Daily Doodle- Of Gods And Mortals 2

It's one of those nights where I feel like writing something but deeeefinitely not the stories I'm supposed to be (contractually obligated to continue) writing but I just felt the incessant need to do something important and I suppose I needed to do this...

By the way, this took TWO HOURS.

So first of all you can see 1) a lot of bones and 2) that my phone is murdering my image quality lately. Well, who are these mysterious strangers?
Just kidding a lot of you probably already know them seeing as they were a major part of my ninth grade. I think they're one of... what, six major stories that I developed this year? They're definitely one of four new universes, two of which I made in the last quarter of the year, and trust me those do not happen often.

Basically the original premise was really gimmicky and required intimate knowledge of all my worldbuilding, almost all my works, and then a handful of fandoms to get. Through some revision and changing their designs somewhat (read: making them suck less) I've managed to scoot that over to "general knowledge of Chronaverse history".

The general concept is that because the Canis didn't pick up their weapons/dead loved ones before leaving this one battlefield, some people on the world find a Canis skeleton and in trying to replicate the energy emanating from the horns (mainly from the dead Canis's spirit unable to return home) they accidentally discover the multiverse. Several experiments and a little bit of playing god later they manage to create what appear to be children who possess the same wavelength. At first they're really confused because they were trying to replicate the Canis's DNA but these guys are shapeshifters and they don't have Canis blood, instead, they have a random scramble of traits and 'data' from across the multiverse.

Like any kids in a foreboding factory with morally ambiguous scientists, they break out and live a nice life together on the run. There are twelve of them in total and they've all got pretty different wants and desires, as well as moral standards, but the biggest thing that drives them apart is the question they don't talk about- exactly how human they are and if they deserve to exist.

Red and Kali (pictured above), like the rest of the team, both possess a single "true" form which is seen above, which is both a combination of all their dormant DNA they've acquired from being mutant hellspawns but also pretty large reflections of their psyche and what they think about themselves. The two of them are both leaders in a sense (Kali's more into the planning and battle aspect where Red is an emotional and moral center) and despite everyone technically being the same age their physical forms are the oldest, at around seventeen. Everyone is under the impression they get along pretty well but Red harbors a secret that sets him at odds with Kali- he possesses the power to travel back in time after certain events, which lets him prevent the others from being caught or killed. In fact, most of the deaths are usually from the amalgamates killing each other and the very first redo came from Kali attacking him specifically. Kali also harbors her own secret- she maintains all of her memories every time Red resets time (although Red doesn't know this).

This is basically the center of the theoretical book I'm probably never going to write.

As for more detail on them individually:

Kali is a cunning conspirator who tends to act like she's taking things easy (when in reality she is on her guard 24/7 (and doesn't speak often unless it's to deliver some kind of comeback. She trains heavily with the middle-aged "experiments" (I call them amalgamates as well but for certain creative reasons I need to change that) half out of genuine interest and half because she really does want them on her side in case anything goes wrong. She's probably the most in control of herself in her true form, while the others are significantly less lucid, which gives her huge advantages over the others. She refuses to admit weakness or any sort of personal flaw because she feels it might give others some kind of power over her. She does not believe in any true system of universal justice, especially within humans, often steering the others away from staying in towns too long or forming bonds outside of the group. While Red thinks this is paranoid she's also saved the entire group countless times without the use of any time travel just by sheer wit and power of observation.

Details and stuff:

-that's a dog skull.

-her 'wings' are really more akin to slightly manipulated limbs. She's developed very unorthodox ways of using them. She has one set of human hands, one set of bird wings, and one set of canine paws.

-Kali does not believe anyone in the group is human in any sense of the word but doesn't see this as a particularly bad thing. She is not afraid of any other voices or 'echos' from other worlds and has in the past taken up meditation to get a more clear listen. They make her morbidly curious.

Red is a very intuitive and often headstrong leader who nonetheless encourages and listens to ideas from other members in the group. He believes in a strong sense of fairness but more importantly his top priority is keeping everyone around him safe. He does not care about his own life but recognizes and thoroughly believes his survival is important due to his abilities. He does regard himself as kind of a protector but will deny any thoughts of grandeur because they make him incredibly guilty. He spends almost all of his time planning out the future, which he is generally very paranoid of (despite having a magical undo button), and the rest imagining what it would be like if things were normal. He often leaves himself out of his own fantasies. He has in the past used his abilities for slightly morally dubious means, such as telling the others about his powers and then resetting the day, talking to individuals and then resetting to use that information in future conversations, and the like. Kali utterly loathes him for this.

Details:

-ram skulls. Very hard to draw.

-Every finger on that hand is different. I was going to do a bit of hoof too but it got obscured by the fire.

-The flowers around his neck form a noose.

-Red never uses his true form or any animal form (so basically no out-of-species shapeshifting abilities) because he's afraid of straying from any humanity he might have. When he is in his true form he is not in control at all but it is completely unclear who or what is.
