The aftermaths of repenting are:

It brings you success, if we go on a path forbidden by Allah, you've chosen to miss out on His mercy, rewards, help, and protection. But at the moment that you sincerely repent, you can be assured of His help in your life.

Allah tells us:

{... And beg Allah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful.} ()

Repentance Keeps you away from Hardship

The more an individual sin, the more he or she can be deprived of Allah's blessings and the more trials he or she might have to endure. Tawbah can give us a way out of our troubles in life, as Allah says:

{See they not that they are put in trial once or twice every year (with different kinds of calamities, disease, famine)? Yet, they turn not in repentance, nor do they learn a lesson (from it).} ()

Repentance Earns you Allah's Love

Do you know that repentance is one of the most beloved acts of worship to Him? Allah says:

{... Truly, Allah loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves.} ()

This is the aftermaths of repenting, we need to understand how important seeking forgiveness from Allah is. This is something we should never give up on, this is a gift that only the followers of Islam have which is to be able to ask forgiveness from God, not from mankind. We know that when we repent sincerely then Allah will forgive our sin.
