Diverged Path (Last Chapters Special)

When Ryukyu saw the sludge attack a civilian, she didn't hesitate. She swooped down and kicked the sludge villain away with all the might she had.

"Yeowch!" the villain flew straight into a wall. "That hurt lady!!"

"Don't you lady me when you had the guts to hurt a child for your twisted needs," she growled.

"You'll pay for that!" the sludge villain attacked her, but she dodged and got a container out. This villain had reached the last straw!

Just then, another punch sent it flying, and the child fell to the ground, unconscious, as the sludge turned into a pile of goop that didn't move. For now.

She blinked, eyes wide, "All Might?"

The Number One turned to her, a confused look on his face, "Ryukyu? What are you doing here?"

"I was chasing the sludge villain. Thank you for stalling it though," he answered, also thanking her for the quick save.

"It's no problem. It had attacked a child, and you know I have no qualms about eliminating anyone who does that," she accepted. "We should store this villain in here, though."

She held out her container, which was waterproof and new too. It would be perfect for storing the villain.

"That would be perfect," he smiled, and she was struck by how quiet he seemed. It could be that it was just the two of them, but it felt like he was putting on a mask whenever he went on stage... A lot of Pro Heroes (the less professional ones, if you asked her) accused him of being mentally ill, but right now, she could only see the brokenness in his eyes.

Something that she had never stopped to think about.

Maybe... there was more to him than he let on.

Just then, they heard a groan and turned to see the child waking up.

...

Hold on, his hair and freckles... made him look like he was actual broccoli.

Ryukyu's mental sanity went down a bit more due to this cuteness. Must... resist!

She barely managed to stop herself from rushing over and squishing his cheeks, and it was a good thing she had because the kid had recognized them and was now babbling away about how amazing they were, especially All Might. Huh, was this kid a diehard fan?

"D-Do you think I can be a hero?" he suddenly asked, and then looked down. "K-Kacchan thought I can't because I'm Quirkless... B-But I want to help others and comfort them with a smile! L-Like you two! Y-You're so amazing! D-Do you think it's possible?"

She stopped, and her eyes caught something in All Might's eyes too.

Was that... guilt? Why would he have guilt?

But she saw the spark in his eyes. The spark that didn't listen to anyone and worked hard to where she was now.

And she knew that this kid needed someone to back up his dream, whether anyone liked it or not.

"All Might, I think that he would make a wonderful hero," she turned to him. "I'm sure he'll make it. Quirkless or not, I'm quite sure he put the risks into mind when he decided this. Right kid?"

He nodded ferociously, "I-I'll do my best! I-I might have a lot of catching up to do, b-but I'll do my best!"

And there it was, the spark in All Might's eyes.

He didn't shout, he didn't laugh a laugh that made her feel like it was fake.

No, he just squatted down, and met eyes with him, a smile on his face, "Shounen, reach for the skies."

And then, a huge puff of smoke erupted, sending the two of them flying.

Ryukyu instinctively protected the child, hugging him close to his chest. Another villain attack?!

No, as the steam dissipated to reveal the source, Ryukyu realized that it wasn't a villain.

It was All Might, who had lost all buff and looked like a literal scarecrow, staring at them terrified, as if they were going to laugh at him.

The two of them could only stare in shock before the child erupted into a yelp of "WHAT!?"

~~~---~~~
"So let me get this straight. You were Quirkless? And you're part of a line of heroes with this Quirk?" Ryukyu's mouth was open. Never in a million years would she have expected that
All Might, or rather Toshinori Yagi, nodded, "I am. And the result of fighting the antithesis of my Quirk... well... is the form you see now."
After putting the sludge villain in jail, they had headed to a beach with a lot of trash, where they were currently at, eating some bread along the way.
The child, whose name was Midoriya Izuku after introductions, stared at him with fascination in his eyes while munching on his own bread. Somehow, if it was humanly possible, the kid's respect for All Might had skyrocketed. "Wow, that's so awesome!"
"I can assure you it's not, but... thank you," he smiled gently as he ruffled the greenette's hair. "You are quite the child yourself, Midoriya Shounen."
"Oh, y-you can call me Izuku if you want!" he stammered, his face going red.
"You can call me Yagi then," the One for All user chuckled seeing this.
"And you can call me Ryuko," Ryukyu smiled at the two.
The two turned to her, and Izuku's eyes were wide, "I-Is that really okay?"
Ryukyu smiled, "Of course. Even you, Yagi-san."
She knew that a lot of the heroes had gotten him wrong. They had thought he was two-faced. And whether she herself wanted to believe it or not, she had too.
But now, it was her chance to change that, "I'll be there for you, and you'll be there for you. I'm looking forward to it."
Yagi's eyes widened, before they glistened and he smiled, relief in his tone, "I'm looking forward to it too!"
Izuku nodded excitedly, and he rushed to hug the two of them, "T-Thank you for saving me!"
While taken aback for a while, the two eventually let up and the three hugged well into the sunset. It was so warm and like home...
That day, a family was born. A family tied with everything but blood, but a family that would work together and always have the others' backs in every fight, every smile, every tear that is shed,
Prompt: What if Ryukyu saved Izuku instead of all might?
Notes: I admittedly tweaked it. But I did my best on it. Hope you like it! You can also use this as a story prologue!
