22 - Middle Of The Night
"I made promises that were meant to broken anyways."
-
It was 11:30 in the night. Yoongi was getting restless as it was way too late for Jungkook to return home. Yes, he was on a date but the younger should've informed him if it was taking time.
And if it wasn't much then Yoongi had already called Star Moon Hotel where Jungkook had organised the date. The counter said that he never even stepped into the hotel premises this day.
Yoongi had tried calling Jungkook as well as Taehyung but neither of them replied. He massaged his temples when his phone ringed. It was Jungkook. He immediately picked up.
"What the fuck Jungkook? Where are you?" Yoongi yelled over the call.
"Do you know him sir?" An unknown voice echoed.
Yoongi panicked, "Y-yes and who are you? What are you doing with my brother?"
"Sir I'm a bartender at The Hustle Bar. We're upto our enclosure and your brother is too much drunk here. He's demanding for more drinks but I think he needs to head home. Please escort him with you within 15 minutes, if possible."
"I'm coming, sorry for the inconvenience." Yoongi hung the call.
"What is this boy upto?" Yoongi mumbled to himself and rushed towards his car. He reached the bar in 20 minutes only to find a deserted party hall with Jungkook as the only customer there.
He instantly ran towards him, "Jungkook! Jungkook!!"
"Sir?" The bartender spoke, "He's so far okay and- We know that you both are the owners of the immensely reputed company, Black Swan Entertainment."
Yoongi sighed, "How much?"
The bartender paused, "The manager has the say."
"Whatever it is, make it fast." Yoongi sternly ordered to which the manager came to attend him.
"Sir-"
"Drop the formalities, just say the amount." Yoongi slightly yelled.
The manager revealed the desired amount of money which Yoongi transferred in his account. Moreover all the records of Jungkook drinking recklessly and blabbering explicit words were deleted.
"Now keep you mouths shut forever. You wouldn't want to be declared bankrupt right?" Yoongi warned while wrapping Jungkook's arm around his neck.
The manager and bartender nodded while Yoongi left the place with Jungkook. They somehow reached the mansion and Yoongi almost instantly slammed him on the couch.
"Jungkook what the fuck is wrong with you?!" Yoongi yelled but Jungkook just wiggled his head while breathing heavily.
Yoongi settled him on the couch to sleep while himself fit into a sofa.
Morning came almost immediately. Yoongi was first to wake up of course. Jungkook's phone beeped at the moment.
Caller id : Kim Taehyung
Call blocked.
"Blocked?" Yoongi mumbled to himself, "Why has he blocked Taehyung? They had a date for god's sake!"
Yoongi unlocked Jungkook's phone. He opened the message box as well as the contacts. Taehyung was blocked.
Yoongi patiently waited for Jungkook to wake up. He woke up by 10 and his gaze immediately met Yoongi's.
"Hyung-" Jungkook muttered in his raspy voice.
"Freshen up first." Yoongi patted his head and left for the kitchen.
Jungkook sighed. He didn't know that Yoongi was aware of everything. Well, not everything though.
Jungkook descended downstairs in formals only to witness Yoongi seated peacefully on the dining area. He was dressed for office as well.
The younger didn't say much. He seated himself on a chair as well.
Pancakes and Ramen. Same breakfast that he prepared for him and Taehyung just 1 or 2 days ago.
"Are you waiting for the breakfast to eat you?" Yoongi tried to lighten up the mood.
Jungkook flinched, without a reason, "What?"
"Calm down kook!" Yoongi caressed the younger's locks, "I didn't mean to scare you. Eat!"
Jungkook nodded. He shrugged off the unwanted thoughts and began to devour the tasty meal.
After a while, when they were done, Yoongi asked Jungkook to wait for him in the living room.
"What happened hyung?" Jungkook asked when Yoongi joined him.
"Sit!"
"Aren't we supposed to reach office? We're already late because of me." Jungkook scoffed.
"It doesn't matter right now. Have a seat first." Yoongi demanded which the younger agreed to.
"Now tell me, what's wrong?" Yoongi came straight to the point.
"Nothing is wrong hyung." Jungkook nervously smiled.
"Oh is it? Then why were you drunk last night in a local bar? You behaved so ridiculously that I had to bribe the staff to clear all those evidences where you were blabbering inappropriate stuff in public. You've blocked Taehyung, the one you had a date with. And above all those things, I'm your brother kook, I can feel it." Yoongi held Jungkook's palms in order to provide the warmth which he needed.
Jungkook remained silent.
"Are you worried that I'll tell Jimin?" Yoongi sensed the thought lingering in Jungkook's mind.
The younger nodded, "I don't want anyone else to know if Taehyung doesn't decide to tell them himself. I can tell you, I've the right to but Jimin hyung would definitely ask you about that and you'll be obliged to tell him."
"No kook, you're wrong." Yoongi snorted, "I know I've promised him that I'll never keep secrets from him but this doesn't mean I'll break the promises I made to you. Well, I may sound wrong here but this is a matter of fact, I'm biased towards you, I know I shouldn't be but I am."
Jungkook slightly chuckled, "I know hyung. So it happened yesterday-
Flashback
"Hah done for now. I should hand this pen drive to Hoseok hyung, he'll take care of the performance check." Jungkook stood up from his chair.
At first he thought of sending the drive through some staff but he halted. He decided to meet Hoseok himself and hence walked out of his cabin.
He wouldn't have supported this idea, only if he was aware of what was awaiting for him.
It was nearly evening. He had to cross-check the arrangements for his date as well.
"Where would be Mr. Jung at the current moment?" He asked the lady at the floor's counter.
The lady bowed and greeted Jungkook, "Just a second Sir." She looked through the screen, "In Mr. Kim Taehyung's practice room."
"Thankyou."
"Have a nice day sir."
Jungkook stepped into the elevator. He pressed the desired buttons and finally reached his destination. He found the door slightly opened and peeped through it. He found Taehyung and Hoseok seated on the floor while back-facing the door.
He was going to greet them cheerfully when Taehyung said the unbelievable.
"I don't want to go on the date hyung."
Hoseok sighed, "Then why did you agree?"
"Because I've a plan. If I would have politely disagreed to his proposal, he would definitely bother me in the future again." Taehyung scoffed, "I'll ditch him on the date and then text him about how much I hate him. He helped me once, doesn't mean I owe him my whole life."
"But don't you think that you are going way too far Tae? I mean what's his fault?" Hoseok reasoned.
"I don't know. It's just I don't want my life to be messed up. This plan will end this chapter at once." Taehyung smirked, "Anyways I'm coming in a while."
"Where?" Hoseok questioned.
"To the restroom, can I teacher?" Taehyung giggled.
"Shut up Tae!" Hoseok rolled his eyes. After Taehyung disappeared, his eyes trailed back to Jungkook standing against the door, blankly.
"Hey kook, what's up?" Hoseok beamed.
"N-nothing hyung. Here is this pen drive." Jungkook managed to smile, "I've some work to do. See ya later!"
"For the date hmm?" Hoseok teased.
Jungkook nodded and rushed away.
"He's desperate!" Hoseok mumbled to himself.
He stomped into his cabin and slammed the door shut behind him. He felt anger building up in his veins. The betrayal was more than enough to sow the seeds of hatred in his mind almost instantly.
"I never thought you can do this!" He yelled while swiping off all the stuff from the table.
"But I want to answer." Jungkook reminisced Taehyung's words when they had a conversation in his backyard.
"When did I force you huh? WHEN?!"
Soon Jungkook's breathes got steady. He retained his calm aura, a dangerously calm aura, "But fine. You reap what you sow, Mr. Kim."
Present
"Well, that's a bit" Yoongi hesitated, "you know, I can't digest this. Taehyung would never do this."
"I wasn't able to believe this either but I actually heard it myself." Jungkook sighed, "I don't know where we got wrong."
"You should talk to him about this." Yoongi suggested, "Maybe the truth comes out to be different."
"Or maybe an excuse disguised as a truth." Jungkook fidgeted his fingers, "Why would he tell me the truth if I myself ask him?"
"Then should I?"
"That's the same hyung." Jungkook got up, "Please don't discuss this with anyone. Please!"
"Yeah don't worry about that." Yoongi patted Jungkook's shoulders, "You can take a day off if you want."
"No it's fine hyung!"

Thursday, 1:00 pm - Black Swan Entertainment
"Come in." Jungkook ordered when he heard a knock on his cabin's door.
He himself didn't know what he felt the moment Taehyung walked in.
Whipped? Always.
Hatred? How can someone hate him?
Anger? Maybe a lot.
Love? Does that count?
Taehyung gently shut the door behind him. Silence engulfed the cabin as neither of them decided to speak.
Jungkook didn't spare a glance to the older. He kept on working or more accurately kept on pretending to work.
"Any business?" The younger finally broke the silence in the most formal way possible.
Taehyung nodded, "Are you okay? I mean, your health-"
"And how does that concern you?" Jungkook cut him off.
"And why won't?" Taehyung shot.
Jungkook shrugged, "I'm busy right now. You may leave."
Taehyung found no point to speak further. He turned his back and began to walk when Jungkook clicked the sensitive matter.
"Enjoyed the date Mr. Kim?"
Taehyung swirled around. He stared the younger for a while and passed a lazy grin, "A lot." He paused while his expressions changed into a frown, "Would you tell me what the fuck is wrong with you?"
"Mind your words Mr. Kim, in front of your boss." Jungkook calmly stated while piercing daggers through his intense gaze.
"How many times a week do you have that existential crisis? Sometimes you want me home, sometimes you want me on a date while sometimes you're my boss-"
"Enough!" Jungkook again interrupted the older, "Let me clarify all of it today. I'm your boss Mr. Kim, whom you don't respect very often."
"I-"
"Let me complete. The only other relationship we have is fake, right? Just because of your stupidity, I'm stuck in this fucking hell of a drama named a lovey-dovey relationship which we can never have." Jungkook turned back to his screen
Drama? Yeah right, drama!
"And yeah Mr. Kim, you should respect me. If not for my designation then for the fact that I helped you." Jungkook cocked a brow.
"Stop it Jungkook. You boast about this favour almost each time you're mad. If I would have known it earlier, I would have rather kept my reputation at stake." Taehyung slightly yelled.
Jungkook chuckled, "And guess what? I did it only because it included the reputation of my company. The company which pays you but still, you prioritised a bastard over that."
"Shut up Jungkook. I was really an idiot to confront you." Taehyung began to leave again, "and if this plan bothers your so much, ask Yoongi hyung to drop this right here. It has already been over 5 months."
"Nice idea Mr. Kim, I would surely look into it."
