♥ Chapter 6: The Bet♥

A/N: Ahh, yes. The music quotes begin :D (If I put lyrics at the beginning of a chapter, it means they inspired me to write something in the chapter. They're not apart of the chapter)

"Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness

but it's better than drinking alone."

-Billy Joel, Piano Man

I quickly opened the doors of the gym, releasing a flurry of cold, humid air upon myself. Was it already the end of the day? Wow, how time flew. G made his way up to me.

"Nice throw you did there."

"Thanks, you were pretty good too," I replied.

"Pretty good? C'mon dove, I saved ya twice. Give me more credit."
"Do you really want to go on who is the best? Cause I'll challenge you to a dodgeball match right here."
"Mmhm. I'll have to take you up on that," he winked as I felt a sudden shiver of cold. I turned to see what had caused my sudden chill: the downpour of rain that was taking place around us. Everyone was huddled under the awning as the coach took people one by one across with an umbrella slowly. I groaned and looked up at G who was taking his jacket off. Just as I was about to question his action he tossed it to me.

"Put the hood over your head and follow me, quick," he grabbed my sleeve as I threw on the jacket and the warm fur surrounded my head. He looked around until the teacher was distracted, then he helped me onto his back and he bolted through the rain. I wrapped my arms around his neck as the world seemed to fly by me. The rain pelted at my bare legs and arms and I laughed as we went around campus without a care. It was already the end of the day so there was no class to go to, no homework to turn in and best of all, no stress. This week had really flown by. It was already Wednesday, and I was excited for Fukufire's party that would take place in only two days. I giggled in anticipation. G chuckled back, probably at how fast we were running.

After a while of running around campus with me on his back he got exhausted, so his strides became slower and slower until he gave in and put me down. I slinked off his back and onto my feet. It was still pouring so we decided to look for an empty classroom to take shelter in.

It was a pretty old school, and some classes weren't being used, as the campus was strangely big. I always wondered why they put so many rooms and passages if they were never going to use them. Hell, there was even a guardhouse in the middle of the place. Makes you wonder if the place was once used for something else.

I strolled from classroom to classroom with him by my side until I turned to a relatively old one. I opened the door slowly and it creaked. It was a music room with several scattered chairs, a single working lightbulb and a baby grand piano in the corner. I looked around in wonder at all the instruments that hung on the wall, somehow undamaged. I pulled a rusty chair to the piano noisily and began to play my favorite song, Billy Joel's Piano man, lightly humming the tune. I did the first few refrains, and verses slowly, and then went back and did it again, faster, once I was confident.

I heard the scooting of a chair pulling up next to me. I turned my head ever so slightly, not wanting to break my focus on playing the song, to see G playing along with me timidly. I smiled softly and kept playing. Then he sang. I'm not sure why, but it surprised me. His singing voice wasn't as low as his usual voice, and I guess you could say it was kind of calming.

"Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness

But it's better than drinkin' alone," he sang softly. I joined in.

"Sing us a song you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well we're all in the mood for a melody
And you got us feeling alright," we sang. I looked up at G and couldn't help but laugh at how timid he looked when he sang. He stopped playing the piano and so did I.

"What's so funny?" he raised a non-existent eyebrow.

"N-Nothing," I snickered.

"Alright, my singing voice isn't that bad."

"No, it's not that, it's just," I calmed down my laughing, "You're so shy when you sing. It's so unlike you." He faked a confused face.

"Whatever ya say," he got up from his chair. "The rain's stopped."

I frowned. I was enjoying playing piano, but I got up nevertheless and followed him out. It was still dark out. How long had we been playing piano? I checked my watch. It's at least been two hours. Wow, how time flies.

He led me around the campus until we found his motorcycle. I tightened my grip on my backpack. He swung his leg over the seat, started the engine, revving it up and patting on the seat behind him. I smiled at him and took the seat as he sped off, yet again. My hair whipped at my back as he flew through the city with me clinging to his back. I buried my face in the crook of his neck and closed my eyes. I was tired, and I didn't really care if I fell asleep at this point. I was surprised at how soothing the smell of smoke was. The smell lingered around his collar and I subconsciously nuzzled my head closer to the crook of his neck trying to smell as much as I could. I felt his shoulders rise and fall as he chuckled at me, shaking his head. I was too damn exhausted to realize or care what I was doing. When I felt the motorcycle come to a stop, I fluttered my eyes open, expecting to see our run-down dormitory, but instead my eyes were met with the glittering open water. I raised my head up groggily and looked around. We were on a dock where the waves crashed and shone in the moonlight. He swung his leg over the side and turned so that he was sitting facing me.

"How do you like it sweetheart?" he smiled softly, looking around.

"Its..." I looked around and his head snapped back to my gaze, concerned. "It's so beautiful, thanks for taking me here," I said with a stupid grin on my face and hugged him in thanks.

"Heh, I'd hoped you'd love it," he said absentmindedly, looking around at the boats that slowly passed in the distance. I wondered how he found this place. We must've been driving for hours before we got here. It was so serene and calm. I exhaled, smiling softly at G's face. Damn, he looked so cute with that expression on his face. It was like he was curious but serious at the same time.

His gaze flitted down to meet mine slowly. I half expected him to make some flirty remark. Instead he just leaned forward and rested his forehead on mine. I leaned forward to meet his forehead. His white pupils stared back into mine. His gaze wasn't piercing like the coach's, challenging like Bratty's, or sickly like Chara's. His gaze was... I searched for the word. His gaze made me feel secure, protected even. I just sighed as we breathed in unison, not one daring to speak a word because it wasn't needed. Even the slightest movement was a communication. He ran his fingers through my hair slowly, smirking softly-almost with a hint of sadness in it. I heard the rough crashing of waves, signaling that a boat was close by. I blushed, hoping it wasn't someone I knew. His smirk faltered a bit when he saw the boat. He tugged at the edge of his hoodie that I was wearing so that our faces were hidden from the passersby's view and pulled me closer to him. It started to rain a bit, but I didn't notice as the droplets dripped down the strikingly white outline of his face.

His smirk returned, not caring about the rain that began to soak into his thick turtleneck. I giggled, feeling the rain pelt at the back of my-his black jacket. It gave me a sense of freedom, being out here, on his jet-black motorcycle, wearing his coal jacket, and looking into his ivory-white speckled eyes. It was like nothing mattered anymore. It was just me and him. Here. Now. In the moment.

He let his fingers drift from the hoodie to the zippered flaps of the jacket that were flapping in the ocean breeze. Oh, I thought to myself, I know what happens now. He pulled me towards him swift motion and closed his eyes and tilted his head, slowly coming closer attempting to close the fleeting distance between our lips.

I too fluttered my eyes closed and tilted my head. I clenched my fist lightly around his collar, about to pull him into the kiss before thunderstruck and I yelped, almost falling off the bike. He caught me by the collar of my shirt in a flash and hoisted me back on the bike. He looked away, a bright hue of yellow flooding onto his face. Blush? Pfft. No, it's probably just a reflection of the lightning.Ugh, what was I thinking? Pulling him into a kiss like that? Frisk get ahold of yourself, I scolded myself.

"Heh," he chucked, a hot mess. He put his face in his hands, a futile attempt to hide the sea of yellow blush on his face, "What've ya done to me, doll face..."

It was then, that I realized: sitting on his motorcycle, drenched in rain, wrapped in his jacket- I had fallen stupidly hard for this skeleton. That stupid, flirty-yet somewhat protective-G. Ugh, how I wish I knew what he's thinking.

G's POV

Stupid, Stupid, STUPID. What were you THINKING?! Pulling her into a kiss like that? Get ahold of yourself, G. She didn't even TRY to kiss you back. You probably scared her, idiot. You drove around for three hours trying to find that spot and now you just slipped up. Great going, G. She probably knows that every girl you've ever gotten with has just been a desperate attempt to find actual love. Like a guy like you would ever find love, I told myself, silently slapping myself in my mind, for now, keep your cool, play it off as if it was nothing. If anyone asks about it, it never happened. Yeah, you've got this.

I revved the motorcycle and drove as fast as I could back to our dorms. I slowed down and parked the bike and helped her off. I awkwardly opened the doors to the building and she smiled in thanks.

"Hey, G?" she said, looking up at me curious.

"Yea, dove?"

"Have you ever pulled an all-nighter?"

I smirked. Two can play at that game.

"I bet you can't stay up the whole night with me," I replied.

"Deal," She shook my hand, smiling up at me.

A/N: Ooh :3 An all-nighter for the two of them. (Btw this doesn't mean smut. There won't be smut in this story, sorry. There will be lots of sweet, adorable fluff tho <33)

(I do not own Piano Man by Billy Joel or any of its lyrics)
