so this is like a v smol one. 
I write a lot of them they're free verse and they're very quick. I edit later.

Things We Found When We Weren't Looking For Them

People used to say that our minds shared a dialogue,

that we could share stories with less than a look.

I almost believed it in the summers

when you could glance into the waves and describe

Everything

and there is a paleness about you I can't explain.

There is no treasure like the ocean,

nothing stronger than the fickle band

of a dune grass necklace (plus or minus seashell)

and nothing more constant

than the ever changing population

of crabs and seagulls who know our names.

Sand is like memory, we try to shake it off

because it is an inconvenience to know times like these

existed and yet I find it in unconventional places

and start thinking about you anyways.
