Fallen star
Ok guys, so since I've been sick I have been writing, just not for Innerworks yet ^_^'sorry.
I've written two fics for some peeps au's that I found interesting. (If you've got an au you wanna rep that has it's own world building let me know lol)
So here's this one because most of you are familiar with Mario bros.
This is the art ref.
All the art below was made by the artist @pastel-peach on tumblr but stupid wattpad won't let me link to credit her properly.
This one is by the creator of the au @sugarglider9603
And here's the fic that I wrote for the au.
It still has yet to be seen by sugar- or anyone really- but oh well, thought you guys might enjoy atleast?
-------
For those new to the au:
Logan is Mario
Virgil is Luigi
Patton is Peach
Roman is Daisy
Remy is Rosalina
Deciet as Bowser (Bowciet)
Bowciet's kids are called the Danger Noodles
Fic Warnings: Fever, unconsciousness, mentions of throwing up, dehydration, mentions of death-just a lil bit of angst (if you blink you'll miss it I promise)
It's 6k of fluff, I swear!
----
It started with a Luma.
Well, two actually.
----
It's one of those rare days when all the bois had some down time.
Currently, Logan, Virgil and Roman were at Patton's Castle, chatting, drinking tea and eating some of Patton's homemade cookies.
“I swear on my crown, it definitely happened-”
“I don't buy that for a second Roman”
“Virgil you wound me! Patton, my fine, fair, fellow Prince, tell him, it happened, you were there!”
“Hmm, I don't know Ro- I don't remember anything like that happening, you could've dreamt it?”
“Et tu Patton?!”
Virgil cackles.
Logan, who had been listening with a smirk on his lips, chuckled, he was about to pipe in when amongst the chatter a sudden trilling sound echoed through-
“Is...is that a Luma?”
----
Back in Bowciet's castle, the reptilian father and his kids were also having some down time.
“Wendy, got any 2's Dear?”
“Nah, go fish Pops”
“Ok my turn, got any 4's Jr.?”
“Yeah, the same 4's I keep gettin’, I swear you're cheatin’ Wendy!” Grumbled Bowciet Jr .with a huff, still he passed three cards to his sister- “wait is that a Luma?”
Bowciet looked up from his hand of fresh picked cards-
Indeed there was a Luma- a small one- now currently being coddled in Jr.’s arms.
“Pa, it's cryin! Somethin's wrong!”
Never before had any of his children seen Bowciet move so fast.
“Kids, get the ship ready”
----
It's in the skies that the two groups meet, Logan's ship flying abreast Bowciet's.
The tension in the air is palpable.
“What is he doing here?” Hisses Virgil from his seat. Rising to join his brother at the main console.
Patton bites his lip, gently petting the Luma in his arms. “I don't know V, maybe he's going to Remy's too?-”
Roman shrugs stepping forward next to Virgil. “Uh, he could be Pat, they're kinda a thing right?”
The Luma trills, nodding its little head.
“I guess they are-”
Before anyone can speak, the intercom shrieks to life, audio feedback causing everyone to wince. Logan quickly lowers the volume and pulls up the intervid screen.
“Hey! Where are you-” Bowciet Jr. appears on screen, a Luma floating beside him. “Wait, you've got a Luma too?!”
The Boopaling jumps up and runs off, his siblings suddenly materializing from all corners of the screen-only to disappear again.
The brothers and the Princes blink, in the background they can hear all Bowciet's children chattering at the same time-
Bowciet himself suddenly appears on screen.
Something unreadable in his expression.
“Did the Luma come to you?”
Patton speaks up, seeing as he was the one holding the aforementioned Luma.
“Yes, it just flew to my castle-”
“How else do you think we got it? Snarks Virgil, coming up next to the Pink Prince. “What kind of question was that? Where did you get your one-?”
“This little one came into my castle much the same-” he paused, the Boopa King's tone was oddly soft and worried. “It was crying”
Four wide eyes stared at Bowciet- he ended the transmission.
----
Logan huffs as he drags a rather large bag from the back of the ship to the main console.
Roman, ever curious, arches a brow when he sees just exactly what it was.
“Why would you bring your med-bag? I mean the little guy could just be lost and came to the castle because it knows us-”
“I'm not too sure about that Roman, at first I brought my bag as a precaution, but now I believe it might be a necessity-”
Patton cuts Logan off, concern piping his voice. “What? Why? Do you think something's wrong with Remy?”
“I think so, one Luma getting lost is one thing, but two? Galaxy knows we're all grateful that the Luma as a species didn't inherit their sense of direction from their Mother”
-----
Through a portal to the Gateway Galaxy, the two ships head to The Comet Observatory.
There's no one to greet them as they dock, except each other.
Neither group says anything, tension still too thick for that, the two Luma however, trill and chime when they were reunited-and then they looked back expectantly-near exasperatedly- at the others.
Jr. and the Boopalings gasp, running forward leaving the adults confused.
“They want us to hurry, so come on!!!”
All five males take a glance at each other, and nod, a tentative truce-well one more than they already had-
They took off inside after the kids, the Lumas leading the way.
------
The housing area of Remy's ship is surprisingly quiet…
Something about the silence just didn't sit right with anyone in the group.
As the two young Lumas led them through the long halls. They noticed something.
It was Cold.
It was Empty.
It was Absolutely Barren.
There were no Lumas
There was no noise.
There was no Space Price in sight.
And then…the silver doors hissed opened.
They entered the Observation deck.
There lay Remy's prone form, surrounded by a sea of worried Lumas. His shades and his wand scattered across the floor away from him
A few of the poor starlings were nudging at his cheek with their stubby little arms. Crooning and trilling in distress, the ‘Mother of the Lumas’ didn't so much as twitch.
“Remy!”
-----
The group runs to him.
Bowciet and his kids somehow reaching Remy first.
The Lumas only separated far enough for them to pass through, but didn't hesitate to climb onto of the others in order to keep watch over their Mother.
Bowciet gently-oh so gently- picks him up turns him over, the Space Prince's body, pale and terrifyingly limp in his arms.
Logan rushes over, med-bag in hand- with a lab coat suddenly covering his overalls- and places a hand to Remy's head, grimacing.
“He's burning up”
“Shit!”
“Virgil! There are children around!”
“Now isn't the time Pat-”
“No it really isn't”, cuts Logan, “his fever is too high, it's likely one of the reasons for his unconsciousness, we need to cool him down-”
“How exactly?”
“And this is why I brought the bag”
Logan digs into the bag, bringing out a cloth and a small corked covered vial. In said vial was a sparkling light blue liquid.
“Bowciet, hold his head, two drops of this should help lower the fever”
With a nod the Boopa King does as he was told, gently turning Remy, so that Logan could release two drops of the liquid through the Cosmic Prince's parted lips.
Remy coughs for a bit then stills again…
Only to shudder and shiver as chills begin to wrack his body. Panicking slightly, Bowciet pulls Remy closer to his large frame.
“What was that?!
“It's a ‘Cold Inducer’, as distasteful as the name sounds it works well. I got it when I rescued a Penguin from Sherbet Land. Turns out that one in particular was a medic, he gifted it to me as a thank you-”
“And why would he do that?”
“Well considering that if a Sherbet Penguin overheats, it would most certainly die, so having something that drops body temperature is quite advantageous”
Remy shivers some more, an unhappy whimper leaving his unconscious lips.
The Lumas trill in distress, quite a few of them glare at Logan- with enough force that it causes the man to step back, slightly nervous.
Three Lumas pop in, chiming as they brought a blanket.
Bowciet helps them cover the unconscious Prince, wrapping him warmly in the teal blue blanket. The Luma float gently over his stomach, the three of them cooing, nuzzling their Mother and calling out in hopes that he’d awaken.
The others chime along with their siblings- but their call falls of deaf ears.
It's near heartbreaking to watch. The Lumas look ready to cry-
“Lo”
The impromptu medic looks up at Patton, who simply tilts his head.
Logan knows very well what it means, with a sigh he stands up and addresses all in the room.
“Alright, let's get him to his bedroom, a few more sheets will suffice to keep his shivering at bay”
Iggy, one of Bowciet's children makes a skeptical sound. “Are you sure you didn't use too much of the potion? His lips are as blue as his clothes!”
Everyone else looks at the fallen Prince, and true to the reptilian child's word, Remy’s lips were indeed a pale blue.
Bowciet Jr. pipes up. “Yeah! Are you sure?”
Logan refrains another sigh, he can see that the Boopas are worried, none more than the- notably quiet- King himself.
“I'm quite sure, his body temperature will regulate- er, will return to normal soon, two drops is just enough to lower a dangerous fever into a mild one at the worst and into non-existentence at best”
----
Getting to Remy's room wasn't difficult, it was quite- as Patton put it-spacious.
Then again if the Lumas wanted to stay with their Mother it would have to be. Speaking of, the starlings didn't stay too long after their Mother was placed on his bed.
Bowciet Jr. said they mentioned something about repairs but he couldn't understand them too well seeing as none of the Lumas had their telepathy as yet.
----
It's not long after they settle Remy in, that Virgil and Roman, leave the room.
Having not been in Comet Observatory, were wandering around looking for the kitchen.
Roman, wanted to make his famous Sarasaland soup, according to him, it was “bound to heal any ailments their starry friend had!” Virgil following behind to make sure Roman “didn't accidentally burn the place down.”
In hindsight they should have asked a Luma. But they didn't want to bother the little creatures especially since they seemed so distressed over their mother.
The two figured if they walked around long enough they'd find it eventually.
They turned to a room, frowning at the fact that it was slightly darker than the rest, Roman- before Virgil could find words to protest- turned on the light.
Only to then instantly regret that decision.
-----
“Do you hear that?” asks Bowciet jr. His siblings around him nod, but its his sister, Wendy, who answers. “Yeah, sounds like-”
“Kids, keep it down-”
“Yes, Pa”, they chorused.
Bowciet huffs, patting jr.’s head lightly, and the rest of his kids come up to hug at his legs. He sighs, they're just as worried as he is.
Remy was important to him, seeing him so pale and weak- weak, a word he would never in his right mind use to describe Remy, but looking at the Space Prince before him, so small on the large bed beneath him; pale with hallowed sunken eyes, shivering from a fever that was once hell high and his breathing...so slow, so shallow, Bowciet feared it would actually stop.
The thought caused tears to prick at his eyes, but it wouldn't do well to cry, not when his kids needed him to be strong and certainly not when Logan and Patton were right there.
He looked up at Logan- their ‘medic’, who had been whispering to his Prince in pink- and willed his voice not to shake.
“Do you know when he'll wake up?”
“No, but his fever was rather high, I suspect it will be a while before he wakes-”
“...nghh...”
“Or he can wake now”
-----
Remy groaned.
His head pounded and everything around him sounded like it was swimming in thick cotton. His eyelids felt like lead but he needed to get up-
Why did he need to get up?
“Mama! Mama!”
“Mama! Mama!”
That's why.
His babies were crying.
He needed to get to them.
He needed to-
“...nghh…”
Prying his eyes open, the Space Prince was met with several worried looks from two of his friends, his boyfriend and his boyfriend's kids.
He struggled but managed to sit up.
“My room? Wha-? What're you guys-mgnh- what are you doing here?” Clutching his head, Remy was surprised to find a cold cloth- he froze- a muffled sound reached his ears. His babies were crying.
He tried moving but he found his body entirely too heavy, not to mention he was wrapped up in sheets.
“Your Lumas came for us, we found you unconscious at the Observation deck-”
Remy looked up at Logan...who was in a Labcoat for some reason?
“Oh-”
Patton cut him off.
“Could you tell us what happened Rems?”
Groaning, the Space Prince forced his heavy body to move, peeling the sheets off of him as he spoke.
“There was a Nova, the ship got sucked in a little too close, so the Lumas jumped in to push the us out of blast range, still got hit by the energy backlash though, pretty sure the back half my ship's still wrecked-”
Prince Patton gasped.
“Wait, what happened to your Lumas?!”
Remy gave him an odd look.
“They, they died Pat-”
“What?!”
The Space Prince winced at the other's shriek. It did nothing to soothe his headache.
“-and were reborn”, that's what happens with Lumas, they get reborn into a new cycle of life-”
The Danger Noodles pipe up, voices mixing, “is that why we hear babies cry-”
“Yes”, grunts Remy, cutting them off with a wince as he successfully makes an escape from his cotton thin prison and stands up. He shivers, wobbling towards the door for just a sec before Logan's arm is on his shoulder.
“Remy, you're sick, you need to rest-”
The Cosmic Price fixed the Dr.(Plumber) with a glare that had everyone in the room stepping back.
“My babies are crying, they need me, and I'm going to tend to them”
Spotting his star wand on the nightstand, Remy called it to his hand and walked out; foregoing his nearby shades and leaving everyone blinking shock.
-----
The gang finds themselves running after the Space Prince, he was moving quite quickly for someone so obviously not well.
They ended up in a brightly lit room, filled with dozens upon dozens of baby Lumas in colored, blanketed, cribs, each crying and screaming for their mother.
Near instantly, Roman and Virgil came barreling towards them.
“Remy we’re so sorry-”, started Virgil. Only to be cut off by and equally frantic Roman
“Yes, it was an honest mistake, I didn't know that the-”
“Lights? Yeah, these guys only sleep properly when it's pitch black”
Roman winced.
“I'm sorry, tell me how I-”
“We”, piped Virgil
“how We can help-”
“You can help by joining the others by the door, right now you're scaring my Lumas. I can handle my babies”
The two look at each other before looking back at Remy. The Space Prince's tone was sweet enough, but the protective look in his eyes found the two hard pressed to object any further.
When they didn't move, the look darkened.
“Come on, shoo! They won't stop crying unless I deal with them”
“Oh, ok...” Roman dropped his head dejectedly. Virgil gave Remy a small nod before pulling Roman towards the others.
Taking a breathe, the Space Prince walked into the center of the room, he put two of his fingers in his mouth and whistled. The shrill sound bounced through out the room, loud enough to cause the gang at the back to wince.
Three older Lumas, came up to Remy, their trills and croons echoing as they gave what would appear to be a report.
“Did you?” Remy tilts his head curiously.
The others behind him don't have enough of a grasp on Star speak to understand what the three Luma had said.
Either way, the starling on the left nodded and the Space Prince gave a tired smile. “Ok good, that must have been a handful to change all of them-”
The middle Luma trilled.
“Yeah...I figured it would have been the lights, they're up early so they'll be hungry-”
The right Luma crooned, bouncing and gesturing to is siblings as it did.
“You sure you can handle that?”
The three of them nodded.
“Alright then, I'm trusting you three, get some of others to help you carry all of them ok?”
The Lumas gave a small salute trilling as they flew off and out of the room.
Once they were gone Remy sighed, running a hand down his face. Goddess his head hurt, and his babies were still crying.
Sighing again, the Space Prince closed his eyes, and when he opened them he sent a bolt of light upwards with his wand.
The light exploded into mini stars, and the ceiling changed, in fact the entire room suddenly looked like space. Bright stars speckled the walls, a turquoise galaxy span around above them-and the baby Lumas stopped crying.
The group all let out a collective sigh of relief.
“For such cute and tiny little creatures, the Lumas sure have a set of pipes”
“You can say that again Patton”, mumbled the Virgil still looking around at the stars.
“I'm surprised I'm not deaf”, snickered Bowciet Jr.
They chuckled amongst themselves, thoroughly awed by the spacial display-
Planets, stars, comets of all things, passed them by, absolutely beautiful as they spun around the room...
Until it was gone and Remy was down on one knee.
-----
“Mama!”
The baby Lumas trilled in distress, but before anyone could do anything, Remy stood up, albeit shakily.
“Calm down little ones, Mama's fine ok? Just...tired. Mama's just a little tired. Just like you. Got up early today didn't ya, must be hungry hmm?”
A few of the babies crooned.
“I know, I know, sweethearts, I'll get the lights in a bit ok? Tell you what, we'll get some food in you guys and then you can go right back to sleep. When you wake up again you can have playtime with the older Lumas, yeah? Sound good?”
The baby Lumas cheered...and then they yawned. A sight that had Patton, Roman and Surprisingly Bowciet fawning.
Not a minute after, the three Luma came back, this time with 12 more of their siblings each carry a large box filled with baby bottles.
Without much preamble, Remy swung his wand, lifting a few bottles telekinetically to the newborn Lumas in front of him. Gently as he gave the bottles, he would tuck them in, patting their soft heads as they settled down. For those farther away, their blankets would be pulled up and the baby Lumas tucked in with a flick of the Space Prince's wrist
Between Remy and the older Luma, all the babies were settled within record time, each happily sucking on a bottle, drifting off or in some cases both.
After a few minutes the lights in the room started to dim. Everyone looked to Remy-who simply gestured for them to keep quiet as they tiptoed out the room. Nine of the Older Lumas stayed behind, gently waving them away.
By the time they left, the room was pitch black and all the baby Lumas were sound asleep.
-----
Now outside, the six remaining elder Lumas gave another report.
Remy pinched the bridge of his nose, “really?”
Two of the Lumas chime sadly but another trills, gesturing to itself and its other siblings.
The Space Prince smiles sadly at it, “I can't ask you guys to do that, most of you are tired and the rest of you are still working on repairs-”
All of them trill in protest.
But Remy holds up a hand, “I'm serious, I can handle it-”
It's Roman who pipes up.
“Handle what Remy?”
“We're out of food-”
“Wait I thought Lumas only ate Starbits?” asks Logan, with his brow arching.
Bowciet blinks, turning to the Mother of Lumas. “Do you need us to go harvest some?”
Remy holds out a hand.
“No, I meant, food for the newborns, we've got more than enough Starbits, but the babies can't eat solids yet, so we have to sort and blend them-”
“Oh! Oh! We can help! We can help!”
And before anyone can say anything the kids run off with the Lumas to the kitchen
Remy shakes his head fondly.
“So…”, starts Virgil, “sorting?”
“Yeah, the newborns are pretty picky with their food. Blue Lumas only want Blue Starbits, Orange and Red want their respective colors too, the Yellow Lumas thankfully don't care, but all of them like the Purple Starbits, so at least one needs to be in their bottle or it's anarchy”
Logan tilts his head, something Patton squeals internally about. “Do they taste different?”
“Not to me, but seeing as I've gotten quite a few bottles launched at my head when I accidentally mix them up, I gotta say... probably?”
Logan rolls his eyes, while Patton, Roman and Virgil slap a hand over their mouths to hide their snickering.
The trek to the kitchen is a long one.
Well it feels long to Remy at least. His head still hurts, not pounding as it was when he had first woken, mind you, but it had dwindled down to a dull throb. A continuous ache that made it difficult for him to concentrate on putting one foot in front of the other.
With each step his body felt heavier and heavier, to the point where he needed to place a hand to the wall for support-
The room spins for a second, the Space Prince's knees buckle and the next thing he know he's being scooped up and carried by his boyfriend.
“You alright?” The Boopa King's voice is low and laced with worry.
Normally Remy would protest to being picked up like this. If he wasn't the one that jumped into your arms, getting picked up was a no-no. He wasn't some damsel in distress, no disrespect to the two behind him but...he's tired. His head hurts and he needs to get a new batch of bottles ready for his babies.
With a weary sigh, he accepts his defeat.
“...yeah…”
Bowciet doesn't like the resigned tone that Remy has, but he doesn't say anything about it. Instead he gives the Space Prince a gentle squeeze on his shoulder.
----
In the kitchen the guys are met with a giant box of apparently frozen Starbits, some smaller labeled boxes, some labeled blenders and far more Lumas and baby bottles they have ever seen.
The Danger Noodles are there eagerly offering to help the Lumas with the sorting.
But before they can even touch the Big box of Starbits, Remy jumps out of Bowciet's hold, swings his wand and the kids get levitated.
“Ah-ah, not before you wash your hands”
Without much preamble, the kids shrug and air swim to the sink.
Bowciet places a hand to his head, grumbling at his children's antics, Remy just laughs.
Once clean, the Danger Noodles, along with the Lumas start sorting the Starbits into boxes by color.
Remy directs Patton, Virgil, Roman and Logan to the blenders, where they would be making Starbit smoothies in the blender by color.
“It's six Starbits total to a bottle, Patton gets pink, Roman Orange, Logan Blue-”
“Does that mean I get Purple”
“Nah V, you get Yellow, I only need one Purple in each bottle. Since there are more Yellow Luma than anything, you get to make sure that a purple Starbit is placed in each blender yeah?”
Virgil shrugs, a smirk on his lips.
“Aight, give me the most work, why not”
“Love you too hun!”
With all of them working together things are moving quite smoothly.
Bowciet had joined his kids, helping sort the Starbits into their respective labeled color.
Remy aiding as well by lifting some of the Starbits, allowing the Lumas to grab and sort them without disturbing the Boopas.
----
By the time they finish, everyone is a bit sore and definitely hungry. The Lumas are quick to put away the now filled bottles, some the boxes and some start the dishes.
There's a lot of noise and chatter, mostly about lunch, something about filling more bottles, the Lumas' chimes- it's a lot and it doesn't bode well for Remy.
The sound of the blenders didn't bother him nearly this much, but he suspected that it was his exhaustion kicking in, either way, his head swims and he finds himself on the floor, eyes squeezed shut and clutching his ears.
Goddess, everything was too loud, everyone's voice was too loud- “Mama?”
It goes quiet.
The Cosmic Prince tentatively opens an eye.
The Luma in front of him hands him a water bottle.
“Thank you sweetheart”, he croaks as takes the bottle and chugs it empty- the Luma is quick to remove the bottle.
It's quiet now and it takes the Star Prince a moment to realize why…Everyone had a Luma pressing their mouths closer and glaring at them.
Remy could do no more than burst out laughing.
Wincing a bit at his own volume, he does his best to placate his babies.
“Hey, It's alright, I'm ok now”
The Lumas take one look at their Mother before releasing their “hostages” and flying towards him.
“Sorry about that-”
“care to explain what that was?”
“ I don't really know, sometimes things just get really loud and I can't move for a bit without getting overwhelmed,” Remy shrugs, patting one of the Luma that was currently nuzzling his cheek. “Usually goes away after I drink some water though”
“Hey Lo, thinking what I'm thinking?”
“Indeed Virgil, Sensory overload-”
“What?”
"It's what its name suggests, an overload of the senses, haven't you ever had a time where you walked into a room and everything was too loud and too bright? It's symptom of both anxiety and dehydration"
“Huh, go figure-” starts the Space Prince with a shrug, then he pauses for a sec, swallowing.
“Hey Jr. can you pass me that garbage-can over there”
“uh, yeah, sure, it's empty though”
“Mhm”
With a shrug Bowciet Jr. hands him the aforementioned trash can.
“Thanks hun”
Remy takes it- and then near instantly heaves.
The adults wince and the kids grimace.
Bowciet, not knowing what else to do, gently rubs his back.
The Lumas trill and huff, obviously chiding their Mother.
One grabs the garbage can from Remy and takes it away, another brings him some paper towels and another hands him a cup of cold water.
All trilling unhappily while they did so.
Remy wipes his mouth-the paper towels are taken from him-
One of the older Luma is literally in his face pointing its little stubby arm in upset.
“I know, I know, I drank it too fast, I'm fine-”
It chimes, a pout on its lips.
“I'm drinking it! See!”
Remy takes the cup to his mouth.
The collective Lumas in the room trill sharply.
“Fine, fine I'm sipping it, better?”
All of them chime.
Remy huffs, “...honestly, who's the Mother here?”
The others can't help but laugh.
Remy rolls his eyes, a fond smile on his lips.
----
“I'm guessing you wouldn't want soup, huh?”
Logan shakes his head, “actually Roman, it would be best to make a broth, lest Remy's stomach gets upset again-”
“Oh my gawd it was water!”
“Yes, and a soup is far thicker and heavier than water, it would be less pleasant to throw that up don't you think?”
“I swear, today's just ‘pick on Remy day' isn't it?”
“Yes”, chorus his fellow Princes and the brothers.
“Ughh, I need new friends”
----
Roman and some Lumas make quick work, and soon enough, everyone's gathering to eat… right there on the kitchen floor.
“You guys know I have a dining room right?”
“Yeah, but it's far-” jests Virgil.
“It's through that door-”
“Like I said, far. Besides the floor is super clean”
“of course, I have babies on board, I can't risk them getting sick”
Logan joins in with his brother.
“Understood, and that's why were eating on the floor”
Remy snorts but doesn't say anything else.
His friends are here and his Lumas are happy, he can't really complain- he blinks and suddenly he sitting on Bowciet's lap.
He looks up at the Boopa King, confusion written plainly on his face.
“Um?”
“You're shivering”, is all he says.
True to his word, Remy does find himself trembling a bit.
“Oh”
Before he can say anything more, Roman and the Lumas come in serving bowls of soup. One Luma specifically handed its Mother a bowl of beef broth.
It's all nice and content. Everyone sitting down cross legged with their soup, or broth in Remy's case, and even the Lumas join in, munching on a bowl of star bits each.
All is quiet until Roman pipes up.
“Jeez Rem, your hands are so skinny, when's the last time you ate?”
“That's a good question hun”
Patton gapes. “Remy!”
“Whaat? With two whole influxes of Lumas, I haven't had the time to cook for myself, so I just munch of some Starbits with my babies when it's feeding time”
Logan shakes his head with a ‘tsk’.
“Honestly Remy, sleep deprivation, dehydration and malnutrition, it's a wonder how you haven't hit the floor earlier. You really shouldn't over work yourself-”
Remy holds up a hand, face suddenly looking serious.“Wait, do you guys smell that?!”
“Smell what?”
“Hypocrisy”
The all burst out laughing, Logan blushes a little.
Rolling his eyes, he takes out a red vial from his lab coat pocket.
Roman gently jabs at his boyfriend and whispers, “when did he get that?”
Virgil shrugs. “No clue”
The medic then kindly asks one of the Lumas for a Starbit, which pours a single drop of the red liquid onto the given Starbit. He then hands it to Remy.
“This should help with any joint soreness or muscle cramping-”
“But I don't have-?”
“Not yet, you were shivering before, that alone tends to cause soreness, not to mention the impact you likely received from the Nova incident”
“Fine”, Remy rolls his eyes but eats the Starbit anyway, only to wince, “damn that's like seriously bitter, could'a gave a gurl some warning”
“If I did, you probably wouldn't have eaten it”
Remy pouts, shooting Logan a half-hearted glare before turning to one of his fellow Princes.
“Pat, hun, your boyfriend's being rude”
“Aww Rems, that's just the way he shows he cares”
“He could care a little less that'd be nice-”
“Oh hush and eat your soup”
“Fine”
The moment Remy picks up his spoon, it was as if everyone else was suddenly on the same page. Everyone, including the Lumas-
“Slowly!” they chorused, a cacophony of trills and laughter.
“Oh my gawd, let it go!”
------
By the time they finish the soup, Remy finds his eyes closing on him.
At one point they do close and he reopens them, furrowing his brow in confusion until he sees a tiny smirk on Logan.
He glares at the ‘medic’ and Logan cracks, chuckling a bit.
“Does the-”
“Does the drop of serum I gave you cause drowsiness? Yes it does, but I figure you could use the sleep”
“rude”
This sends them into another peel of laughter.
----
“Remy”, starts Logan curiously, “you mentioned two influxes of Luma, am I correct to assume that means two different age groups?”
“Well yeah technically, but it's really two different cycles. The first group are just Babies and the ones from the Nova are Newborns-”
“Ok. How many cycles does a Luma have?”
“There are five cycles. The First cycle is the newborns, from 0 to a month. The second cycle are Baby Luma, that takes about 4 months. Third is the Young Luma, 6 months in and then the fourth is just a Luma or Older Luma to the younger ones obvs, their about a year old and up. The fifth cycle rarely happens but it's when the Luma is full grown some Lumas become planets...some become comets...and a few become Power Stars”
Remy's voice is getting softer, and he yawns.
Patton, who was listening with awe, is the first to pipe up. “Why is the fifth cycle so rare Rems?”
“Uh, well *yawn* it's not really rare...just that, the fifth cycle takes the most time and things like the Nova incident causes them to re-enter the cycle early”
Virgil hums in thought for a moment.
“When was the Nova-?”
“Um, about three? Three days ago I think?”
“You think?”
Remy sighs, snuggling deeper into Bowciet's arms, “ V, tbh, I have no idea what today even is”
“Mood”
They chuckle and Remy's eyes have almost fully closed on him, when a young Luma croons, “Mama?”
Remy shifts sleepily, “hmm?”
The little Luma chimes and Remy giggles, “Yes sweetheart, it's Nap time, wanna take a nap with Mama?”
It chimes again, bouncing in the air, this time gesturing to everyone in the Kitchen.
Remy laughs, “you'll have to ask them if they want to join us”
The Danger Noodles jump up.
“Can we make a pillow fort?!
“Yeah, a really big one?!”
And of course any excuse to have a comfy fort with pillows and blankets is near 100% accepted.
“Sure”
“I'm in”
“Definitely!”
“If it actually gets you to sleep, then by all means”
The little one trills happily, floating over and curling up in its Mother's arms.
----
They head to the living room, a half-asleep Remy and the Luma being carried by Bowciet.
The bois kindly hold their tongues and bite their lips. The the soft, happy look the Boopa King has on his face, as he glances down at the two in his arms, is actually adorable.
Even more so are the kids and the Lumas throwing blankets and pillows everywhere, the forming fort looking good already.
Laughing when a Luma accidentally buries Bowciet Jr. under a blanket Virgil moves in to help, so does Roman and of course Patton, pulling Logan along into the fray.
“Feeling better?” Asks Bowciet, his rumbling voice a low lilt, gently placing his head atop of his Space Prince's.
In turn, Remy nuzzles his shoulder.
“Mhm, much, jus’ rlly sleepy tho-”,
Bowciet's cheeks color, his boyfriend should not be this cute!
“Let's get you into the fort then, shall we?”
Remy inhales and then exhales, eyes fluttering.
“...K...”
He's asleep before they even make it in.
----
Bonus:
When Remy wakes the next morning, he's warm and comfortable, enough so that he doesn't want to move. So he doesn't. He's quite pleased where he is, laying nicely on Bowciet's chest, the Boopa King's heart-beat a welcoming sound. The Danger Noodles are surrounding them, pressed up against them both-along with the Lumas their holding like plushies.
The Space Prince almost wants to get up, just to take a picture of this moment.
Almost.
Instead he looks around him, Roman and Virgil are half sprawled over Patton and Logan, the latter two, Remy couldn't tell you were one started from where the other ended.
Smiling, he settles back, laying his head on his boyfriend's chest and holding his young Luma close.
Falling back asleep with far more ease than before.
