FrankenPlane
FrankenPlane is a Sport Cub S2 body, UMX Timber Receiver/controller with Motor, and Cessna prop and mount. We bought it used - but was working for a couple of months when the motor quit. I moved the control board to another Sport Cub in better shape and a working motor.
It doesn't turn well to the left and has a tendency to go into a death spiral even in SAFE Mode. The fuselage was torn up after I tried a standard receiver and motor/prop from a UMX Trojan. Removed that and put in the UMX Timber receiver and motor. After a few crashes, needed a new prop and prop mount. Had a UMX Cessna waiting for a new receiver, so....
Recently received some adjustments, put in the UMX Timber motor mount (started off with a thin piece of plywood which worked well for a couple of months). Also added a bit of plastic support to the lower section of the front fuselage. Though after several additional flights, found it will need more support.
Recently removed the wood prop mount as it came loose and twisted the motors leads. I was able to solder the loose one back into place - but the damage to the front cowling... I think it's time to get a marker and draw stitches across the plane in multiple places.
For power, she uses the 2S batteries. I initially used a 200maH, as it fit snuggly into the Sport Cub's battery notch (secured with a bit of plastic). Later added a Velcro strip just aft of the battery notch with markings for the 200 and the 280 batteries to keep the center of gravity proper.
Replaced the right aileron servo with a new servo the Timber uses for the flaps, which turned out to be a helo servo. It's better, but still doesn't turn great.
