Together they part

MoriTiAmore

Happy Birthday dear ;)

----

People say the best things come in pairs.

Well the worst things came in pairs too.

But then again, they were the best at being the worst, so isn't it right that they came together?

-----

"How can a new personality be forming at this time?"

"I'm certain we can figure out this anomaly-"

"It certainly is an anomaly, I've only been here for two days-"

"You've been here for a week-"

"Two days Logic, I'm being replaced"

"You're not-", the Regal personality pouted and theTeacher placed a hand on his forehead and sighed, "Why do I even try?"

"Becaus-", he was cut off when Morality popped up.

"Hey you guys, I think it's hapeniiing!" Squealed the father before disappearing back to the commons.

Having both been in the kitchen, the two wouldn't have known when the new arrivals, well arrived, so they followed after Morality.
-----
Blue then Purple, a girl and a boy.

Depression and Anxiety.

That's how they were known and that's how they've always been.

The Terrible Two, the Tag team that slowly ate away at Thomas' mind.

The other aspects didn't like them very much because of it.
----

It wasn't intentional of course, they were just doing their jobs, together.

Depression on her own, tended to bring Thomas down, make him feel, well depressed.

She was proud of her job, she protected Thomas from getting his hopes up, she protected him from heartbreak.

Prince didn't like her very much, as a matter of fact none of the main personalities liked her, except for Anxiety of course and Morality was nice to her sometimes.

Anxiety on his own caused Thomas to panic over the littlest things. He was only trying to protect his host from being too careless, Logic didn't like him much, Morality was...nice?

Alone they were bad enough, together they drove their host up a wall.

"You know it's pointless to do it right? You're gonna work hard for nothing, it's a waste of your time and energy, you could literally be doing anything else-"

"But if you don't do it, then you'll fail and the teachers will hate you-"

"The teacher won't remeber you in a year, heck he probably doesn't even know your name-"

"It's still a grade-"

"It's extra points-"

"It's not necessary"

Morality, Logic, and Prince watched as the two bickered. One would say they argued like an old married couple, except they weren't really arguing, they were smiling.

By themselves they were unwanted, so they stood alone...Alone together and together they stayed.

Hardly were they ever seen without the other, it was always Depression and Anxiety or Anxiety and Depression.

They faced the disgusted looks and backwards comments the other personalities and emotions would through at them, they faced it together, it was too much alone.

They loved each other, because no one else would love them.

As Depression and Anxiety argued, laughed and argued again. Thomas was doing an extra credit report. The host wanted to cry.

He only finished half of it.

------

"Dee~ Get up, Thomas has school", Anxiety smirked, waiting outside Depression's dark blue door, she always hated getting up in the morning.

The Anxious trait frowned when there was no reply.

He knocked again.

"Dee?"

He heard nothing. Now he was worried.

"Dee, I'm coming in, you'd better be decent"

He opened the door, they never locked their room doors, no one ever bothered to check on them but each other, so sleep overs happened quite often.

When Anxiety entered the room, his heart raced, Dee was laying in bed, pale and unmoving. Her white night gown seemed much too big, haphazardly covering the essentials.

He walked closer to her, gently placing his hand on her forehead, she was burning up.

"Dee!" The Panic in his voice caused Depression to jolt awake.

"Anx?", she croaked, eyes half opened. Anxiety sighed in relief.

"Hey, how you feeling?", he asked gently

"Awful", Depression groaned, reaching blindly to grab him, he let her. Gently he sat on the bed, placing her head on his lap, slowly threading his fingers through her hair. She always did this for him when he felt down.

"I figured", he mumbled, "how bout we take a break today, I'll bring you an ice pack and we can watch a movie marathon-"

"Someone's gotta watch over Thomas, you go, I'll just stay in bed-"

"Dee~", whined Anxiety, he didn't like the fact his best friend was suffering.

"I'll be fine, I probably ate something that didn't agree with me, stop worried so much", she smiled at him.

Anxiety rolled his eyes, but he was smiling aswell, "you sure you're ok? You're telling Anxiety not to worry"

Depression giggled, the movement of her chest caused her nightgown to dip a little too low. Anxiety blushed a bright red, before, being the gentleman he was, quickly covered her up.

"Oh you're such a prude Anx", Dee rolled her eyes.

Anxiety simply kissed her forehead, "hmm, maybe, but you love me"

She laughed.

With that's Anxiety slowly slid out from under her and headed out the door.

"I'll get the ice pack and come check on you in a bit ok?"

Dee nodded, "I love you"

"Love you too"

----

When Anxiety left Dee's room, the first person he ran into was Logic.

The Teacher blinked at him.

"Where's Depression?"

"She's sick-"

"Oh, well it's one less of you Thomas has to deal with for today", shrugged Logic before walking away.

Anxiety grit his teeth.

He was about to say something to the logical jerk but Morality popped up and practically jump scared him.

"Woah, easy there kiddo, sorry about that but I could help overhear, how's Dee?"

Anxiety removed his hand from his chest.

"Dee's not feeling too good, but she'll be fine, she's taking a day off today"

"Alright, tell her to drink plenty of water, there's Asprin in the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, ice packs are almost always in the freezer and you can get a bucket from the laundry room for her, just in case"

"Thanks"

The Father winked, "any time kiddo".

-----

Depression got worse during the week, leaving Anxiety to run longer shifts, no one seemed to notice-more like no one seemed to care-except Morality

The Parental would make soups and broths and give them to Anxiety so he could give them to Dee.

The younger male grew to appreciate the elder, even looking up to him as a father figure, not that he'd say that out loud of course.

He did accidentally call him that once though, Morality's whole face seemed to light up.

He didn't say anything but he did smile and ruffle his hair. Anxiety rolled his eyes at the embarrassing memory.

He walked into Depression's room carrying a bowl of food with him.

"I brought breakfast for you Dee-"

"Soup from Dad?"

"Yeah-you're never gonna let me live that down are you?"

"Nope! You called him Dad, I think it's kind of cute actually-"

"I don't-"

"He's a good guy-"

"True, but his jokes need work-"

"You like them-"

"I do not!"

----

It wasn't until the second week when Anxiety learned why Dee was so sick.

Antidepressants.

He was crying when he told her, she simply held him close.

"I don't want to lose you Dee"

"I know, I don't want to go"

Anxiety stuck by her side even more.

----

"Hey Anx?", Dee asked on morning, she was curled against Anxiety's chest. The male rested his head atop of hers.

"Yeah?" Yawned the other, he had hardly gotten much sleep over the weeks. There were dark bags under his eyes.

"I wanna go outside today"

"If you're feeling up for it *yawn* sure", he mumbled sleepily. He was losing the fight with his eye-lids.

"You look awful-"

"And you *yawn* look as beautiful *yawn* as ever"

"Aww, you're so cheesy when you're tired-"

" 'M not*yawn*tire", he slurred, burying his face a bit more in her hair.

Depression chuckled, he was so cute when he was sleepy.

-----

When Anxiety woke up he realized two things.

The first was "crap, I fell asleep", the second, "Dee?"

Depression was nowhere to be found.

Swallowing down the panic that rose to his throat, Anxiety quickly bolted out of bed, he checked the bathroom, his room and finally the commons.

He sighed in relief when he saw her, Dee and Morality were having a conversation. She was no doubt laughing at one of his Da-bad jokes.

"Oh hey, look who it is, Mr. Sleep like a log himself"

"Gee, thanks Dee", drawled Anxiety sarcastically.

Depression winked, "any time babe"

"Time is an illusion", yawned Anxiety as he curled up next to her.

Dee turned to her side, gently raking her fingers through his hair, "you were only asleep for about twenty minutes, don't you want to go back to bed?"

"No", he sighed, leaning to her touch, " 'M fine"

"You're gonna fall asleep on me aren't you?"

"probably...", his eyes were already closing.

"You dork"

"...love you..."

Dee smiled fondly at him.

Morality gushed quietly from across the other chair.

-----

"Hey you two, this is cute and the like, but it's best if you go to your rooms-"

"Logan leave them alone, they're tired-"

"Then wouldn't it be best for them to sleep, in their rooms?"

"Morality's right Logic, just leave them-"

Logic threw up his hands, "alright fine, whateveryou say Roman, but when they're complaining about back problems and a crick in their necks, I won't say I told you so"

Prince rolled his eyes at the Teacher, before turning to the sleeping pair on the couc. Sure he didn't like the two, but there was no denying that they were in love and being the hopeless romantic that he was, he thought it was cute. Depression and Anxiety, despite being polar opposites loved each other, for some reason that brought a pang to his heart.

-----

Dee got worse.

Anxiety couldn't help but notice.

Yet everyday she wanted to be outside with him, chatting with Morality and talking to his kids.

The had grown quite close to the Oldman, his kids were alright too, but they didn't stick around much.

-----

Ever wonder how weird it would be to die on your birthday?

Dee knew.

They were just talking about meaningless stuff, idle chatter really, Dee, Anxiety and Morality. All smiles then suddenly, there were tears.

Anxiety caught her before she fell, she clutched at him with tears in her eyes, he was crying too.

She smiled at him, watery and fragile, he sobbed. Morality was behind him, she mouthed four words, the parent nodded.

"Dee don't, Dee please don't go"

"I love you", was all she said. And not a second later she dissappeared, fading put of his arms and into non-existence with not but a sigh.

"DEE!"

----

Anxiety screamed and cried till he was too numb and too exhausted to do so anymore.

Morality was there to catch him when his body gave out and lost balance. He held the younger close to his chest, rubbing circles on his back. The boy sobbed into his shirt.

He cried too, "take care of him", she said.
He just lost a daughter, Anxiety just lost his love.

"I'm so sorry son"

Anxiety clutched him harder.

Roman's heart cried out for the younger, but for some odd reason he felt happy, something had to be wrong, sure he didn't like Depression, but he wouldn't wish her dead.

Logic looked on with pity, he didn't care for either Anxiety or Depression, but he wouldn't have wanted to be separated from his other half.
