keita was known to pull strange pranks at times, and Ricky had pranked him before he went on vacation. For all he knew, this could be revenge!
"Ricky, it's not. Trust me, I wish it was. Truly do," the first watch holder in a while rubbed his temple.
"Is it that bad?" Corren asked, now concerned for his sweet light. His light blue eyes bore into Keita's, demanding an answer.
"Well....." Keita looked at Enma, who rubbed his eyes before turning around to get Bloom, proceeding to turn back to the others. "Please hear me out, no matter how strange it sounds."
"Youkai exist, Keita-kun. Everything about them is perplexing anyway," Misora Inaho rolled her eyes playfully, laughing a bit in the process. "Nothing can be that perplexing, can it?"
"I guess so?" Keita was confused over this display, but took it as her way of lighting up the atmosphere. "Thanks. Anyway....."
He then told them all about the myth, and how it had turned Bloom into a baby. He tried to be as detailed as he could to avoid too much trouble, and said that they had to take care of Bloom until she returned to normal.
"Even if some of you are evil, I trust you enough to care for her," At that, his eyes flashed to Corren for a while. "But no funny business. If I suspect so, I will give you three warnings before you're kicked out. So please...."
Out of nowhere, he suddenly went to his knees, doing a full now towards the huge group, "I'm begging you! Please! Help her relax! Do it for her, not me!"
Hearing that, the group looked at each other. Keita was not the emotional type, so to see him do this.... They knew that he loved Bloom with all his heart, even more than he loved himself.
And so, Lisa, choosing to represent them all, stepped forward and held her hand out to him, "Well then...." A minuscule grin appeared, "We should get started as soon as we can, right?"
Keita's eyes widened, watering a lot as he spotted the others nodding along to her words, "G-Guys...."
"She's done so much for us. It's time for us to return the favour," Ricky agreed.
"Kyu!" Ashley cheered.
Keita wiped his tears away, a smile, true, pure and genuine, appearing at long last on his face, "Alright then guys! Let's do this!"
"AH!" They roared in unison.

And so it began. Their quest to care for a baby  Bloom went underway. When he wasn't at school, Keita was monitoring the work, making sure that there were no attempts on Bloom's life while setting up guard watches so he wouldn't have to ask Bloom to take over anymore. He knew what he did wrong, and he was determined to fix it while he had the chance. Of course, he didn't tell anyone that the bags under his eyes were due to restless nights spent on planning the guards and talking it out with the candidates, but no one asked due to the sheer rush hours everyday.
Eventually, five days flew by quickly, and Bloom returned.
It was kinda out of nowhere. Keita had been working on the final blueprints when an excited shout echoed out from Bloom's room.
Soon afterwards, the door to his room in the castle was slammed open by an overenthusiastic Ricky.
"DUDEEEEEE!" He rushed to Keita, the glee in his eyes distinctive. " THE BEST THING HAS HAPPENED!"
"W-What?" Poor kiddo was still disheveled from the slamming and the noise.
But that all disappeared with Ricky's next words.
"SHE'S BACK! BLOOM'S BACK!"
In a flash, Keita was gone, rushing to Bloom's room with no limits. His brain was on overdrive. He couldn't understand the feeling in his chest. But he just ran and ran.
Once he got there, he slammed the door open to....
To a confused Bloom sitting on the bed, still in her pyjamas.
All his fears, regrets..... They melted away with one glance.
"IMOUTO!" Keita POUNCED on her, hugging her with all the might his scrawny arms could muster. Tears fell down his cheeks. His sister was back. His beloved sister was back....
"Oniichan? What are you doing?" Bloom blinked, hugging him back in confusion. "And when did you get back from your trip?"
Keita was too busy hugging her. He was just so relieved, "Thank goodness... I thought I lost you forever..."
"Huh?" Bloom looked so confused, but just decided to ask later.
Keita's sobs made tears fall. He had been so worried.... He had been scared that she wouldn't remember him (a possible side effect).
But it didn't matter anymore.
Because she was back.
Back in his arms.
And that was all he ever wanted at the moment.
