Spring 2022

It's been a busy year!

I bought a couple of planes (used), fixed up the P-39, finally got the B-25 ready and flying and had to repair almost everyone of them.

The Pitts was one of my main flyers during this time, until I got used to flying the P-39.  She had a rough go for a few flights earlier, but is still in one piece (flyable), but sitting on a shelf.

The Conscendo had yet another crash.  This time there was a brown-out and she quit responding - ended up hugging a tree for a day.  Battery had a dead cell.  After that episode and repairs, I painted the fuselage black.  There's black on the underside of the wings and the horizontal stabilizer as well to help with iding her in the air.  Three flights post repairs, no issues.

The P-39 has been good, I don't think I am getting up to 100MPH (stated speed), but she is going fast.  Had a flap servo pop out in flight, but luckily did not cause the flap to cause trouble.  Landing gear Retracts were also replaced.  Lands pretty hot, but does fairly well.

Turbo Timber - after replacing the BL10 with a Power 25 1250kv and a two blade prop, I found it does go faster, but not much.

Staggerwing - took her up a time or two.  As I am looking to put retracts in her and they are so expensive, I will likely sell this one.

T-28:  used plane I picked up in early May.  It has the Navy Centennial paint scheme and looks great.  Initially started flying with an AR636 (with SAFE), but moved to an AR8020T to get another channel for the air brake (which burnt up on first use).  Had one takeoff crash (ailerons were backwards) right after the 8020 was put in (fixed that) and then flew fine for a couple of weeks.  Noticed the Rudder seemed a bit loose and added a carbon rod to help keep it in place - but it got ripped out on the next flight and the plane did weird loops and crashed into some trees.  Recovered and needs some work.

The B-25 was given to my last summer by my oldest son.  I finally got everything lined up and flew her in May.  Second flight she stalled on a bouncy landing and needed retract repairs.  After that, got three flights.  But on the third flight, as I was bringing her around to land, I put the landing gear down and she stalled.  Still in repair (nose and nacelles)

The U-2 is still coming along, hope to have her back in the air in July.
