Defenders: 9

It was a Saturday and Foggy decided that he and Matt were going to introduce Karen to some of Matt's friends. Karen was excited, she was meeting them at the office and her, Matt, and Foggy would walk to one of his friend's apartment where everyone would gather.

The blonde met Matt and Foggy outside the office and the three of them walked over to Matt's friend, Jessica's apartment. Jessica's apartment was more of an office, with the words 'Alias Investigations' on the front door. There was a bedroom and a kitchen off to the side of the main room, which held a desk and two couches.

The minute they got in the door Matt flopped onto one of the couches, face down. "I hafe e'ryfink," he mumbled into the cushion.

Jessica Jones was lounging on the other couch, a large black man next to her. They were sharing a bottle of whiskey. Jessica laughed softly before replying to Matt, "Don't you always?"

Karen introduced herself to Jessica and the other man, who she learned was called Luke. Luke said they were waiting for a few more people. Karen asked what they were doing after these other people came. Jessica laughed.

A teenager bowled into the room, going to sit on the couch that Matt was laying on. Karen was about to warn Matt what was coming when Matt rolled out of the way. Karen couldn't help but go wide-eyed, Matt was blind, how did he know the teen was coming.

"Oh, my gosh. Today was terrible," the teenager sighed.

"What did they do today?" Jess grabbed the bottle of whiskey from Luke's hand and took a huge gulp.

The teenager ran his hand through his short brown hair, "There was this lady, like 40-something, pulled three diapers OUT OF THE PACK and tried to buy them." He put his head between his legs. "I want to scream. Like a lot of screaming. Many screams."

Karen was confused. What was this teenager doing hanging out with a whole bunch of 20-something's? He couldn't have been older than 16 or 17 and he even has a shit retail job, shouldn't he have friends his age.

"Who is that?" The kid pointed at her. Karen had claimed one of the corners and was just sitting there, observing.

She gave a little wave. "I'm Karen Page, Matt's friend."

"Oooh, Office-Karen. Yeah, Matt talks about you sometimes. I'm Peter Parker," Peter told her. Matt was still flopped on the couch, looking very squished. Foggy was standing by the door. Luke and Jessica scootched over to make room for the man who walked in.

"I hate life." The man looked about 20, maybe younger. He took the seat next to Jessica and took a sip of the alcohol. "Who are you?" He inclined his head towards Karen.

"That's Office-Karen," Peter said, lifting his head from in-between his knees. "She's really nice."

"You literally talked to her for 3 seconds," Jess said as she grabbed the bottle back from the man. Peter threw his shoe at her, the dark-haired woman fumbled with the shoe before it fell onto the ground.

Karen was very confused at the group's dynamic. Everyone was sprawled out drinking, except for Peter, who was definitely too young to drink. "So, what's your name?" Karen motioned to the blonde man next to Jessica.

"Oh, I'm Danny," he waved at her.

Karen was beginning to feel like she didn't know a single thing about the scenario. "So what do you guys do when you get together?"

"Drink and maybe do some screaming, it depends." Matt stood up and sat down next to Peter. The blind man moved quick and smooth, repositioning himself so that he only touched the kid with one leg. Thus Karen knew that it was Peter who pulled himself into Matt's lap and sat there, hugging the lawyer, like a koala bear.

"Okay, so alcohol and screaming. I can get behind that." Karen stood, Danny passed her the bottle and she took a swig. Foggy went to take Peter's old seat and shoved the two huggers so Karen had a place to sit.

The blonde woman turned to whisper to Foggy, "So, how do all these people know Matt?"

"You'll find out sooner or later." Foggy whispered back as he slung his arm around her shoulder.

Suddenly there was a crash as a man in a red and black superhero-type suit crashed into the room, via the door. He faceplanted on the floor and held up his hand, "Today is the worst day in the history of ever."

"That's a fucking mood, Wade," Peter said, taking the bottle from Karen and putting it in Wade's hand.

The man rolled onto his back, so he could take a proper swig of the beverage. "Who are you?" He looked at Karen. She was unable to tell his expression because of his mask, which he had hiked up over his mouth, revealing his lips, scarred to hell and back.

"I'm Karen Page." She waved to him, as she had done while introducing herself to Peter earlier.

"Hi, Karen Page!" Wade waved back. "You work with Red, right?"

Red? Who is Red? Foggy seemed to notice her confusion, "he means Matt." Why would he mean Matt?

"Uh, yeah. I work with Matt," Karen spoke as he looked over to Matthew, who was still cuddling with Peter, who was making a low rumbling in his chest.

Wade gulped a bit more of the whiskey before speaking again, "So he told you?"

Karen was sure she looked confused. Peter stopped rumbling. Matt stopped his slow circles against Peter's back. Jess dropped her phone. Luke put his hand over his mouth. Danny just sighed. "No." Foggy put his head in his hands as he spoke.

"Oh, sorry Red." Wade put the bottle down.

Peter climbed off Matt and onto the floor. Laying down next to Wade and grabbing the bottle of whiskey. Karen didn't know how he knew, but the second Peter picked up the bottle Matt spoke, "Peter, no."

Peter threw the bottle over to Matt.

Karen almost screams.

Matt is blind.

Matt can't see shit.

There is no way Matt knows the bottle is coming.

It will split on his head and spill whiskey all over him.

He could get a concussion.

Karen almost screams.

But she doesn't. Because Matt catches it and takes a swig.

Karen's jaw drops. "What the hell is going on?"

Everyone is quiet. Jessica speaks, "I'm a private investigator. But I can also do this." She stands and makes her way over to the desk, which she bends over, hooks her fingers around the bottom of, and lifts it into the air. Karen gasps.

She puts down the desk and grabs a bottle of vodka out of the desk drawer. Jess sits down again and opens the bottle, taking a long swig.

Luke stands this time, "My skin is indestructible and I can lift more than Jessica." Jess grabs a glass shard from the floor, she drags it over Luke's skin. On any normal human, it would break the skin, but on Luke, it did nothing, his skin bent but did not break.

"My hand glows and breaks things, "Danny said, nonchalantly. "I can't really demonstrate, cause if I break anything Jess will kill me."

"Damn right."

Peter yawned, "I'm Spider-man."

Wade waved, "Deadpool."

Matt pulled off his glasses, "Daredevil."

Karen put her head in her hands, "Foggy?" She needed to know if he was in on this too,

"I've been told lawyers are evil, so take from that what you will." Karen couldn't help but let out a hysterical giggle.

"Oh, my gosh. Matthew Murdock, my boss and friend is the Daredevil," Karen said, her voice still held some of that hysterical tone. "Are you even blind? What the hell?"

"Why is that everyone's first question?" Matt wondered. "Yes, I am blind. No, I'm not really blind. It's very complicated. I'll explain later."

Karen stood up, "Thank you for inviting me but I'm going to go home, drown myself in liquor and not think about this until Monday when I have to."

"Bye, Office-Karen." Peter waved as she opened the door.

"Bye, Peter." She smiled at him.

Karen left the apartment and got into the elevator. A hand stopped the doors from closing, Foggy stepped in.

"I know this is har-" Foggy began.

Karen stopped him, "Is this why you and Matt were arguing that week?"

"Yeah," Foggy was caught off guard.

"You were mad at him? You needed time?"

"Yeah."

"Take the elevator back up and have a couple of drinks with your friends. I'll get over it."

"Okay."

Karen walked home. Her apartment still felt cold and empty. She pulled out a bottle of wine and a couple of pillows. She found a nice corner in the kitchen and put the pillows down to curl up with her bottle of wine to think.

Monday came around and Karen called in sick.

Tuesday came and she called Foggy, telling him she needed one more day.

Wednesday came around and Karen walked into the office. Then she turned the corner to Matt's office. Matt stood to explain himself but Karen wasn't having any of that bullshit.

She hugged him. "Thank you for saving me." She could feel Matt exhale, "but if you think you're off the hook? You're wrong."

I was so bored I just wrote this for fun, but if you like it I can keep doing stuff like this. If you haven't realized I just started watching Daredevil so I'm kind of obsessed with the character of Matt Murdock.

I just hope you like this.
