I WALKED INTO MY HISTORY CLASS, a class I had with no friends. I was alright with being alone. The classroom was empty when I walked in, so I had first pick on where I wanted to sit. I didn't really care about people and their already designated seats, I'll sit where I want.

I choose to sit in the back corner again as students trickled into the classroom. I sat in my seat and pulled my phone out, I had a message from Monty which excited me slightly.

MONTY. ☆

Hey Bonnie,
I just got outta juvy they let
me off with a warning. where you at?
seen 2:12 p.m.

Hunter and I are in a
new foster home.
I

'll come to see you after school.

delivered 2:13 p.m.

A bag slammed down on the table beside me. I didn't flinch I just glanced over to see the boy from earlier, Jace yelling across the classroom to his friends as he sat down. He had quickly finished his conversation as the teacher hurried in and told him to be quiet, directing his attention to me. I felt the boy staring at me so I snapped my head towards him.

"Can I help you?" I asked rudely. Jace's face fell to a small frown as if he didn't expect the rudeness from me. I took a brief moment to take in his dark features, he had black hair, black ripped jeans, black denim jacket with a dark gray shirt. He was very punk, black definitely was his thing. He didn't have piercings but his eyes were so blue they substituted for his lack of face jewelry. His lips seemed to be naturally the colour blood red, my eyes trailed back to his eyes with a frown. Bags and discolouration under his eyes suggest the lack of sleep this boy receives.

"You're sitting in my seat so now you have to deal with me." He says turning to face the front and lean back in his chair. Once he became comfortable in his chair he spoke again with his head still facing the front of the classroom. Jace would have to be the most attractive boy I had seen in a very long time, and it intimidates me a little.

"So what's your deal anyway?" He exhaled glancing over to me with a side-eye. I wasn't sure how to answer the question so I just looked away from him uninterested.

"Like saving disabled kids from getting beaten up, sitting with losers at lunch. You're clearly not one of them. You're like me." Jace continued. I glanced over to him, my eyebrows knitting together in a frown.

"You don't know me. I'm definitely not like you," I scoffed. "You see, I don't even know your name but that attitude right there. That's what I mean." Jace states sitting up in his chair as a worksheet is given around the room.

"Are you gonna tell me what your name is, new girl? Or am I just gonna have to keep talking to myself?" He questioned sarcastically. I glanced over to him and debated on telling him my name, sometimes a name can be too personal to tell a stranger.

"Bonnie," I answered. He pouts his lips and nods slowly. "I can already tell that you're gonna turn a lot of heads at this school Bonnie." He says looking down at the worksheet on his desk.

"You should sit with me and my friends at lunch tomorrow." He states abruptly causing me to snap my head towards him, slightly angered by his statement. Did he have a problem with Billy and Freddy?

"Okay calm down, look I get it." He says with a chilled and soft tone. "But you don't have to sit with them just because you live with them and they are the only people you know. I'm not the coolest kid in school, in fact, cool kids shit me. I don't have anything against Billy or Freddy, I've never spoken to them but they seem like great guys. But Bonnie, hanging around them is basically like social suicide. You can't get through school with them, it would make your life easier if you stuck with me." Jace explains.

I understood what he meant, Billy and Freddy were losers but I barely cared about the social hierarchy of this school. I knew I'd probably be getting kicked out or moved to a new foster home soon anyway so it didn't matter. It's not like I can't look after myself when I have targeted every day anyway, that was what my life was like on the streets anyways.

"Just think about it," Jace says as he noticed me in deep thought. I glared at him and tucked my hair behind my ears. "You won't tell me what to do." I simply say. Jace leans back in his chair again, his feet kicking the underneath of our desk.

"That's what I like about you, Bonnie. No one tells you what to do but you." He says nodding slowly. I stared down at my desk thinking intensely. I didn't like how intrusive this boy was, it made me want to hit him.

"Quit looking at me like that, does your face do anything else apart from frown?" He joked although I hadn't found it funny. "Come on its last period lighten up a little bit." He chuckles as he playfully hit my shoulder.

"Oi Jace!" a boy from across the classroom yelled. Jace looked over to the boy and sat up in his chair. "Yo," Jace answered. "You going to the party Friday night? Shawn's house?" The blonde boy questioned. "Course I am a dipshit." Jace chuckled before the teacher hollered at him for his language. He ignored the teacher and turned back to me.

"So, how's about it new girl? You like to party? Shawn's a senior, we're tight with him." Jace says casually. I thought about it for a moment, narrowing my eyes suspiciously at the boy. "You want me to go with you?" I say raising my eyebrow at him.

He kept his calm and cool demeanor, he seemed to have a dominating personality, but so do I. He thought deeply for a moment before a friendly smile spread on his face. "Yeah, with me." He finally spoke. I nodded slowly, examining the boy.

"Alright, but I am bringing some friends," I stated as if he had no choice at all. He raised his eyebrows and nodded slowly. "Deal," He speaks abruptly.

I look to the front of the class and then slowly back to him. His hair was a mess of curls and he flashed his perfectly straight white teeth at me causing me to narrow my eyes on him. I already knew his true intentions I'm not an idiot.

"I can see you're very sus about me new girl," Jace pointed out looking over to me with his beautiful and bright blue eyes. I narrowed my eyes on him edging him to continue.

"You got nothing to worry about, we ain't the dudes you gotta worry about. I've got your back if you got mine," He says giving me a slight comforting nod.

"I know you're not gonna trust me that easy, I mean look at me, who would? You'd be a fuckin' idiot but I like you, Bonnie, you seem pretty badass and you'd fit right in with my guys." He says sitting up in his chair.

"I don't fit in anywhere," I frowned keeping a poker face. Jace exhaled as he held back a small laugh. "Everyone fits in somewhere, even if it's with the kids that don't fit in at all," Jace gestures to the rest of his group. They all seemed mismatched like someone had tried to jam the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle together. A girl sat with a boy, the boy had black hair, black jeans but a bright purple bucket hat.

The girl had fiery red curly hair that went past her waist, she wore a summer dress with flowers and a black leather jacket. Another boy was literally wearing a suit, black tie and all. They were all extremely different people. I turned my head back to Jace and nodded slowly.

"I'll see you at the party, Bonnie," Jace smiled smugly. Once the bell had rung for home time I was the first out of the classroom, I dunno what that Jace guys deal is but I wanna get away from him. I pushed the double doors open and looked behind me to see the large stampede of kids stomping towards me.

I left the school grounds quickly before anyone could have seen I was gone. I shoved my earphones in, muting the busy world around me as I walked down city streets.

Some people seemed desperate to get past, shoving and pushing to get to taxis on the sides of the road. My hands were buried in my bomber jacket, nipping an apple of a storefront as I walked past. The apple was crisp and the juices leaked into my mouth as a grin spread across my lips.

The afternoon was nearly night as I reached my old home, a few tents under a highway. I saw a figure standing by the unpitched tents, some of them falling over. This area looked pretty much abandoned. I took my earphones out and studied the figure as I stepped closer.

"Aye! Bonnie," Monty calls as he exhaled smoke from his mouth. His signature leather jacket a new burns and scuff marks on it as I ran fingers over the imperfections.

"Some dickhead hit me with his car today, my bet is that it was Nate's crew," Monty states with hate. I sigh and look up at the older boy as he held a cigarette between his fingers.

"How ya been Bonnie, what happened to this place huh? I'm gone for a week and you people do this to our home?" He speaks throwing an arm over my shoulders as we watched over the abandoned camp. The sun was setting turning the sky a nice shade of pink.

"Hunter and I are in foster care again. And I haven't seen the others since that night," I spoke sadly. "What? No way," Monty says retracting his arm from my shoulders and turning to look at me with wide eyes. I nodded slowly.

"Where am I supposed to go, Bonnie?" Monty frowned slightly panicked. Monty was only a year older then me, seventeen but no one wants to foster a seventeen-year-old kid crook on drugs and shit.

I looked up to the boy I had known for so many years, he was desperate and in need of help. I took one last bite from my apple and discarded it onto the ground. "Hey Monty, relax I got your back just like you always got mine, alright?" I said reassuringly. He nodded slowly and calmed his tense body.

I took the cigarette from his hands and took a long drag from the bar of death before handing it back to him. "Alright let's see what I can do for ya,"

I began to walk toward Hunter's tent, it was tipped over and empty cans were scattered all around. Monty pulled the tent up as I got down on my knees and shifted through the piles of junk, shoving a few of his valuable belongings into my school bag. I found the small wooden box I had been looking for, the box had a delicate and detailed sunset sky painted on the outside.

I exited the tent and Monty let go of the material causing it to collapse in a heap on the ground. Monty stared down at the box and then back to me narrowing his eyes. I opened the box from the golden clasp and a wad of cash was bundled up in some rubber bands.

"Whoa," Monty exhaled as he threw his cigarette on the ground and stomped it into the dirt. I gave handed Monty a few notes of cash. "Are you sure Bonnie?" Monty frowned.

"You're family, of course, I'm sure. Now I want you to get a room at the shady ass motel down the street. Get some sorta microwave dinner and I'll come and get you tomorrow, alright?" I say putting the rest of the money in my bag. Monty nodded slowly acknowledging he understood what I was saying.

"Okay, I gotta go, just text or call if you're dying or somethin," I nonchalantly say. "Thank you," Monty replies. I just nod my head and put my earphones back in before walking away from my new responsibility.

I was walking down the street, it was right and there were many adults around looking down on me. Through the crowds of faces, I recognized a face, the last one I'd be wanting to see right now considering I am very alone. It was Nate, the leader of some gang called 'Red Skeletons' and they fucking hated my guts.

His dark black eyes quickly directed to my gaze, hate filling his eyes as he wacked the chest of a boy beside him. They both broke into a sprint towards me, I stopped in my tracks. My heart pounding in my ears as I turn on my heels and push as many people as I could out of my way.

"You can't run from us, Bonnie!" Nate's deep voice echoed in my ears. The adrenaline in my veins raced through my body, I didn't have my brother to protect me and this time I was sure I am done for.
