5- Defying Royalty
My Father looms over me, still pulling my hair, and throws me hard towards the wall. The impact knocks the wind out of me and I slump to the ground. But I count to three and then stand on my shaky legs.
"We have to talk, Estelle", my father says with a revolted expression, as if even the thought of that is making him sick. I stay quiet, planning my next move. He, being the jerk that he is, takes my silence as a sign of obedience and continues. "In a few weeks time you will be united in marriage with Lord Caverly. The kingdom needs a royal wedding in these trying times."
Bloody trying times. Ohh, this was so rich coming from the man who made the lives of uncountable people miserable. He was the one who had caused these trying times. And now he needed me to clean his mess.
"So, basically I'm a scapegoat in your twisted plans.", My words dry as I look at Caverly. Never in a million years would I even consider the prospect of marriage with him. I scoffed inside. A person who drank the blood of innocent people to boost his ego. The thoughts cause my anger to resurface, and the only thought that calmed me was his body lying lifeless on the floor. I smiled at the thought. Then I looked straight at him and said:
"No"
Their expressions changed to surprised first then their faces contorted in rage. I fixed them with a patronizing look and shook my head again.
"No, Not happening", I repeat. Then with a tilt of my head I turn to leave, and I hear him shout. My father's voice booms across the room, "Your union will take place after 2 weeks". I turn around, giving him a mock bow and then point towards Caverly,
"Not if he's six feet under the ground. Then it won't happen at all"
I walk out, leaving the two men steaming. The fact brought me immense satisfaction.
As I walk towards my room, I grin.
Let's play, Shall We?
