Epilogue

Where is that boy! Hiccup thought annoyed as he flew around Berk. He wasn't his old self anymore. He has a gruff beard and slight white hairs mixed into his auburn. He was around forty, though he looked to be around his early thirties. He wore a wolf head headdress which was still attached to the rest of the pelt, which flowed into a eloquent brown cloak. He wore leather armor of a lighter color than his old, which matched his snow white wolf pelt.

He growled in frustration which caused Toothless to glance back with concern. Hiccup just sighed as he motioned for Toothless to land. The dragon did as his friend wished and tilted his wings so he lightly glided to the earth. Hiccup jumped of with a light thud as he made his way through the village. "Dad!" A little, eight year old blond girl called as she ran toawrds her father. Her forest green eyes filled with excitement as she ran towards the chief. A red baby nadder followed her, playfully nipping and her heels as she ran and hid behind her father. She giggled as the dragon stopped and tilted its head at the chief questioningly. She pointed at him and said, "Skyfire wants to play tag but I don't want to! He always wins!" The dragon puffed up and growled menacingly in a playful way as he batted his wings. "Holda, play tag with the dragon, he'll go easy, right Skyfire?" The dragon huffed some smoke in agreement causing the little girl to sream with joy and run after the dragon. Hiccup smiled and shook his head as he started thinking about his kids.

His oldest was named Hadvar. He is bulky, like Fishlegs and has Hiccup's auburn hair and Astrid's blue eyes. He trained a blue monstrous nightmare and named him Gobber after his 'Grandpa Uncle Gobber', who preferred to be called 'Uncle Gobber' but He was a lot more like a grandpa so hence the tittle, 'Grandpa Uncle Gobber'. Then, there was his youngest, Holda. She was a rambunctious little one whi was also fearless. She spends way too much time with Ruff's and Fishleg's identical twin sons, Whalelegs and Strongnut, who have unfortunately taken to their mom and uncle's trouble making ways. And finally, his middle children, Solaris and Stoik. They are twins, but obviously not identical. Solaris is a fierce red headed girl with a warrior's heart. She trained and now rides a skrill named Doom. She has Astrid's blue eyes with a sligh bit of green mixed in, and wears Astrid's old clothes (the red ones, the blue is reserved for Holda).

And then, there is Stoick, the child he is looking for right now. There is little to no difference between he and Hiccup when he was his age, 18. The boy had his auburn hair, forest green eyes (which where flecked with sky blue thanks to his mother), and even wore a similar green shirt, fur vest, dark brown pants, and furry boots. He was slightly buffer and had a slightly higher voice than Hiccup when he was his age, but those where the only differences. And they where very, VERY slight differences. Frustrated, Hiccup plopped down into a chair and rubbed his temples as he started running through his brain of every place he could possibly be.

He was so lost, he hadn't realized Astrid had returned from Gobber's until she placed a gentle hand on Hiccup's shoulder. He sighed in frustration, closed his eyes and grabbed her hand. "What am I going to do with that boy", Hiccup sighed as he opened his eyes once more. Astrid leaned down and pecked Hiccup's cheek with a kiss as she replies in mumbles, "I don't know, what are you going to do with him?"

"I don't know, everyone wants Hadvar as chief, Solaris is viewed as the prettiest girl on Berk and Holda... she is DEFFINATLY going to become a trouble maker. Stoick is... just there, the middle child of Chief Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. The scrawny one... just like me. Except I wasn't shadowed by siblings... unless you count Snotlout... oh, if dad wgere here!" Hiccup buried his face into his hands as he thought of Stoick's death. He was able to hold Hadvar and play with him, but then winter came and, due older and weakened body, he developed a serious cold that he was too stubborn to cure. He died within a few weeks, a way Hiccup knew his father hated. He prayed that he'd still be permitted into the Halls of Valhalla despite not dying in battle. He was in battle though, he was battling with Death himself..., he would think to help cope with the death. A few weeks later, Astrid got pregnant again and gave birth to the twins, and named the boy from his father.

"What am I going to do? Where would he have gone?"

"Hiccup, you should know. After all, he is your son, who is basically... well... you."

Thats when it hit him. "Astrid, I know where he is... it's time."

She knew what he was talking about, and squeezed his shoulder. "Go."

***

"Argh! Why is Berk so...." Stoick Hofferson Haddock paced around the cove running his hands through his messy auburn hair. He plopped down on the ground and sighed out loud. He remembered when his father brought him and his twin sister here. He had told them that this was the place where he and Toothless bonded. This place had good yet painful memories for the pair, yet was an overall place to escape and relax. Stoick liked the peacefulness of the place.

The sound of the wind ruffling the trees and the sounds of wildlife all around them. Yes, them. Sitting not too far away, lay a female night fury. She had the body build, eyes, and the attitude of her mother Mist, while having the black scales of her father. Uniquely, she also has small amounts of white scales scattered throughout her body like twinkling stars. She was drawn to Stoick, and they became as close, if not closer, than Hiccup and Toothless. He named her Midnight, his favorite time of night, when the sky is at it's darkest and he can see the shining stars bursting like millions of dragons breathing fire from far, far away.

"Why is it that I feel I should have never... existed?"

"I feel you."

Stoick jumped up with a yelp as he turned to see his father lounging on the ground beside him. Hiccup started busting up as he saw the immense puzzlement bestowed upon his sons face as he started jumbling up his words, "wha-?! Where-!? How-?! But... but how?!"

While that spectical was going on, Toothless jogged up to his daughter warbling happily. The dragons touched foreheads and purred, for they haven't really been able to see eachother much and, much like Stoick  (the son) and Hiccup, they where very close. When they pulled away, they sat down and watched the human father and son interaction with intrigue.

After Hiccup calmed down, he developed a serious look and started saying, "I know how you are feeling right now. Like you should have never existed. Like an outcast... even a 'renegade'. But-."

"No dad, you don't. You were an only child! At least people paid attention to you-"

"Negative attention-".

"At least they knew your name-".

"They called me 'The Useless' if they didn't know my name-".

"And they call me 'The Unworthy!'"

Hiccup shot up and glanced at his son with barely controlled rage as he growled, "who?" Stoick jumped at the immediate change of his father's attitude, then sighed as he waved his hand in the air. "Everyone, Hadvar, Solaris, Meatwad, Strongnut, Whalelegs, Starla... and so many more. Oh, and I can't wait till Little Holda starts calling me 'The Unworthy'-".

"Stoick... it's time I showed you something", Hiccup interrupted as he started to stand. When Stoick stood as well, Hiccup placed hus hand on his son's shoulder and asked, "when I first showed you this place, you pointed something out to me. You thought I ignored you, but I didn't. Can you tell me what it was that you found intresting?"

It was Stoick's turn to roll his eyes as he said, "that was, like, fourteen years ago! What does that-".

"Stoick? Please?"

Stoick sighed as he thought back to that day...

"And this-", 26 year old Hiccup showed with four year old Solaris and Stoick following close behind, "-is where I trained Toothless! Isn't it beautiful?"

They two children stared at the bowl shaped cove with wide, innocent eyes as they took in the beautiful scenery. Midnight ran over to Stoick and jumped on his shoulder (due to her being the same age but haven't had her growth spurt yet she was able to sit on his shoulders) and glanced into the cove with the small viking. A few seconds later, Toothless came bouncing into the area and came to his rider's side. Hiccup scratched behind the dragon's ear causing him to purr in pleasure. The chief then jumped upon the dragon's back and motioned for his kids to get on. Once Solaris and Stoick where situated, they gently glided down into the cove. The kids immediately jumped off to explore the new area. Solaris immediately ran to the water to look at the fish as Stoick started taking in his surroundings. He pulled out a small, leather bound sketch book and started drawing everything in surprising detail for a child as young as himself.

Then suddenly, something on a boulder caught his eye. Without the boy knowing, Hiccup immediately snapped his head in that direction and saw as his son approached the all too familiar bolder. Stoick bent down and ran his hand over the symbol that was carved onto the rock. He and Midnight glanced at eachother and turned towards Hiccup (who immediately looked away as if he wasn't watching them) and yelled, "DAD! DID YOU SEE THIS?!"

"Hmm? Oh yes, that's nice, we need to return home soon, come here Stoick! Solaris!"

A small 'awe' was heard from Solaris as Stoick sighed and returned to his father's side. The re-mounted Toothless and returned to Berk.

Stoick, as if in a trance, started to walk over to the very boulder he had seen fourteen years ago. He bent down and ran his hand over the symbol that he now knew was 'the strike class'. He then noticed that the ground around it looked like it was disturbed a long time ago.

"Something is... buried", he breathed as he glanced towards his father. Hiccup nodded and placed his hand on his son's shoulder, "find what is buried and you will find your fate. You will not be chief, that's true, but you will become something much more important."

With that said, Hiccup turned to Toothless, mounted and flew off. Stoick turned to Midnight and asked, "can you please helo me?" She nodded and quickly set to workn she dug and dug until she hit something solid.  Stoick jumped down and together they hulled an old chest onto the surface. The middle son immediately threw off the top and stared at the equipment within with wide eyes. He bent down and gingerly creased the mask.

I thought those where just... so dad was... and now I am the...
