1.2 ϟ Family Reunion
Have you ever been so angry at a situation that you just want to scream? So angry that as soon as you walk into the situation you're already in a sour mood?
Well that was exactly how Remilda felt as they walked up to number 12 Grimmauld Place. With each and every step she took towards the front door the more she wanted to turn and yell at her father for throwing them into this situation before they even had time to be sad about their mother. She wanted to yell at Raelyn for telling her to try and let herself enjoy things, to actually be okay with it all...
But she knew that wouldn't be a good idea. Deep down, she knew that her father was angry with himself for doing this to the family. She also knew that distracting herself was the only way Raelyn could keep her head up and moving forward.
Maybe it won't be that bad, Remilda thought to herself as her father reached for the knocker on the door and hit the door with it three times. During the few extremely short seconds that followed the knock and before the door opened, Remilda could tell her palms were beginning to get clammy.
As the door opened, a man a few inches taller than their dad stood in the doorway. His hair was a shaggy light brown color, and he had some scruffy hair on his chin. But the most noticeable features were his friendly eyes and the scar that he sported that started at his hairline and went about halfway across his face.
"Jacob," the man smiled brightly as he quickly hugged their father. Remilda glanced over at Raelyn only to see a beaming smile on her face, enjoying the reunion. "it's so good to finally see you again!" he smiled.
"It feels like it's been centuries, Remus!" their father genuinely smiled as the two of the let go of each other. It was a smile that he always had when he told them stories about Hogwarts or about how he met their mother. It was a smile that had been gone for a few weeks now. "Remus, I'd like you to officially meet Raelyn and Remilda," he smiled as he put a hand on Raelyn's shoulder and then Remilda's. "The second set of Irish Twins in the family that James had told you about."
Remus smiled at them, "Hopefully you two aren't as much trouble as your father and uncle were..."
"Well, that could be up for debate." Raelyn smirked as she held out a hand eagerly to shake his.
Remus and their father both laughed as Remus shook her hand, and then reached for Remilda's. "Well, come in, come in! Molly and Sirius are both waiting in the sitting room," he said stepping aside.
"Is there a lot of no-maj...uh, muggles I mean, around here?" their father asked as the two girls stepped in.
As they stepped in, their father fell a step behind as Remus shook his head. So then their father swiftly pulled his wand from his back pocket and gave it a flick, and the two waiting trunks gracefully rose up into the air and glided into the house.
"I can't wait to turn seventeen..." Raelyn muttered from beside Remilda as they stood in the narrow hallway.
"You can just leave those there for now," Remus told them and then waved his hand over his shoulder and began to make his way down the hall and to a smaller room where there were two sofa's, a coffee table, and a few smaller tables with lamps on them as well as the ceiling lights.
In the room, there were two people. One was a woman a bit shorter than Remilda was. She had red hair that was cut at her shoulders. Her nose was sprinkled with freckles, and she was seated on one of the couches. On another, was a man who was pretty skinny, his eyes looked like they were still returning to normal from being sunken in. And his had was dark brown and was shaggy. Remilda studied him for a quick beat, and quickly realized that he was Sirius Black, the prisoner from Azkaban who had escaped nearly two years earlier.
"It's about time," Sirius smiled as he stood up and hugged their father, "I thought you had decided not to come after all."
"Believe me, Black, I considered it," their father chuckled, "you're looking well, Sirius."
"You should have seen me last year," he scoffed in reply as they took a step back from each other.
"It's wonderful to see you again, Jacob!" the woman beamed at him as she hurried to take a turn hugging him, "Absolutely wonderful..."
"When was the last time you all saw each other?" Raelyn asked from beside Remilda.
They were all silent for a moment.
"The last time I saw Remus and Molly was probably at my brothers funeral..." he sighed heavily and from beside Raelyn, Remilda could see her entire body tense up. "Sirius, oi, when was it? The August before?"
"Probably about that," Sirius replied, "but we've all been in touch since." he said to lighten the mood a tad for Raelyn's sake. "You two must be the Irish Twins," he smiled, "I haven't seen you two since Harry's first birthday."
"That's right!" their father smiled, "Remember the look on Lily's face when you gave all three of them a practicing wand?"
"Allison was a bit more terrifying about that situation if I remember correctly..." he chuckled.
"You got three one year olds practicing wands?" Molly asked.
Sirius shrugged, "They had to start learning how to not break things sooner or later, right?" he asked motioning to the two girls.
Raelyn nodded and smiled, and the corners of Remilda's lips tugged upward into a smile as well.
The group of six then migrated down to the kitchen where there was a long table with enough chairs for a army. They each took a seat, Molly insisted on getting them each a drink. Sirius, Remus, and Molly all opted for a tea. So did Remilda before she knew that coffee was going to be a option. So Raelyn and and their father ended up being the only two with coffee.
Anyway, after everyone was settled at the table the reminiscing began between the three adults. There was laughing, and mindless chitchat for what seemed like hours even though it may have been only one. Raelyn was completely intrigued by it, laughing along at the funny bits and throwing in the occasional 'really?' or 'then what?' into the conversation. Remilda didn't just sit there miserable, at least she didn't make it obvious. She at least giggled at a few bits. But the whole time, she couldn't help but think of one question...
How could none of them bring up what happened to mom?
It was a fair question.
"We're back!"
A boys voice echoed through the house and was just barely loud enough in the kitchen for it to be heard. Molly Weasley then quickly stood up and waved for Raelyn and Remilda to quickly follow, so they did. And then their father followed and Remus and Sirius stayed put for a moment to not make everyone's first meeting even more crowded.
"You guys!" a girls voice exclaimed, "For love of Merlin, just because you can bloody apparate doesn't mean you have to!"
"You're right, we don't have to..."
Someone laughed, "but we want to. Don't worry, Gin, someday you'll learn too..."
As the sentence ended, they got to the sitting room where everyone was setting down school supplies they had just gotten. A girl with long red hair was shaking her head as she began to separate her stuff. Then there were two boys, probably about the same hieght as Remus, with short red hair both still chuckling. Then still walking down the hall from the door was a man with thin red hair, and three kids about Remilda's age. One girl with frizzy brown hair, yet another boy with red hair, and one Remilda recognized immediately from the newspaper about the Triwizard Tournament, and the stories about him. Her cousin who she'd never been able to meet in the flesh; Harry Potter.
"Both of you," Molly hissed at the two older boys, "your sister is right-"
"Sorry mum," they said in unison, but not genuinely. It was more of a tone that someone used to just get someone off of their back.
Molly sighed heavily, "Everyone-"
"Well if it isn't Jacob Potter!" the ginger haired man laughed as he hurried forward to greet Jacob, "I thought you weren't coming until next week!"
"Arthur I told you they were coming today." Molly said sternly.
"Did you?" he sighed, "Must have slipped my mind."
"Everyone," Molly sighed heavily, "This is Jacob Potter," she said motioning to their father. Remilda glanced around and then towards Harry, who looked just as stand offish as Remilda felt. "and his daughters, Raelyn and Remilda." she smiled.
Remilda sighed as she placed a hand on Raelyn's shoulder as she said Remilda, "Uh, I'm Remilda actually..." she said softly.
Molly quickly snapped her hands back, "Oh, right! I'm sorry, dear,"
"She does that to us too," one of the ginger twins stated.
The other nodded, "and we're her own flesh and blood."
Molly ignored them, "Raelyn and Remilda," she repeated as she placed a hand on the correct shoulders and shot Remilda a friendly smile. "This is Fred and George," she began as she motioned to each of the older twins, "that's Ginny," she said and the girl smiled and waved at them. "then right here is Hermione Granger, Ronald, and..." she stopped slowly.
It was then that everyone seemed to notice the look on Harry's face said he wasn't sure what to think.
"Harry." Molly said quickly, "All three of them will be in the same year as you two."
