Daily Doodle- Roses and Thorns Character Doodles
Three important things before I get started tonight, because I'm going to duck out fast as possible!
1) I use doodles in the loosest sense of the word.
2) None of this is completely set in stone. I've axed a main character and important plot pivot in the last three days. In the last week I've decided on almost half the cast.
Last minute character development is hell on earth.
3) I kind of... don't have a cover?
Man this year is a shitstorm. If anyone can cover, can you contact me please? Sorry Q-Q
anyhow some doodles
Look familiar to anyone? Must just be your eyes. Ace Violaera is a dark-eyed forager and farmer who enjoys dramatically sticking wheat in his mouth and spending time with Asha, his adopted younger sister. He's generally down-to-earth, but there's still a fair amount of whimsy about him when he goes off with Asha on their "adventures".
Asha Violaera is precocious, precious, and pretty much the only Canis in town who thinks Ivy Eudica is worth talking to, aside from her brother. No one but Ace knows where she came from but the Violaeras have adopted her as one of their own and no one has dared bother her since. She's an idealist who is shy at first but is incredibly affectionate to those she has grown close too. No one quite understands the way she sees the world, save for Ace.
Tammory is the adviser of Eris, official "head" of the Glade, but in actuality she spends most of her time with the other hunters. She's not a risk taker by any means of the word and is constantly worried about either the winter or a theoretical natural disaster. Whatever it is, everyone better be ready.
Shea doesn't actually live in the Glade. She lives just outside of it, and her hobbies include sunbathing, listening to gossip, and giving Tammory a heart attack. She'll tell you anything for the appropriate payment... or at least, she claims she will. Whether or not she actually knows everything is up for debate.
(Rose doesn't think so.)
Rose Eudica (two sisters not pictured) is known primarily for her habit of doing odd jobs rather than, say, taking up a permanent position. While a bit strange, she's certainly efficient and has a logical approach to just about everything.
Lark and Nimbus are third cousins, though you'd never know it from their appearance or their attitude. Lark is quiet and introspective while Nimbus is loud and impeccably good at sneaking up behind unsuspecting victims. Regardless, the two Canira are expert hunters and are rarely seen apart from each other.
Since there are only enough working members of the Glade to perform essential jobs, Anassa has put aside her personal dream job (librarian) and works in farming. However, when she's not busy, she tries to quietly loan her scrolls to anyone and everyone in town. She's best friends with the merchant Canira and dragons who occasionally visit with news and scrolls. She also has a small crow friend named Pea, who returns every spring and never seems to have gotten any larger.
Rye is the baker and official mom friend of the Glade. No one knows how old she is because she appears young but will aggressively mother everyone and anyone regardless of rank or status. Her cider is legendary and her home is the best place to relax after a long day in the field. She'd be more than happy to have you, after all.
Morgan was Rye's first "assistant" (read: stray/adopted daughter) and is blessed with the powers of decay and death, which she uses to ferment berries and help bread rise. She is mute and while she is not readily hostile, no one seems to want to engage in conversation with her.
Blitz is Rye's second assistant and keeps things warm and cozy in the winter. He'll cook about anything in minutes and is exceptionally hungry 90% of the time, though he'll try to hide it. He's bulky and would likely make a good hunter, but he seems to have a fear of both fighting and making the actual kills. Some think it might be a fear of death, but he and Morgan get along famously.
Alabaster is in charge of the jail and the hunters. Rose and he are close on a purely intellectual level, as they enjoy long conversations about morality and fate together. He's more popular than Morgan purely because of the weight of his position, but few really like him. The constant death glare he gives everyone doesn't seem to help much either.
The Hunter, as he claims to be called, is the newest resident of the Glade. He lives in the jail cell.
As of the beginning of Roses and Thorns, his execution is scheduled for the next day.
