Fashionable on Halloween

"My loved one, Ms L, you look simply stunning this evening!" Dimentio praised his wife as she stepped out of the changing room. Linen was all over the lime bunny's body, wrapping it tightly in a hug that would only be released once the festivities of 31st October wore off.

Her smile was obvious even behind the linen, "I could say the same for you, Dimentio. You look absolutely dashing."

"What are you talking about?" He guffawed at her words. "I am but a simple skeleton."

"And I have to say it matches you a lot," Ms L teased.

He blushed, but hid it as he said, "Well, teasing aside, it's time to go to the Costume Ball! Come along, my wife! We must not be late!"

"Of course, my husband," she smiled, taking his outstretched hand before the two headed out of their house to head to the ball's venue, which was only a few blocks away.

While walking, they saw the little worker bees buzz around, scuttling about to get the most candy at the end of the night. It was quite adorable seeing them dressed in various outfits, to be honest, but they kept a low profile. After all, they were still villains. Even if this night was different from normal, they didn't want to attract the wrong kind of people.

They soon reached the venue of the Ball. The huge abandoned factory loomed over them, sinisterly telling them to come in. It really felt less like a Costume Ball and more like a Horror Booth. They were a bit worried that they had gotten something wrong, but a quick check on the invitation confirmed that this was the actual place.

"How are you feeling, my bunny?" Dimentio looked at her. He was worried that she would feel anxious and worried about this ball. Not that he didn't feel the same way, but he wanted to comfort her, being the loving husband he was.

"I'm somewhat good," she mumbled. "You?"

"Not to fret, my other half," he gently grabbed her hands, acting out of character as he said, "I shall protect you should anything go wrong."

She blushed, "T-Thank you Dimentio."

"It is nothing compared to the beauty that your emerald orbs are," he smiled, gloved hand feeling her face as he spoke.

Her cheeks went even redder, "I-I am really honoured that you think of me that way."

"I am but a humble lover of yours," Dimentio bowed once more.

She giggled quietly, "I could say the same about myself, you know. I would die for you."

"I am aware, but I would destroy the multiverse for you," he teased.

She laughed, "Alright then. I'll give in this once since we have a Ball to get to. Now come, let us show them our flair!"

"Indeed," he nodded, and so the two stepped into the so-called haunted mansion.

The ballroom had been decorated to look spooky, yet as they looked around, they felt strangely calm instead of frightened like before. They soaked in the atmosphere, smiling pleasantly at anyone who passed them.

"Oh you're here! Mkay, this is great!" A familiar voice echoed, and they turned to face one of their former comrades, Nastasia, as she jogged over in a rock and roll outfit.

"I did not expect this from you, Nastasia," Ms L mused to the blue-skinned secretary.

She laughed, "Trust me, it was all Mimi."

"She looks tots good in this right?!" Dimentio nearly got a heart attack as said person popped up behind them, wearing a human spider outfit.

"You must not surprise me like that!" the jester tried to command her, but she shrugged, "Oh come on, it's not that bad!"

"Hafta agree with the gremlin there," O'Chunks guffawed as he joined them, dressed in a farmer outfit. "Yer expression was priceless y'know!"

"This is even more priceless," Ms L smirked. "Why the farmer outfit?"

"It's comfy!" he shrugged.

"I picked them out for them! They're real neat no?" Mimi asked.

"Yes they are," Dimentio grinned. "I am simply amazed by your fashion sense, Mimi. It appears that it hasn't faded at all."

"Aw shucks, stop it!" she waved it off. "It's tots nothing. They're my friends!"

"You have a brain despite all the cotton inside, ya know that?" O'Chunks fondly ruffled her hair, letting her small braids float for a while.

"Mmhm," Nastasia nodded in agreement. "I have to agree with that. I mean, this rock and roll outfit is really nice. It's not too revealing, yet it's also comfy."

She blushed, "T-Tots not cool! D-Don't make me blush!"

"Why not?" Ms L grinned, choosing to join them in teasing her. "You do need an ego deflater once in a while."

"I could say the same to you!" she protested.

"Now now, Mimi, my wife has done nothing wrong to you," Dimentio stepped in.

"He has a point, ya know," O'Chunks chuckled.

"Tots mean!" she stuck out her tongue despite the red tint that had overtaken her green-skinned face.

Nastasia let a smile show, "Alright, you bunch of children, stop fighting. We're here to celebrate Halloween, not to squabble like headless chickens."

"Who're yer calling chicken?" O'Chunks gaped like a guppy.

"Not cool, Nas! Not cool at all!"

"If I'm a chicken, then they're the idiots," Ms L smirked.

"Ms L is right," Dimentio cackled. "We are nothing like you."

"Take it back!" Mimi protested, eyes narrowing.

"She's right! Yer worse than us!" O'Chunks threw his hands into the air to emphasise his point.

"Eh, like we care," Ms L stuck her tongue out.

The atmosphere was tense. Nastasia didn't know what to say to break the ice. She could only watch both sides, already seeing the imaginary static between them.

But then, out of nowhere, the group burst out into giggles, and she felt the stress on her shoulders leave, allowing her to feel relief. It had all been for show. She knew that their bond wasn't that easy to break.

"I haven't heard your roasts in such a long time, and it's still as salty as ever," Mimi grinned. "I missed it!"

"Yer still the same," O'Chunks smiled.

"I am pleased to see that you are still the same," Dimentio grinned, happiness -- not his usual kind, but the sincere kind he only showed to his close friends --  dancing in his eyes.

"Gotta say it's nice to know that you guys don't care that we're villains," Ms L reciprocated her husband's feelings, smiling. "But anyway, let's get this party started!"

"Yeah!"

The night was filled with cheers and happiness, and if they looked back, they would mostly remember the warmth they felt from their friends as they spent time together despite all their differences. As their friendship grew on the 31st of October, AKA Hallow's Eve.
