50 Facts You Probably Didn't Know About Dreamland, If You Do Stop Stalking Me.

Look! Fun facts! If you haven't finished the current trilogy, these are only lightly spoilery. If I'm wrong and give away anything, please tell me which ones I need to hide. Most of these are in-universe instead of things about the creation itself because Indy just repaired the fourth wall and fourth wall reparations are really expensive these days.

Timestar: it's getting a little drafty, actually. Someone should go check on that.

Indy: Well, have Ashleap do it!

Ashleap: I have an actual job to attend to sorry

Indy: Gale?
Gale: nah

Indy: *sighs and rolls away towards fourth wall*

Orcafin: Can we start now?
Peckers: Or at least get on with your actual writing. I can't wait to show up in Broken Souls

Ashley: SHHH H PECKERS THAT WAS A SURPRISE
Peckers: bloody hell

okay let's just start

1. Rena/Aislyn has 63 incarnations total. This is the total expanse of time I'll be writing about, if only because it's not really my story after Rena dies. (That's for fanfiction and wild speculation to fill in.)

2. Between incarnations, The Princess (there let's stick with that) changes size, fur color, markings, and occasionally more major character aspects. Her sexuality is also up for debate, though she's never had any children in any timeline or any incarnation.

3. The two most visually similar incarnations of The Princess are Aislyn and Rena, the first and the last respectively.

4. After the first death of The Princess (Aislyn), Natrina took over the throne for a short amount of time. This makes her one of the only three Canii over to be the official ruler of Dreamland.

5. Speaking of rulers, besides the Canis, there are no known monarchies among other Sentient species (unless you count Canira and other species who fall under Canis jurisdiction).

6. While evolution rarely occurs in Dreamland due to the nature of the magical portion of their genetics, several branches of Canis and Canira, commonly due to interbreeding or long periods of isolation, have become their own subspecies officially recognized by the Canis though they usually fall outside of Canis society (though still obey the throne). Some subspecies include a hyena-like canid, the Lupus, and the Moonwalkers.

7. The Teeyus are also honorarily a Canid species, though they're more genetically similar to rodents. Honestly, the Teeyus don't fall much of anywhere.

8. The only other species known to branch out this way (really the only one old enough) are the Felis.

10. Nine is similar to what thirteen is for us here, a ridiculously unlucky number. This is because of the association with the Nyuhenge.

11. The Nyuhenge are the only other subspecies, an elite group of Felis known to have multiple tails ranging between two and nine, multiple irises (rings around their eyes), and shapeshifting and elemental abilities.

12. The first Nyuhenge, known to her kin as Agate, possessed a full nine tails and bought together the solitary Felis, who are notorious for going against Canis culture and often living completely alone. This union sparked a rebellion among non-conformist species and led to a war between these species and the True Dreamlandian Monarchy.

13. Though the relationship between the Eighth Princess and Agate is shifty and often regarded as a subject for blasphemous historical fanfiction, fact remains that the Princess ordered her killed and hung her bloodied tails from the castle wall.

14. Soon after this defeat, many Nyuhenge were captured and slaughtered for crimes against the empire. This is known as one of the largest wars in Dreamlandian history... and mysteriously enough, also the last. It's said that the Princess was so terrified of what she had done that she took her life shortly thereafter, hoping to purge the memories by reincarnation. While she apparently succeeded, never again was such a large purging of life ever executed.

15. According to Nyuhenge mythology, still passed down by some Felis, the nine tails turned into nine children, each of which with one elemental power from their parent. Ever since, the Nyuhenge have been hiding and according to some, regrouping.

16. Some even claim they are hoping to reclaim the throne. Jokingly, they have earned a Illuminati-like role in modern society.

17. Wilder theories include Verde being a Nyuhenge himself. He claims, bitterly, that "They'll know when I'm dead", owing to the short life span of Lapines (20 years).

18. Nina is half Nyuhenge.

19. On a completely different note, Teeyus are not all like Twitch but rather a large blanket term for a group of species with no clear genetic origin whatsoever. Whether they are crossbreeds, small species that evolved due to residual soul magic in the ground, or something completely different has puzzled scientists for years. (Yes there are scientists who study soul magic in Dreamland. They have one hell of a job.)

20. The original term Teeyu originates from an older Felis word that means "I don't know". It was changed to be easier to say as well as out of contempt during the war.

21. Teeyus rarely live over 10 years. This makes them one of the shortest lived Dreamlandian species.

22. Teeyus are fiercely loyal to their territory and will live just about anywhere. Almost all of them within the same area are nearly identical, despite the broad variety in their species.

23. Teeyus are always bipedal, a rarity for Dreamlandian species.

24. Due to their intense loyalty, dragons often take Teeyus in as companions. A gathering of dragons, though rare, will often see the joining of many different Teeyu variations.

25. The powers of the Teeyu are so widely varied that it is impossible to put them all under a single category.

26. In Dreamland, the spirit is split into three parts. One part, the heart, is given to another after death. The soul returns to the earth. The mind goes onto the Dreamlandian afterlife, which while clouded in mystery, is said to exist "everywhere and nowhere". This utterly vague description has impressed basically no one but good luck asking dead Sentient where they are.

27. Within the Chronaverse, wherever spirits go after StarClan is linked with the Dreamlandian afterlife. Either that or three random cats just managed to stumble into the void somehow. Take your pick.

28. Another theory is that the afterlife exists outside of time, where the Terreskians and the First Dragon hailed from.

29. Dreamlandian dragons are agile dimension travellers. While most dragons are loyal to the hubworld, renegades have been observed wrecking timelines or appearing in worlds that are quarantined from magic. This has earned them a reputation in myth.

30. The dragons and Nyuhenge work on the same elemental system when it comes to powers.

31. The dragons use crystals to activate these powers. At any time, one dragon will wield one of the elemental crystals apiece, marking them as the leader of their elemental tribe.

32. There are two Nyuhenge with an element at any one given time. The one with the element must seek out the one who has inherited their power, learning to use it along the way. When they find their successor, they stay with them until their death, and then that Nyuhenge goes in search of the next heir.

33. Dreamlandian dragons, as of The Cities Have Fallen/Double Rainbow are separate from the hubworld. This occurred after a war around The Twentieth Princess's reign.

34. This war was a result of a massive influx of space powers in Dreamland, leading to the first dimension travelers or 'wanderers', who follow a doctrine similar to Aislyn's and try to save dimensions from dying out. This contradicts the 'do not interfere' methods of most hubworld dragons, though the war was... mainly verbal.

35. Negotiations have not been attempted since said fight. The damage across timelines ended with almost all sects of a certain world being sealed off to all travelers and dragons after almost ruining all of their history and ingraining themselves in mythology. Luckily their depictions of both races was very lacking.

36. The Dreamlandian dragons pay homage to a single dragon around the seventh Princess's reign. This dragon, known as Acorvana or the "Queen of A Thousand Hearts", was an oriental dragon who first took a companion.

37. Due to some strange magic, companions and dragons become one in mind when they pass into the afterlife, together for all of eternity.

38. Acorvana's mind, however, reincarnates with all her new companions. She has slowly accumulated thousands of souls over the years. She is the only reincarnation besides Gash and The Princess- as far as we've been able to track, that is.

39. Besides direct reincarnation, when a Sentient dies, a third of their spirit returns as another Sentient. In this way the same characters often show up across history, rarely recognized as kin across time until long after their death.

40. It is notoriously hard to find a heartline, or a heart reincarnation. This did not stop the Ninth Princess from trying to find Agate in order to make amends.

41. Nina and Agate share the same heartline.

42. While the same characters show up in base mythology, it can also be said that something similar to heartlines, known as 'alternate selves', show up across worlds. After all, if all universes sprung from the same point, wouldn't it make sense that at least some things stayed the same?

43. Heartlines have many parallels in other worlds. One of these are the Goldeneyes.

44. The third part of the spirit, the soul, upon returning to the earth, often cycles magic and feeling into the Dreamlandian soil itself. The whole planet is alive, in a sense.

45. Because of this, new Sentient species continue to emerge.

46. There are over 500 recorded Sentient species as of The Cities Have Fallen. While there may be many more, these are mainly the ones who have interacted with the True Dreamlandian Monarchy.

47. Lapines, one of the larger upcoming species, have begun to take a stand in society using their superintelligence.

48. Due to the newness of their species, some Lapines have had non-Sentient rabbit children. After being nursed to a certain age, these children are released back into the wild. Despite their claim to indifference, eating rabbit meat in front of a Lapine will often cause them to go into severe mental stress.

49. Lapines are good at hiding these things. They also hate being called anything like their non-Sentient kin. Call a Lapine a bunny and they will not smack you. Instead, they will slowly plan your demise. The rest of your life will be a strange sequence of terrible events.

Don't piss off Lapines.

50. Lapine society is full of tests, complex warrens, and most of all efficiency.

51. Rena, Gale, and Indy have met many, many times across the timelines and heartlines, as seems to be fate. However, in any given world, they only all meet twice. Once with the Second Princess. Once with the Last Princess.

That is all.

52. Avery is the first of her heartline. She is the only character in any of my books to be such.

As for the rest, that would take way more than 51 facts.
