7. Dean Winchester
The book's cover was beautiful. Two men. One lying in a bed, unconscious and the other standing beside him...as if his protector. The background made it look like a galaxy.
We Can Only Dream was it's title. And it's author?
Dean Winchester
// Castiel's POV
He stared blankly at the book for what seemed for hours, too many thoughts racing through his head. Cotton was meowing loudly, pawing at his leg.
This was it.
How...why hadn't he looked here before? He hadn't even touched any of his books since he got back.
Castiel got up and ran to his laptop. He typed in the name into the search engine and waited as it loaded.

Castiel stared at the photos in the information. This was Dean. Dean Smith.
"He lied..." Cas whispered to no one. His eyes flickered back up to the top of his bio.
Fiancé: Castiel Novak
Castiel clicked images and watched as he thousands of photos filled the screen.
So many of Dean. In different suits, at different conventions with Sam. Some were of him holding awards and certificates, but there were a few that caught his eye.
There were tons of photos of him and Dean being...a couple. So many photos. He went back to the search bar and typed in "Dean Winchester and Castiel Novak." letting the new information take over the screen.
Dozens of photos of them came up. Some just someone snapping an off guard photo of them. Some pictures with fans, some at different conventions. Many of them in hugs or sharing kisses...even fuzzy but clear enough photos of Dean on one knee in front of Castiel.
But nothing was happening...he wasn't remembering anything! Shouldn't he have little sparks of memory?! There was nothing!
Castiel groaned loudly and searched his own name.
Immediately articles came up. Articles of an accident.
Car Accident Leaves Drunk Driver Hospitalized
April 15, 2015. After a night out for his bachelor party, Castiel Novak, engaged to author Dean Winchester, has a deadly car accident atop a bridge.
The men with him that night state that they remember Novak leaving the party because he claimed that his fiancé forgot their groceries, again. Before any of them could protest, Castiel Novak was headed towards the edge of death.
Dean Winchester was informed the next day, when they managed to identify Castiel who had been left in a coma that lasted two weeks. When the young author's fiancé finally awoke, doctors diagnosed Castiel with amnesia.
Dean Winchester was not present when his fiancé awoke. Instead, he pleaded that the doctors not say anything to Castiel about him, stating that he 'could fix his mistakes'.
((Terrible article...sorry))
Castiel stared at the article, not wanting to read anything else. He quickly exited all the tabs related to the topic and shut off his computer. He was left staring at his reflection in the dark screen.
Why would Dean not want him to know what happened? To not remember who he was? They were engaged for god's sake!
It all made sense. How could he have not seen it before? Was the that stupid? His doctor told him that Dean would be allergic to cats and that Cotton always followed him! Cotton always led him to Dean! How was he so stupid?!
Castiel screamed, his voice raspy as his eyes brimmed with tears. He wasn't even sure what he was going to cry about. Dean was doing everything to steer him off that track!
He stood up and slammed his fist against the wall next to him. Cotton jumped and ran into the bedroom, hiding under Cas' bed.
The poor cat wouldn't have knocked down the bookcase on purpose if he knew this was how Cas would react. But he was tired of seeing his two pets apart.
Castiel slid against the wall and grabbed the book from the desk, flipping it open.
We Can Only Dream
He flipped the page.
Dedicated to my brother and my new friend
Castiel shut the book and set it aside, staring at the wall across from him. He stood up and examined the book shelf again. He grabbed a book titled, Trench Coat Angel.
He opened the book to see the dedication page.
Dedicated to my best friend
Cas tossed the book aside and found three more books written by Dean, instead this time with a Chuck Shurley.
Dedicated to all my readers
- Chuck Shurley
For my boyfriend
- Dean Winchester
Castiel felt little buds of tears forming in his eyes again. He grabbed the next book and opened it.
For my beer dispenser. You are amazing
- Chuck Shurley
For my loving boyfriend. Love you!
- Dean Winchester
And the last book.
For my new bunny slippers
- Chuck Shurley
For my loving fiancé
- Dean Winchester
Castiel sighed and placed the book on the ground. Why would Dean even do this?
Why didn't he just tell him the truth?
Castiel had found his way into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of wine when someone knocked on the door. He cursed under his breath and walked over to the door.
He quickly swung it open and found Dean walking away rapidly, a new book on the doorstep.
"Dean."
He stopped walking and just stood there. He cursed once but didn't move.
"Dean. Winchester." Cas said loudly. Dean slowly turned around and smiled nervously, chucking and looking at anything but Cas.
Castiel walked back inside, placed the wine bottle on the coffee table, ran back outside and proceeded to punch Dean, pushing him far to the side.
Dean grabbed his cheek and looked back at him. "Hi, Cas."
Castiel yelled and grabbed him again, staring straight ((staring gay)) into his eyes.
"Why? Why would you lie to me?" He questioned.
"Do you remember?" Dean asked, his eyes hopeful.
Cas scoffed and looked down, shaking his head. "Not a thing."
"Then how-- ?"
"I apparently have your books. I don't know why I didn't do it before but I looked you up. You're a pretty famous author, huh?"
Dean lifted his hands up in defense and moved away from Cas.
"I can explain. Please just-- "
"No! You could have told me! We were engaged for fucks sake!"
"Cas please! The doctors told me to talk it easy on you! That you shouldn't know too much right away!" Dean started. ((So you wrote a fanfiction))
Castiel stepped away from him and walked back to his door, stopping in front of the new book. He picked it up from the ground and turned to face Dean.
"Are these even my actual memories?" He yelled.
"Yes! It was my way of helping you remember!" Dean said, walking up to him.
"I don't need this." He threw the book into the street. "Go away..."
Dean was crying now.
"Cas...Cas please..."
Castiel walked back inside and began closing the door. "Leave me alone, Dean...I need time to think." And the door shut.
Castiel slid down the door and brought his knees up to his chest, letting his tears spill from his eyes.
Dean stood outside, his face wet and shiny with tears. He walked into the road and picked up the book, now covered in dirt, and walked away. He knew this was a bad idea. But he had to get him back. He was going to get him back.
