01 | STEFAN SALVATORE
Chapter One ; STEFAN SALVATORE
ALL DAY Charlie had a hard time ignoring what she saw and it didn't help with everyone questioning her if she was really okay. Of course she was okay, to a point, but her vision or whatever you call it freaked her out.
She had no idea who that man was or why she even drew him in the first place. Charlie would admit that he was attractive in a sense but every time she looked at the drawing a chill went down her spine and it wasn't a good one.
The sound of the locker next to her slamming shut caused her to jump, pulling her away from her thoughts. Turning to her left she spot the new guy from this morning.
"I'm sorry, did I scare you?" he asked. His voice was calm and soothing, something that Charlie liked.
"Yeah but it's okay. I zoned out there for a minute," Charlie said
The boy nodded slightly then held his hand out in front of Charlie, "Stefan Salvatore."
Charlie put her hand in his and shooked his hand, "Charlotte Gilbert but–."
A slight gasp left Charlie as she felt herself being pulled away from reality.
Charlie found herself sitting outside on the church steps. She was dressing in a black dress like you would for a funeral as a small child sat in a carrier next to her. Hot tears where streaming down her face.
The sound of someone leaving the church rang through her ears. She knew exactly who it was before they even left the church.
"She's gone Stefan, she's gone and there is nothing I can do to help her. I should have been here. I should have," her voice came out a shaken mess. The feeling of whoever she lost was drowning her, almost like it was her other half that she was never without her entire life.
"You and Bonnie will find a way to get her back. I know you both will. But you have to stay strong. For you, for her, for Hope," Stefan said placing a hand on her shoulder.
Once again it was gone as soon as it came. The hot tears she felt in the vision where rolling down her face in reality. This only made Stefan feel concerned and worried for the brunette in front of him. "Are you okay?"
Charlie looked at Stefan and realized she was still at school. Quickly she wiped the tears away and nodded. "Yeah, yeah I'm fine. I'm so sorry I have no idea what's getting into me today. But I was saying everyone calls me Charlie, not Charlotte."
"Charlie, got it," Stefan said. But before he could say more the sound of someone calling for Charlie echoed in the loud hallway. Both turned around to find the spunky blonde known as Caroline walking over with Bonnie in tow.
"Run," Charlie said simply looking at Stefan.
"Excuse me?"
"I said run. Better do it now or else you will get pulled into the world that is Caroline Forbes and sometimes it isn't a place you want to be." Charlie was joking of course, just a little.
A smile found itself growing on Stefan's lips. "Okay, well I'll see you around Charlie."
"Bye green eyes."
"I thought it was hot back?"
"Oh my god," Charlie muttered, "you heard all of that?"
"Maybe," Stefan chuckled and walked away as the girls approached.
"What are you doing?" Charlie turned to face Caroline.
"What do you mean?" she asked.
"'Bye green eyes' and 'hot back'? You broke it off with Tyler only a few months ago and your already flirting? Have I taught you nothing?" Caroline asked
"Whoa whoa whoa. Who said that was flirting? That wasn't flirting," Charlie said
"Well it seems like someone thought it was," Bonnie said looking behind Charlie. She turned around and spot Tyler Lockwood down a row of lockers watching Charlie for a minute longer before turning around and leaving.
"If he didn't hate me before then he certainly hates me now," Charlie frowned.
"Let's forget about exs and go to the Mystic Grill for some fries and talk about Mr. Salvatore," Caroline said hooking her arms with Bonnie and Charlie then began to drag them down the hall.
"Remind me why we're friends again?" Charlie smiled
"Because of my awesome taste in fashion and amazing advice when it comes to guys," Caroline said in a duh tone.
"Really? I thought it was because you came up to us one day in first grade and declared we were your best friends," Bonnie said. Charlie could only smile at the two girls next to her.
✰✰✰
Walking into the mystic grill, Caroline wouldn't stop talking about Stefan Salvatore, not even for a moment.
"His name is Stefan Salvatore. He lives with his uncle up at the old Salvatore Boarding House. He hasn't lived here since he was a kid. Military family, so they moved around a lot. He's a Gemini, and his favorite color is blue."
Charlie let out a low whistle as Bonnie spoke, "You got all of that in one day?"
"Oh, please, I got all of that between third and fourth period. We're planning a June wedding," the blonde said with a smug smile.
"Ah, the June wedding. Who am I suppose to marry then?" Charlie asked
When they were kids, the two of them planned out their perfect weddings in a book. Their dream was to have a double wedding in June.
"Don't worry we will find you someone. You were always the one to prefer the bad boys," Caroline said, "Ooo maybe Stefan has an older brother."
"Depends on how old," Charlie said
"Ex boyfriend, twelve o'clock," Bonnie said pointing over a table in the corner that held both Tyler and Matt.
Charlie mentally groaned at herself for forgetting that the boys usually come to the grill after school till football practice started. "Can I just go to a corner and die?"
"What? No! You're going to show Ty that you don't need him and that you've never been better," Caroline said and dragged Charlie to a table before she could change her mind.
Charlie could feel Tyler's eyes on her. It honestly made her feel uncomfortable with her not being over the whole breaking up with him thing. One of the main reasons why she did break up with Tyler was because she didn't want Elena to feel worst about breaking up with Charlies boyfriend's best friend, Matt. It seemed like Charlie was doing a lot of things lately to accommodate to her twin's needs.
The Gilbert girl was so lost in thought that she didn't notice Caroline and Bonnie leave and Matt replacing them.
"Hey Charlie," Matt said
"Hiya Matty boy," Charlie smiled but it didn't last, "How's Ty?"
"Dealing in his own way."
"You mean by sleeping with someone else?" The question was blunt yes, but Charlie didn't want to beat around the brush with the one thing that was bothering her the most.
Matt was quite by Charlie's question but he managed to nod. A sigh fell from her lips. "Do you know who he's seeing?"
Matt was hesitant, "You aren't gonna be too happy when you find out."
"Who is it Matt?" Charlie asked
"Vicki," the response was quick, almost as if he was afraid to say it.
Charlie could feel her heart sinking to her stomach. Of course it would be Vicki. She was beautiful. It wasn't like she could walk over to him and simply ask for forgiveness, win him back, and everything be like a fairytale again. Cause it wasn't a fairytale, if it was then it was more like a Grimm Brother's Tale then one from Disney.
"You know he talks about you a lot?" Matt asked
"But talking doesn't mean he will forgive me," Charlie moved her head back and forth as she spoke.
When Charlie looked at Matt, the expression in his face looked as if he is deep in thought on something. "What is it Matt?"
"What if I can get you two along, without interruption. Would you finally talk to him and work things out?" Matt asked
"Yes. If I do the same with you and Elena will you talk to her and work things out?" Charlie asked
"Deal." The two of them shared a smile.
It was another moment of silence before Matt spoke up again. "Has she said anything about me?"
"Oh, no. I'm not getting into it. Just give her more time, she needs it more than anyone."
What happened next was as if it would be on cue in a movie after Charlie finished her sentence. Elena walked into the grill with none other the Stefan Salvatore himself.
"More time, huh?" Matt looked at Charlie as a frown settled on both of their faces. But before Charlie could stop him, Matt was already up and introducing himself to Stefan.
"Can this day get any worse?"
✰✰✰
Currently Charlie was sitting around a table with her sister, Caroline, Bonnie, and Stefan. It was a game for Charlie to see who was winning Stefan's attention, the only contestants where Elena and Caroline. And not much to her surprise was Elena winning.
"So, You where born in Mystic Falls?" Caroline asked. She was leaning on the table trying to get a little closer to the very attractive brunette. Honestly Charlie thought is Care was to lean any closer she would be crawling across the table right into Stefan's lap.
"Mm-Hmm. And moved when I was still young," Stefan replied, his attention almost fully on Elena.
"Parents?" Bonnie asked, she was thinking much of the same thing as Charlie was.
That question seemed to throw Stefan off a bit. "My parents passed away."
Instantly the twins frowned upon hearing that, they both understand the feeling. "I'm sorry. Any siblings?"
"None that I talk to. I live with my uncle."
Everyone could feel the awkward silence that was soon to follow but before it could hit Caroline spoke up. "So, Stefan, if you're new, then you don't know about the party tomorrow."
Charlie could see the confusion pop up on Stefan's face. "It's a back to school thing at the falls," She explained.
Stefan's nodded before turning to Elena again. "Are you going?"
"Of course she is," Bonnie said with a smirk on her features. Charlie could feel that the party would get interesting but there was this small gut feeling that it wouldn't end well.
