A Ninja in Love, Chapter Two: ... And then We Fell in Love
"Take THIS!" Zephan swung his kusarigama to call out his thunder strike against the robots, stopping them once and for all as they exploded into shrapnel. The sounds of cheering could be heard as he left the battlefield, landing in an alley before he ripped the black mask with some yellow highlights off, allowing himself to breathe once more.
"Wow, this time around it wasn't easy," a familiar voice admitted, and he turned to see his fellow Ninja, who had shed his own mask. Randy Cunningham leaned on the wall, a relaxed smile clear on his face as he greeted his friend.
"I know right?" Zephan nodded. "It was really hard. I'm guessing it will only get harder from there."
Randy nodded, face growing serious. He knew what this meant more than anyone else did. "We should be prepared for anything."
"Agreed," Zephan nodded back. "Anyway, let's get some lunch. I'm starving!"
"You read my mind," Randy laughed, and the two soon walked off.
They had to split up because Randy had to get some things from his locker so he wouldn't have to make detours after lunch, and Zephan waved him off before walking to the cafeteria...
Only for him to come face to face with Morgan.
He actually froze up on the spot.
Shoot shoot shoot, she was still as beautiful as when he had seen her for the first time.
He had met her a few times in class, and he had been amazed at how passionate she was about dancing. When she danced, his face grew red, and his heartbeat grew so fast.
A week of this happening, and Randy had told him ever so bluntly, "That, my dear Zephan, is called a CRUSH."
"Why would I want to crush her?!" he had yelped out in shock.
After some explaining that was split between Howard and Randy, he finally understood what it meant.
And boy did they tease him about the explosion of red on his face that day for WEEKS.
Now, it was just him and her.
The two of them...
His face nearly exploded in red again, but he held it in and mentally told himself that no, he was going to face this head-on--
She suddenly grabbed his hand and dragged him away from the cafeteria, her grip iron and unwilling to let him go.
He pulled at the hand slightly. What was going on? Was she okay!?
Morgan didn't stop until they reached the janitor's room, and she opened the lights, pushed him in, and let herself in before locking the door quickly.
He had to swallow back the lump in his throat. Whether it was of fear, embarrassment, anxiety, or anything, he didn't know. Really. He didn't.
And it scared him.
She then turned to him, and under the dim lighting, he could have sworn she had a slight flush on her cheeks.
"Okay, I'm going to make it short. Are you the new Ninja who's been showing up?" she suddenly asked him.
... What?
He SQUEAKED as her words processed, and quickly covered his mouth. How? How had she found out? Had he given it away?
"I saw you and Cunningham taking your masks off on the way out of the toilet. And judging by your reaction, it's true," she crossed her arms.
His fingers began brushing themselves against his palms. What should he do? What would she do with that information? If their enemies-- no, if his mom found out, the two of them would be in so much danger.
Would she tell the world? Expose them? Let their enemies attack them and possibly kill them--
"I won't tell anyone, don't worry."
He stopped, and his fidgeting stopped.
Did he hear her right?
She looked away, "I mean... I'm a fan of yours. Not really of Cunningham, but you're a really cool person. I... I've always found you, both in your ninja and normal self, amazing for always standing up for what's right and protecting others. So... if it helps... I-I guess I won't tell anyone."
His eyes widened, and he looked up to her to see her face a total tomato now.
"T-Thank you!" Without thinking, he raced forward and hugged her, smiling as small tears fell. He was so relieved. He was so happy.
And in the spur of the moment, he whispered, "I love you Morgan... I love you very much."
Morgan gaped slightly, but she soon understood. They loved each other. And that was enough for her.
Awkwardly, she slowly hugged back, and sunk into his embrace, "Same here."
If tears fell down her cheeks, happy of being accepted, who would judge her? Definitely not Zephan.
Because love is all about accepting the other, flaws and all.
OcarinaDude13 I hope it's good enough.
