Ch8: Mission 2: Mt Glenn p2

The Teams manage to land in the LZ and ready to head out. They made their way into an abandoned village, likely because of the White Fang who either gunned them down or make them run. Either way, they entered it. It's quite to say the least, a little too quite for a village. All they can see were corpses, chard remains of what used to be the Humans and Faunus that once lived in this peaceful village - till the White Fang came and send them to heaven. Most of the group can't stand the sight of the bodies, but not the Operators as this is normal to them.

Walking away, they spotted a few more villages - they all got the same treatment, no survivors or abandoned. Ruby asked, "Why? Why did the White Fang came here for", no one responded, they just moved on. At first it was Grimms, but soon it is clear that the White Fang has ravage the place - the only ones left are the adults; who were slashed, hacked, shot, mauled and burnt to a crisp.

They soon stumbled upon an old building, it was patrolled by 2 Members sent to deal with anyone following them. The rest hide, but some people never learned. Yang charged forth, punching the first to the wall and kicked the other one off the roof. Echo, Bravo, Delta and Oobleck apprehend the one that is knocked into the wall; Alpha calming Yang down; and the rest attempting to catched the other one. Delta manage to shoot a tracker at the fugitive, assuring everyone that they will soon find the camp.

Nightfalls, as the rest set up shop inside the abandoned building. Alpha, Echo, and Bravo set up an interrogation room that is soundproof. The rest sit in a large area, to where they will rest for a while. Delta keep watch as the others Chat about their current situation:

Charlie: Yang, you shouldn't have done that.

Yang: I know [rubs arm], Owen calms me down after that outburst.

Weiss: You dolt, we could have known where they're at so we can end this mission and go home!

Foxtrot: Weiss, chill out. You need to rest, unless you want someone to hurt that pretty little face of yours.

Ruby: You guys didn't answer my question earlier.

*Silence*

Ruby: Did I say something wrong?

Foxtrot: No Ruby, it's just that... Ugh. Blake, why don't you tell her?

Blake: Okay, so I was a White Fang Member. I praised Sienna Khan, believing that we should be notice as a force for good. That's when I met Adam, he was a kind man. When I saw his face, I was in shocked! Apparently, he was one of the few that escape the clutches of the SDC.

Foxtrot: Blake, get to the point, please.

Blake: Right. The reason why is that..... The White Fang is losing soldiers day and night - both By Grimm, the Operators and huntsmen.

Charlie: And by logic, they needed soldiers. The adults looked like they had a child or 2. All that they took: the supplies, the tools and the children - specifically Faunus.

Ruby: Why?

Foxtrot: Because they're children. Kids who knows no right or wrong without a guardian to guide them. It is easier and therefore much more battle harden. That same goes to their minds - Weaker than an adult, susceptible to influence and ideas. Soon they'll be sent and killed as it's always been.

Weiss: I didn't know that.

Delta: I do.

[Everyone look at Delta]

Delta: Father's last name isn't actually Schnee; It was mother's. Our grandpa, Nicholas Schnee, was dying and Jacques took the opportunity and with   Gramps on his death bed, it makes things a whole lot easier. He convince the dying Schnee to hand over the company to him. Alas, he won in the end and he soon to be the Tyrannical Business man you all see today.

Weiss: Why? Why did Father keep this away from us?

Delta: He wanted no attention on himself. He needed an heir, so only he can be remembered. That's why you and Winter were chosen, with you being the soul heir. Whitley would be next, if you wouldn't agree. Tell me Weiss, What did Father asked of you, when you entered Beacon?

Weiss: He asked me "Why? Why did you want deviate from the Schnee family and become a Huntress?".

Delta: Then, what is your answer?

Weiss: I told him, I wanted to protect the family from the Grimm that may hurt us.

Delta: I'm going to assume he put you on a trail before you entered Beacon - and that you were successful.

Weiss: Yeah. Wait, How did you know all of this?

Delta: Look no further than Older sister. Also, Jacques will most definitely test you to your limit in unfavorable situation because he wanted to win. But he didn't anticipate to your will to keep going.

Weiss: You taught me that, Allie.

Delta: That's how I became an Operator in the first place. With will, you can conquer your fears and trauma with your resolve to push forward for the win, like Jacques.

Weiss: Why did you mention Father by his name?

Delta: 1, Habit and 2, he doesn't deserve to be a father to me. Let's hope Mom is okay.

Weiss: Well, she isn't alright, if I would put it.

Alpha and the rest came back with a bit of blood on their hands. Alpha said, "Alright people, first thing tomorrow; we prep up, ready ourselves and leave. We got the info of what we needed". Ruby asked him, "What happened to the fugitive", He answered, "If you see a Faunus running around buck naked with some blood, it is probably currently being mauled by Grimm at this point or at the very least hiding in plain sight". Ruby didn't get it at first, the rest knew what he was talking. The rest soon sleep, with a few to wake up for watching them.

Few hours later

Ruby is seen sleeping in her dreams, thinking all the possibilities with her brothers back in her life. When she woke up, he wasn't there. She then looked at her other brother, who sleeps on a crouching position leaning against the wall - Definitely not recommend. She then saw a ladder and is curious enough to go up.

Ruby's POV

I went up the ladder and saw Owen with binoculars looking over a direction. I walked up to him and tapped his shoulder. He jumps, turns around with a gun on his hand and saw me. He was shocked if I were to put it. He offered me to sit and it is quiet.

The night sky, the grimms, the blue rays bouncing off our stuff, it is really calm. Owen constantly checks the binoculars and wrote some stuff on his notepad. It was too quiet so we began to chat:

Me: So Owen, whatcha doing?

Owen: Just checking a village up ahead.

Me: What's about?

Owen: That village on the foot of Mount Glenn, resides an ancient Grimm so destructive no one has ever went there and those who did, never came back alive. I'm simply monitoring it's movements for studies of course.

Me: Okay. What do yo think about the school and it's entirety?

Owen: Well, all I can tell most came here for a purpose, some didn't make it, some do. You know, Nora used to live in that village.

Me: Wait, what?! How did you know?

Owen: I met her during an operation here, one that, after a few days, triggered the Grimm's awakening. By that time, we were gone in a coma.

Me: You could have saved them.

Owen: Ruby... in War, you can't save everyone. But it doesn't mean they can't be saved. When your leader there's bound to be some people who will be out for the glory - only to get shot first.

Me: Ouch.

Owen: we've got plenty of Operations like this, but since now you 2 are with us, our destination would be a lot more cautious because your our family.

Me: You really do care about us.

Owen: Yeah, try not to get that too much on your head Ruby, there are some people that wants to take you away from the ones you cared.

Me: Like Yang? Mom and Dad?! Uncle Qrow?!

Owen: And your friends. In war, there is nor such thing as friends; only allies that you put all your trust into. They fought along side you, with each battle pushing further to survive the next war.

Me: Oh. You know, if you were to tell us sooner, we wouldn't have this mess if you leaving and such.

Owen: Sorry Rubes, the real reason why we left because we can't stand your "thing" any longer. Besides at least now the Operators are more active than before - endangering any insurgencies that dare to ruin the peace.

Me: Really? I thought it have to do with Aunt Raven.

Owen: We made that reason up, so in case if Raven was wondering.

Me: Can you show me the specs for your rifle?

Owen: Really now? I mean you 4 probably have the most impractical weapons. At least Yang is strong enough to counter the recoil produced by the shots fired.

Me: Impractical? You mean they're useless?

Owen: Not in the sense that you would think. These types of scythes are more for stabbing than slicing. However, you did build it to the point where recoil is non-existent.

Me: I mean, yeah I do felt a little recoil.

Owen: it looks like you added a lot of pressure pads and a soft spring.

Me: So about those spects.

Owen: a later time Ruby, when we all come home save and sound.

Me: Aww.

Owen: *chuckles* But, you can go around the armory during the weekends when we are heading back to our base.

Me: Really?!

Owen: [nods]

Me: Yay! [Hugs Owen] Thank you!

After I hugged I Owen, I come down to ready myself. "It's going to be a long day tomorrow", I thought to myself as I'm readied my combat gear. I check Crescent Rose and to my surprise someone left me a note and with a few mags, but it has markings on its side. I took the note and it reads, "You'll need these AP rounds, Red. - Ronald". I smile at the statement, just as Roland's about to wake up. I'm starting to think this day will grow a wide smile out of us.
