Bonding in Worrying Times, Part Fourteen
"E-Excuse me?" Acnee looked surprised for once. Not the usual mock-shock, but actual disbelief over his determination that seemed to come out of nowhere.
"I'm not repeating myself. I will defeat you, even if it takes my life away. It's..." He paused, eyes growing jaded. "It's the least I can do for Duri after all the things that has happened."
At that, she snorted, trying to mask her true feelings; this small anger in her chest seeing his determination. Some sort of envy that stemmed from past memories, "Since when did you care for others?"
"Don't say that like you know me personally," his eyes narrowed. "You're not winning me over again. Stop using your words."
"Huh," she smirked, even though her eyes told a difference in her emotions. "I'm a bit hurt, but you sound unsure."
"Of course I am," he slid his right foot back, hands out, ready for combat. "So you better watch out."
"Heh, whatever. You and Cha Duri will fall eventually."
"We won't. We won't fall like you did."
Her eyes grew furious. Her logic faded off the moment he said that.
Past memories fuelled her jealousy and anger. He wasn't falling!
She screamed in fury and lunged for him.
Reflexes kicking in, he ducked, and consequently let her hit her head on the control panel, which was made of metal, I might add.
She crumpled to the ground, some blood flowing out of her head as she lay in a slightly crouched position. If anyone else walked into this, they would have thought she was dead at first glance.
Thankfully, Nebok could see that she was breathing, soft gusts of carbon dioxide exiting her nostrils and humid air entering her lungs, which relieved him.
Wait, should he give her first-aid?
He frowned, looking at her in focused contemplation.
Ah, whatever, he groaned to himself. I have to do the right thing.
Now, where on Earth was that first-aid kit?
