Strong Allies Arc (Part 1)

Hopping down from the lamp, Whis flipped open his scroll, ignoring the captivated gazes of both male and female students alike as he continued his stride through the courtyard...

"Now, where to...?" Whis muttered to himself, his voice barely audible over the intrigued whispers of the students. His eyes, hidden behind a custom-made set of wrap-around shades that mimicked the piece of fabric he wore in his past life.

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "Beacon Academy. This place is huge. It could give Jujutsu Tech a run for its money... or... lien?"]

Flapping its wings overhead, a lone crow cawed as it circled above the large mass of students as they made their way towards the main hall. That same crow would then perch atop one of the tall pillars that adorned the courtyard, its keen eyes fixated on Whis. For a moment, Whis stopped, turning his head in the direction of his avian observer. Time seemed to come to a standstill as Whis locked eyes with the crow. The crow froze under the intense and analytical gaze of the young man, its feathers ruffling slightly in response before it flew away...

Whis smirked before carrying on his way with the other first-years.

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "There are four kingdoms in this world. Atlas, Mistral, Vale, and Vacuo, each one of them with their own Academy, and the most prestigious among them? You guessed it, Beacon. The admittance rate for this place is insanely low, we're talking single digits. Apparently, the rate was a lot higher at one point, that is, until an incident in Vacuo seventeen years ago..."]

Now standing outside the main hall, Whis took a step forward...

~ Snap ~

Before having his attention drawn by the sound of a camera flash...

"Oh? ... Can I help you?" Whis asked

There was an awkward silence as Velvet felt her heart race, trying desperately to come up with a response. The moment seemed to stretch as Whis patiently waited, his unbothered demeanor never wavering. Velvet finally managed to gather her thoughts.

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean– well, I-It's my first day here, and I was just taking pictures, and...

Whis listened attentively as Velvet stumbled through her explanation. Though his shades hid his eyes, it did little to hide his amused grin

"Talk about first day jitters..." Whis interjected with a chuckle, adjusting his shades before continuing, "You shouldn't be so nervous. If you're standing here, then you must be really strong." Whis asked, his grin widening as he observed Velvet's reaction. She blushed at the unexpected compliment.

"Uh, well, I... I try my best," Velvet stammered, still feeling a bit flustered. Her heart would nearly leap out of her chest as she looked up to see Whis' face mere inches from her own, however, now with his shades resting on his forehead. It was then that Velvet was able to get a real good look at the young man's eyes as he was seemingly studying her...

"Oh yeah... you're definitely here for a reason." Whis stated as he stepped closer, his eyes narrowing slightly as if he could discern something hidden beneath the surface. The young woman's heart skipped a beat as one of her ears twitched. Whis leaned back, his confident grin returning as he pulled his shades back down over his eyes, much to the chagrin of the surrounding students.

"Anyway, I guess I'll be seeing you around. Good luck in tomorrow's initiation." Whis said with a casual wave, leaving Velvet standing there with a mix of emotions...

"Did you see that...?" murmured a voice from one of the female students as they whispered into the ear of another.

"What would a guy like that want with some animal like her?" Another student replied, disgust evident in their voice. Despite their hushed tones, Velvet's enhanced hearing could still pick up each, and every whisper around her. She was used to it however, being harshly criticized for merely existing was a part of her everyday life...

"If you're standing here, then you must be really strong."

Thinking back on Whis' words, a small smile graced her lips before she took a deep breath.

"Thank you."

Later

The large group of students gathered in the main hall chattered amongst themselves as they awaited the orientation speech from Ozpin. Many speculated on what would be said, others discussed the possibility of being on the same team as their friends, while some theorized what the initiation test would be...

"Here he comes..." Whis thought to himself as he and the other first-years watched the headmaster step onto the stage.

Any and all discussions came to an immediate halt at Ozpin's presence. There was a deafening silence as the man looked through the sea of faces. Clearing his throat, Ozpin would begin his speech.

"Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed faculty, and most importantly, the bright and courageous souls that stand before me, the newest generation of hunters and huntresses. I'd like to formally welcome you all to Beacon Academy..."

There were a few claps as Ozpin continued

"None of you are here by chance; you are here because you have been chosen. Chosen to bear the responsibility of defending Remnant. Chosen to keep the peace. Chosen to maintain it. Through the coming years, you will be pushed to limits you never thought possible."

Whis took note of how some students seemed relatively emboldened by the man's words.

"I'll try to keep this next part as straightforward as possible. Some of you are here in search of answers. Who are you? What kind of person will you become? For what purpose do you ultimately serve? Allow me to be very blunt..."

The students waited with bated breath, though, what left the headmaster's mouth next was probably not what they were expecting.

"Most of you will probably die before you ever come to realize who you are. The Grimm grow stronger, and much more cunning with each passing day. Some of these Grimm have unique abilities, similar to semblances, that could very well change the tide of battle in an instant. You will be faced with situations where your survival is not guaranteed, and decisions will need to be made swiftly and without hesitation. Before arriving here today, many of you have hugged and kissed loved ones goodbye. Let's hope that isn't the last time you do so..." Ozpin finished as he began walking away from the microphone.

Ozpin's words hung in the air, heavy and foreboding. Whis, though unfazed on the surface, couldn't help but acknowledge the weight of responsibility he and the other students shouldered...

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "The life of a Jujutsu Sorcerer is often times short, guess that same thing applies to hunters and huntresses as well..."]

Looking over to his left, Whis watched as one of the other newcomers was visibly shaking. Each and every last one of them knew what it was they had signed up for, though it did little to quell the fear that was setting in

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "Sometimes I forget that the Grimm are an actual threat. Sure, to me these things are adorable, but to these guys, death must feel inevitable. I wonder what that feeling is like... the feeling of fear."]

"Your Initiation will officially take place tomorrow morning. For now, please, make your way to the ballroom. That is where you'll be sleeping tonight. You are dismissed." Glynda announced before following behind Ozpin. As the crowd thinned, Whis found himself standing alone in the main hall...

Whis sighed in frustration as he rubbed the back of his neck

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "Well that's annoying... there's that familiar feeling of isolation again. I came here on a whim, right? To 'go north' and 'Become someone new' or, whatever the hell that means. I still don't know as much as I'd like, like who that woman was, or what she wanted with me in particular. Hell, I don't even know if joining this place was the right move or not but..."]

"I'm gonna reset this crappy Jujutsu world. It'd be easy to kill everyone who's in charge. But someone else would just take their place. Nothing would change. And it's not as if people approve of massacres anyway... So that's why I'm turning to education. I need strong and intelligent allies. I need to foster them."

Whis smiled.

"That was the goal... wasn't it?" He muttered to himself, remembering his own words, and the purpose he had set for himself back then. "Oh well, I guess it's back to square one. I'm gonna need some strong allies..." Whis stated before making his way out of the main hall...

The Next Morning...

~ Yaaaaaaaawn ~

Gojo yawned, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as Ozpin and Glynda addressed all the students present.

"As is tradition here at Beacon, you all shall be paired up into teams of four during today's initiation. How it works is very simple. The first person you make eye contact with will be your teammate for the foreseeable future..." Glynda explained.

Velvet, who was among the many students present, raised her hand. Ozpin, noticing this, acknowledged her with a nod.

"Miss Scarlatina... is there a problem?" He asked.

She could feel the eyes of the other students on her, and for a moment, struggled to find her words. However, she'd quickly gather the courage needed and speak her mind...

"You said that we'd be put into teams of four, right? But there are thirty-three of us standing here, which means...one of us will be without a team of our own." Velvet pointed out, her voice noticeably nervous. Unbeknownst to her, Whis was listening in from his position, only a few feet away...

Ozpin smiled

"That's a very astute observation young lady, and I'm quite glad you asked. You're indeed correct. Normally, there'd be thirty-two students present for any initiation held here. However, this year is a bit of an exception. One of you will indeed be without a team to call your own, at least, for the start of the year. Whichever one of you that is, will be up to fate."

Nodding, Velvet stepped back, sparing a glance over at Whis in the distance...

"Maybe I'll be paired up with him...?" Velvet thought as she pulled a strand of her back behind her ear

The initiation process was pretty straight forward. It involved traveling into the Emerald Forest, a large, dense, and dangerous forest filled with Cursed Grimm. Their goal? Retrieve a relic within the abandoned temple located on the northern end of the forest...

"Ah yes, and just so we're clear. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path, otherwise, you will die." Ozpin warned before taking a sip from his mug

"Looks like it's showtime..." Whis uttered with a grin

The initiation began with students being sent soaring into the sky, propelled towards the dense expanse of the Emerald Forest. Crossing his arms, Whis looked down as he began formulating his approach...

"Whichever one of you that is, will be up to fate."

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "Yeah right, as if I'm gonna let something as arbitrary as 'fate' dictate who I'm paired with. I'll make my own choices..."]

In a display that defied the laws of physics, Whis froze in mid-air, almost as if he were...

"...Walking on the air itself. Simply amazing." Ozpin stated as he spotted the Schnee standing above the forest.

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "The first person we make eye contact with" that's what our esteemed professor said, yeah? If that's the case, then..."]

"I'll complete this entire initiation without making eye contact with a single person, but not before annihilating fifty Cursed Grimm." Whis stated to himself with utmost confidence before disappearing from sight

"Where did he—

"Right here sir." Glynda stated as she pulled up the footage of Whis who had teleported himself onto the forest floor...

Leaves and dirt swirled in a circular motion as Whis appeared into the forest, his arrival marked by a gust of wind. With his usual carefree demeanor, Whis solo trek through the dense vegetation with both hands placed firmly in his pockets...

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "Since the moment I could formulate coherent sentences, most of my time was spent trying to learn as much as I could about this world, from its history to its culture, everything..."]

~ HISSSSSSSSSSS ~

A sinister hiss echoed through the trees, four pairs of eyes landing on the Schnee as he continued walking...

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "The most interesting thing being Aura. I initially wrote it off as being nothing more than 'spiritual armor' for lack of a better term."]

With blinding speed, a Cursed king Taijitu lunged towards Whis, intent on sinking its fangs into the young man's flesh. However, it suddenly came to a halt before it could reach him. The Schnee then stopped in his tracks before slowly looking over to massive beasts to his right. The twin snakes hissed in pain an indescribable force was exerted onto them, twisting their bodies together as if they were nothing more than a wet towel.

~ HISSSSS—

Its defiant hiss was cut short as it was effortlessly reduced to nothing, only a waft of black smoke remained as it disappeared. Whis continued his leisurely stroll through the forest, unperturbed by the Grimm who dared challenge him...

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "But I was wrong, it's so much more than that. Aura is akin to Cursed Energy, in that, they're both channeled spiritually. However, while cursed energy derives from negative emotions, Aura, by definition, is a manifestation of the soul. From what I've gathered so far, cursed energy is the 'Yin' to Aura's 'Yang.' They're two sides of the same coin."]

~ Crack ~

The cracking of fallen tree branches caught Whis' attention as one by one, multiple Cursed Beowolves emerged from the forest, ten in total. The creatures snarled and growled, their red eyes fixated on Whis as they prepared to attack

"Creatures of Grimm. Born out of pure hatred for Humans and Faunus alike... hehe... it's a good thing you all don't have souls. If you came back as cursed spirits, no doubt you'd all be special grades." Whis stated with a chuckle.

In all her years of being a huntress, Glynda Goodwitch had never witnessed such raw power. Her grip on the small monitor began to tighten as she watched Whis effortlessly dispatch Cursed Grimm that could take the lives of even the experienced hunters. Ozpin stood silent, standing near the edge of the cliff as flashes of red and blue could be seen in the distance. In an act that caught the woman off guard, Ozpin began laughing a hearty and amused laugh. Glynda shot him a puzzled look, but before she could inquire...

"My apologies, Glynda. I couldn't help myself. It's not every day that we bear witness to such... raw talent." Ozpin said, still chuckling.

Glynda raised an eyebrow, her expression a mixture of surprise and skepticism. "You find this amusing, sir?"

Ozpin nodded.

"Indeed. You see, I was thinking back on General Ironwood's concerns regarding what it is we're to do if young Whis were to become an enemy. I believe, 'we all die' was my response. It was a chilling statement, but make no mistake, my intention was not to cause alarm or panic. No, my statement was mere fact. A simple observation of reality. One look at the boy's face and you can tell...

Glynda looked down at the monitor just in time to see Whis blast a hole through the stomach of a Cursed Beowolf with a sphere of red energy, all the while wearing a smile.

"That he's not even giving this test his all." Ozpin explained before taking a sip from his mug. "This 'Observation' surely didn't sit well with James. No doubt he's been hard at work these last nine years, trying to come up with some sort of 'Countermeasure,' should Whis go against Remnant's best interests." He finished.

She was hard pressed to argue. The power that Whis displayed was otherworldly, and the nonchalant demeanor in which he wielded it was downright unsettling. In the face of absolute power, what hope did they stand against walking calamities like the one on her monitor? It was for these reasons that Ozpin had formed his inner circle. If power like this were to be acquired by the likes of her, then...

Feeling helpless, Glynda's shoulders fell

"Don't look so discouraged, Ms. Goodwitch. If I thought that Whis posed a threat, then I wouldn't have extended him an invitation to Beacon in the first place." Ozpin explained before turning his attention back to the forest. "Despite his otherwise arrogant and carefree attitude, I can sense a boy who feels a great sense of loneliness within him. It's as though he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, yet he hides it."

Ozpin smiled somberly...

"I can relate to that feeling greatly, young man."

Elsewhere

"Huff... Huff... Huff..."

Velvet Scarlatina, and her newfound teammate, Coco Adel, stood their ground with ragged breaths as they braced them themselves for another assault. Standing Opposite them, was a massive cursed death stalker. This one living a long life up until now, if its intelligence was anything to go by. Despite its massive size, it was quite nimble, managing to dodge several attacks aimed at the parts of its body not protected by bone-like armor...

"It's trying to wear us down... or at least, that's what it's trying to do to me." Coco thought to herself before peering over at Velvet, who seemed to be breathing heavily out of sheer nerves rather than fatigue. "Velvet seems to have a crap ton of Aura, but with the way her semblance works, she can't keep it up for long. This death stalker must be able to sense that too..."

Coco smiled. Dying wasn't something she'd added to today's schedule, but if that's where things were headed, then she'd do it in style

"VELVET!" Coco shouted

"Y-Yes?!" Velvet shouted back in response

"Gianduja has barely put so much as a scratch on this thing, even with my semblance backing it. Those pictures you take aren't just for show were they? You can analyze and replicate other people's fighting styles, right?" Coco asked with a smirk.

Velvet nodded.

"I-I mean... yeah, but, I can only do it to an extent..." She explained.

[Narrator: "Velvet Scarlatina's Semblance, 'Photographic Memory' allows her to mimic the exact same fighting styles of those she photographs. However, she is unable to copy fighting styles that tie directly to the subject's Semblance."]

"I just need a clean shot to its bottom. Think you can manage that?" Coco asked.

Velvet froze as she felt her heart pounding. To be counted on like this was overwhelming to say the least. She was used to counting on others for strength, not the other way around...

"Yes!" Velvet shouted.

There was little time to wallow in self-doubt. Finally making its move, the death stalker thrusted its large stinger backwards, striking the ground and kicking up large chunks of dirt and rocks. Initially confused by the creatures' actions, Coco's eye would widen as she collapsed "Gianduja" into its bag form before shouting

"MOVE!"

Using its unnatural speed, the death stalker struck the flying debris with its tail. The impact sent the debris hurtling towards the two aspiring huntresses at great speeds. While Velvet was just about able to dodge incoming projectiles, Coco was not so lucky...

"AGGH—

A chunk of the debris struck Coco in her midsection, finally cracking the last bit of aura she had left.

"Shit." She cursed under her breath as she skidded along the ground before crashing into a tree. The moments she stepped foot into the Emerald Forest, she'd given it all she had, being faced with multiple cursed Grimm along the way had finally taken its toll. "Damn, my aura was already low before I met up with Vel and then we bump into this thing? Talk about shitty luck. Now look at me, no aura, means no semblance..."

Coco groaned as she tried to push herself up, only to be met with searing pain from the left side of her abdomen. The death stalker, sensing the weakened prey, advanced towards the downed huntress.

"COCO!" Velvet shouted in horror as she tried desperately to rush to her friend's aide.

"T-This is really it isn't it? Toma, Mate, Van...

Coco gritted her teeth.

"Like hell!" She screamed.

Refusing to die so easily, Coco stood to her feet once again while simultaneously switching "Gianduja" into its minigun form. The barrel of the weapon began gradually spinning as the death stalker rushed her...

"EAT LEAD YOU OVERSIZED SON OF A BI—

~ KRAKOOOOOOOOOOM ~

[Narrator: "It happened, in an instant..."]

Both Coco and Velvet's eyes widened in utter shock as a flash of white appeared from out of thin air, with it came a crackle of red and black lightning, followed shortly by a large cloud of dirt as it enveloped the area...

"I wasn't exactly aiming for a black flash, but oh well..." A voice claimed with a calm voice, and an air of indifference

[Narrator: "As the dust settled, the aftermath of the sudden intervention was revealed. The death stalker lay almost completely splattered against the forest floor, the top of it's skull having been caved in by its attacker."]

"That officially makes fifty-one."

Standing atop the slowly dissipating corpse of the Cursed Grimm, was none other than Whis Schnee. Coco stood dumbfounded as she tried to process the sudden turn of events. Velvet on the other hand, stared in absolute awe. One of her ears then twitched as just then, Whis moved in a manner that would suggest he was going to disappear again...

"Now I guess all there is left to do is snatch up that relic, and—

"WAIT!"

Her intuition proved correct, as in that moment, the 'fun part' of the initiation had just ended as far as Whis was concerned. He was just about to teleport away when he heard the familiar voice of the rabbit Faunus girl he'd spoken to yesterday. Placing both hands in his pockets, Whis decided there was no harm in hearing her out, after all, the most he was expecting was a quick 'Thank you,' he could spare a couple seconds...

"What's up?"

What was it she wanted to say? Velvet wondered to herself. A simple 'Thank you' wouldn't cut it, he'd just say 'Your welcome' and then disappear, wouldn't he? And then what he said yesterday, about her being here for a reason, because she was strong?

"What did you mean by that?" Velvet asked.

Whis raised a brow, almost tempted to face the girl... almost.

"Oh? What did I mean by what?" Whis replied.

Velvet took a deep breath before speaking.

"Yesterday, you said that if I was standing here, then I must be really strong. What did you mean by that?" Velvet clarified, determined to get an answer.

Whis sighed.

"That part should be obvious. I'm guessing you faced a lot of Cursed Grimm before you came face to face with this one here. That's not something a lot of experienced hunters or huntresses can say they've done without a scratch. In fact, I'm willing to bet some of the other participants died the moment they stepped foot into this place. You do have one glaring weakness though... and it's that self-doubt of yours." Whis explained.

Velvet's ears dropped slightly at Whis' blunt but straightforward response.

"Yeah, see, that right there. You have strength, skill, and a crap ton of potential, but you lack confidence. You hesitate, second-guess yourself. It's like you're holding back. Your name is Velvet, right? Don't be afraid to fully embrace who you are." Whis finished.

Velvet blinked; it was like he could see right through her.

"Thank—

He was gone, leaving Velvet to stare at where he stood only seconds prior.

"Thank you... again, Whis."

Appearing in front of the abandoned temple with a small smile

"Yeah... don't mention it."

Whis glanced around, looking at the various "Relics" that each sat upon their own pedestal. As it turns out, these "Relics" were just...

"Shogi Pieces, seriously?" Whis asked, slightly confused.

There were multiple pieces, one for each participant. However, what Whis took note of was their color. Some were black, others were white, but there was one that stood out...

"Hmm?"

A lone golden shogi piece sat atop one of the pedestals. With a casual wave of his hand, the piece would find itself floating in front of the Schnee as he examined it, the kanji for "King" written on it. Whis smiled before pocketing the piece and looking back in the direction he and the other students were launched from...

"You've got a really good sense of humor about you, old man."

Later

Leaning against the wall with his arms folded, Whis Schnee listened as Ozpin introduced the teams consisting of Beacon's newest first years...

"And lastly, but certainly not least, Coco Adel, Fox Alistair, Velvet Scarlatina, and Yatsuhashi Daichi. Together, you four collected the white rook pieces, and shall henceforth be known as, Team CFVY." Ozpin announced.

The crowd erupted into cheers. The giant, Yatsuhashi, offered a bow, while Coco gave a confident salute, and Fox nodded with a smile. Velvet on the other hand, peered into the crowd of the other Beacon students, her eyes briefly meeting Whis'. The Schnee offered her a small nod and a reassuring smile.

Hours passed as each team was presented to their own dorm rooms. Walking down the hall, Whis came to a stop as he turned his right...

"So team CFVY is right across from me, huh?" Whis muttered to himself

For a moment, he considered knocking on their door and introducing himself a bit more formally, but then immediately shrugged it off. Socializing could wait, there were more pressing matters to attend to first. Pressing his scroll up against his door, it opened with a soft whoosh, revealing Whis' new living space for the next four years. The room was relatively simple, with a desk, four bed, and—

"Four beds... hm."

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "Guess this is where I'm gonna be situated for a while. It's not bad either. Definitely top five most expensive rooms I've ever slept in, and that's counting both lives..."]

Taking off his shades and setting them on the nightstand, Whis would then fall back onto one of the four beds, staring blankly at the ceiling above.

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "Welp, we're here. So, what now Gojo Satoru— or 'Whis Schnee,' or, whatever the hell our name is now? Ozpin said coming here might help me solve a few of my questions..."]

Reaching down into his pocket, Whis retrieved the Shoji piece from the initiation, holding it up in front of his face...

"Maybe he could start by answering this one." Whis stated before teleporting out of his dorm room

Seconds later

Setting down his pen, Ozpin smiled as he looked up to see Whis Schnee standing only a couple of feet away from his desk...

"Whis? I thought you'd be asleep after your little display during today's initiation. How can I help you?" Whis glanced at the shogi piece in his hand before looking back at Ozpin with a somewhat serious expression

"I just figured the whole bit with 'The King' was your way of saying you'd finally come to a decision..." Whis stated as he flicked the shogi piece onto Ozpin's desk

Looking down at the shogi piece. Ozpin's eyes narrowed slightly as he picked it up. "I thought it was funny, even a bit fitting. However, decisions are rarely as straightforward as someone like you would think." Ozpin replied

Unfortunately, that wasn't the answer Whis was looking for

"You realize who it is we're talking about, right? This should be the one straightforward decision you make without a second thought." Whis stated, his blue eyes piercing through the darkness of Ozpin's office as he awaited the man's reply...

Ozpin leaned back in his chair, his gaze focused on Whis. "What you're asking, I'm afraid, cannot be done. The 'tension,' between myself and Taiyang after what transpired in Vacuo all those years ago, is... not something that can be easily resolved. You can only imagine his reaction, when I appeared on his doorstep, asking that he allow his now nine-year-old son to attend Beacon academy. I can assure you Whis, that the words that left Tai's mouth weren't, 'pleasant,' to say the least." He explained.

Whis huffed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. In that moment, he cursed his own ego, thinking that the words of some Schnee child delivering a foreboding message would somehow tip things in his favor...

"So it seems I was right. You wanted the child to attend Beacon Academy in hopes of keeping an eye on his development." Ozpin stated

Whis locked eyes with the man as he continued

"I based the initiation on that very assumption. If anyone amongst the aspiring first-years were to become a one man team, or even want to for that matter, it'd be you. I wasn't able to sway Tai's mind, and neither will you. However, I took the liberty of looking into other alternatives that you might find interesting." Ozpin explained before setting a folder upon his desk

Raising a brow, Whis stepped forward until he was standing right before Ozpin's desk, picking up the folder...

https://youtu.be/1JG-PTBK5bc

Whis' eyes widened as he froze

"...?!!!"

Ozpin took note of Whis' reaction before leaning forward with both hands interlocked in front of him...

"Not much is known about the young man. Though, from what my most trusted source has managed to gather, he's quite high up within the Menagerie Guard. He also seems to have very close ties with the Belladonna family. But if that were all there was to this person, we wouldn't be having this conversation. A few months ago, a Cursed Sea Feilong threatened to destroy the port of Menagerie. Before it could so much as make it to shore, the creature dropped dead, well, in varying pieces that is..."

Whis remained silent as he flipped to the next page

"Incident regarding the attempted Grimm attack on Menagerie port. An abnormally large Sea Feilong was slain before it could make contact with the island by a lone guard. Reports state that this guard... had no Aura, or known semblance." Whis stated breathlessly as he scanned the report.

There was a moment of silence as Whis tried to wrap his mind around what it was he had just read, who he had just seen. Placing the folder back down on Ozpin's desk, Whis smirked...

"Yeah... I'd say that's one hell of a find Ozpin." Whis stated.

Ozpin smirked.

"Ah, I thought you'd find that interesting. I know I certainly did. Now, I believe you're in the market for a potential new teammate. If you wish to try and sway Taiyang's mind, you should first try your hand at convincing him to join you here at Beacon Academy..." Ozpin explained.

Regaining his nerves, Whis would then ask...

"What's this guy's name anyhow?"

Sliding the folder back into the drawer of his desk, Ozpin replied

"How very considerate of you to ask Whis. His name is Shirokuro Kumo. Though, the residents of Menagerie tend to call him, Shiro."

[Whis "Gojo" Schnee: (Narrating) "Things have definitely just gotten a lot more interesting..."]
