"Hey, Connie, whatcha doing?"

"Ahhhhh!" The Indian-American girl screamed in horror as she jumped and turned to see her lovers staring back at her in confusion. "S-Steven! Spinel! What are you?!"

"We came to visit, of course," Steven smiled at her, his chubby cheeks showing themselves. "You didn't pick up the phone."

Spinel only nodded in agreement, a small smile on her face.

The human girl smiled nervously, "O-Oh...."

"When your mom told us that you were studying, I was shocked," the teenage boy admitted. "I mean, you gave up on it right? So what ARE you doing?" Curiosity was shining in his black eyes, making her even more nervous.

"I-It's nothing...." Connie tried to close the book quickly, but the older male's sharp eyes caught some words that reminded him of Gem language before it did.

The wrong things connected in Steven's mind. 

A grin made its way onto his face, "Oh, so you're learning Gem language, Connie? You should have asked me. I could have helped you." 

"H-Huh?" the human female blinked, eyes conveying confusion. What was he talking about? "No, you're-" 

"No need to be flustered," the hybrid smiled sincerely. "We should practise now, shouldn't we?"

Before Connie could even say anything, he had started speaking, the words tumbling out like building blocks. 

Her head spun. Her eyes began swirling as she grew dizzy, unable to comprehend his words at all, even though it sounded somewhat like Korean. It was just so... So headaching!

Noticing the spirals, Spinel tilted her head. Why did Connie look so strange? Could it be...

Could it be that she WASN'T learning Gem language? 

Now perplexed and confused, the gem with the upside-down heart leaned towards the book that had been shut hurriedly. 

Then, her eyes widened in disbelief, going red in the process.

She mentally facepalmed. Gosh, they had it all wrong. She wasn't learning Gem language! No wonder her face was the epitome of confusion. 

"Doll face?" she called out to the overenthusiastic male.

"Yeah, My Spinel?" he turned to her, blinking at her. 

Spinel was sweatdropping as she pointed towards the book, looking away to hide her red face. 

"Eh?" the hybrid leaned in as well, just like how Spinel had a minute ago, and, also like the full gem, he went red. However, this time, it was out of embarrassment. Finally, the actual pieces fit together. 

"A-Ah... S-Sorry... I-I didn't realise.... You were learning other languages..." he mumbled an apology. 

"I-It's fine...."she waved it off, her red face now scarlet. 

"But why?" Spinel asked her. 

Connie looked down, clearly ashamed, "I-I wanted to make it up to Steven.... I-I was horrible to you.... All because you wanted to protect us...." 

"Connie..." Steven's eyes softened seeing her so weak... So frail.... 

"I-I also wanted to show you guys that I loved you.... I-I didn't want to be a burden to you..." 

Hearing that from her mouth.... It really touched the two. They loved her just as much as they loved each other, even if she was horrible to Steven for a certain time. So to see her working this hard no thanks to her guilt which never seemed to fade....

It broke their hearts. They both knew that most people took Connie as the third wheel, but they loved her....

Steven sniffed, "Oh Connie... You know that I've long forgiven you..." 

"So have I..." Spinel huggged the Indian-American, giving her heart a warm and fuzzy feeling. "Don't you ever think that way again, okay?" 

"We love you very much, Connie. Don't you ever forget that," Steven joined the hug, making his Jam Bud tear up. 

"本当にあいしてる! Hontouni aishiteru!" she whispered into their ears. 

They didn't need a translator for that. 

"We love you too, Bubblegum," Steven smiled before their hug grew tighter. 

They may have had their rough patches, but in the end, they found each other. 

That's all that matters to them.
