Bonding in Worrying Times, Part Fifteen
"He's gotta be around here somewhere! Find him you fools!"
As the voices and footsteps faded away, Duri inhaled deeply, leaning on the wall in relief. He had somehow managed to delay them, though they were bound to find him eventually. He didn't dare to hope for rescue. He had to get out of here.
But first, he had to calm down.
Breathe in, breathe out.
He focused immensely on that, allowing his five senses to come alive like detectors.
His posture slackened. Nature played its wonderful melody as he felt himself falling into his subconscious mind.
Diluk's voice grew softer by the second, bringing relief to spread across his body. At least he was safe for now.
But he still had to look for Nebok and get out of here.
He shifted comfortably out of his calmness, converting it into some focus energy as he scoured the area.
No footsteps were heard.
But he felt some vibrations towards his direction.
People? Could they be working for Acnee?
Pressing his back against the wall, Duri kept his breathing level despite the jumble of theories bursting out of his head like fireworks. Slowly, his eyes opened.
And saw two males staring back at him.
Silence. Dead silence.
Duri's eyes then went wide in disbelief, while his brain felt so overwhelmed he couldn't say a thing. He just closed his eyes for a few seconds, a few seconds, and this was his reward?
Great job, Duri, his brain sarcastically applauded. This is perfect. Just. Perfect.
What kind of life had he lived to deserve this?
Wait, he didn't want to answer that.
Argh, my life is a total mess, he mentally groaned, massaging his forehead slightly.
In those brief seconds, he had forgotten that he had an audience.
"Hey, you okay?" The blonde male asked, tilting his head in confusion. The white streak in his hair looked so out of place among the strands of yellow which reminded him of sunflowers in a way, causing Duri to stare at that in fascination and a bit of embarrassment. Being caught this way was not on his to-do list.
"I think he's staring at your little white bulb, Beom-ah," his maroon-haired friend chuckled, an amused glint in his slightly scarlet eyes.
"We had this talk, Young!" Beom protested, looking disgruntled and annoyed. It was a topic they frequented a good amount, he supposed.
"But it's cute!" He grinned, winking a bit at Duri, as if he expected the caramel-eyed male to understand his intentions.
"No, it's not!" The blonde bit his lip.
"Yes, it is!"
And poor Duri, standing there?
What on Earth is this chaos?
