Chapter Fifteen

Kakashi. I guess I should have seen it coming. I gave Miku a look and she poofed away before Kakashi could see her.

"I thought an Anbu was supposed to be testing me?" I questioned, adjusting my bow, which was slung across my shoulder. The now trapped my wings, so if I wanted to fly I would have to take it off and hold it in my hand.

"Hey!" Kakashi looked affronted. "Do you think I'm not good enough to test you?" I shook my head frantically. "Besides, I was an Anbu once, you know,"

I nod slowly. "Okay, so what's the test?" I ask cautiously.

He smiled evilly beneath his mask. "Spar me." He stated. My jaw dropped.

"Uh, without my teammates, without backup, all by myself?" I stated in a rush.

"It seems you still remember the last time you fought me," Kakashi chuckled slightly.

"Vividly," I grumbled, shuddering slightly.

"And hers the catch; this time, I'm going to use my sharingan," he told me, grabbing into his headband. "Your objective is to beat me, or last an hour against me."

I nod again. "Any weapons, Jutsus?" I ask.

"You'll need them all to beat me," he said, beginning to pull out his book. I sigh. The least he could do is pay attention to me! "Begin." He muttered monotonously. I immediately shrugged of my bow and pulled an arrow from my quiver. In one fluid motion, I pulled the strong back and shot Kakashi's book.

"Tch," I muttered in annoyance. I had been aiming for the boy on the front cover, but had hit the upper right corner of the book. I still needed lots of practice. Kakashi slowly lowered the book, staring at the arrow shot into it. With a sigh he broke off the arrow and removed it, sliding the book into his weapons pouch. A serious expression took over his face and he raised his headband, revealing his sharingan eye.

"Ready?" I tease him. He narrows his eyes seriously at me, and I feel my own expression grow serious as well. He wasn't joking around anymore. He was serious. I pulled back the string of my bow, waiting for him to move.

"That won't work against me," He told me. I smirked and let the arrow fly. Just as it passes by his face, it blows up. Logs scatter across the training grounds and I tense before whirling around and blocking Kakashi's fist with my bow. He hits the bow out of my hand and we exchange a rapid series of blows before jumping apart.

We're both panting slightly. Kakashi narrows his eyes while I avoid looking into his Sharingan. "How are you able to keep up?" He asks, bewildered. I smirk and tap my temple, not giving him a direct answer. But he picks up on the meaning behind my actions.

Damn... she can read my mind and predict my movement. Even now she must be reading it! She knows I just thought that! She knows I'm thinking this!

He notices my amused expression and sweatdrops. Hi, Keira. He thinks. Then we run at eachother again. Left, right, left left left, low kick, punch to stomach, high kick jump away. I react perfectly, but then he lands a hit on my right cheek instead of going for the high kick! I put a hand to my cheek. How? I knew, I knew he would go for the high kick. So how did he punh my cheek instead?

We continued fighting, him landing several hits on me. Water Dragon. I immidiately began making the hand signs for a wind jutsu, pulling my fans out to cut the water in half. But instead of a giant water dragon appearing, Kakashi dissapears.

What? I spin around, trying to locate him when I feel a hand grasp my ankle. I quickly make the signs for a substitution as I'm pulled beneath the ground.

I lean against the tree, panting, holding my bow I had retrieved close to me. Spinning away from my hiding place, I shoot three arrows in quick succession at him before sprinting to a new hiding place. This goes on until I reach back and there are no more arrows for me to grab.

I jump out into the clearing. Kakashi stands in the middle of the clearing, studying me. "Seems as though you've run out of arrows," He mocked lightly. "What a waste of effort. yu couldn't even hit me. You aren't as good as you seem,"

"Every single one of those arrows went exactly where I wanted them to go," I smirked. I quickly did several hand signs, as Kakashi processes it with his Sharingan. "Torikago-chu!" I exclaimed. Kakashi spins around as the circle of arrows around him light up in blue chakra. They all connect, creating a net, a bird cage around him.

"And for my next trick," I pull the string of the bow back to the corner of my mouth, touching my nose to the string in the exat same way I did every time. It was my anchor spot.

"Impossible. You don't have an arrow!" Kakashi shouted.

"Don't I, though?" I let the string go, And Kakashi stiffens as the chakra arrow I sent towards him pierces his heart. I had only sent a low amount of chakra towards him, so it wouldn't kill him. The surge of chakra would most likely simply knock him out.

If it had been Kakashi I had hit. INstead, with a poof of smoke, Kakashi dissapeared. Shadow clone. I let the bird cage dissapear, turning around slowly as I sense Kakashi. He runs at me, and we fight hand to hand. But he is unable to land a hit.

"How?" He grunted as I land a hit on him.

"No matter how much you control your thoughts, there's a plit second of instinct, impulse, thought that tells me where you're going. You can't control that. It took me a while to find it, but find it I did. I have your weakness, Kakashi."

He goes to punch me and I block, though I'm thrown back several yards. He begins to create several handsigns, and I create my own. I think it's time I show him what I've learned. "Summoning Jutsu: Gin no Tori!"

Immidiately I'm surrounded by a swirling storm of silver. Miku sat perched on my shoulder, chirping excitedly. "How are you doing? Are you winning? What do you need us to do?"

I glance around at the silver cloud surrounding me, and I shortly order, "Swarm." Half of the swarm leaves me, surrounding Kakashi in flashes of silver. There are sparks of electricity, and the birds retreat from Kakashi.

Kakashi is panting, hair messed up, eye squeezed shut, torn clothes and cuts all over. His chidori is slowly dying in his hand. He throws sevearl kunai at me, all which were deflected by the birds. He reactivates his chidori, sprinting towards me.

"Disperse!" I shout, and the birds fly away quickly so they wouldn't conduct the electricity. I take out my fans and run to meet Kakashi. I hold both my fans up and his hand pierces through them. I snap them shut on his wrist, and we both strained against the other. That's when I made my mistake.

I looked into Kakashi's eye.

***

I was in the dark.

I spun around. Where am I?! Where am I?!

Footsteps echoed around me. Were they following me? Were they chasing me? Or were the footsteps running away from me?

"My favorite... experiment."

I scream in terror, running blindly away from the voice. But the voice was all around me. There was no escape. There was no escape.

Suddenly I'm face to face with... him. Orochimaru. I scream again, and turn to run away, but he's there too. I try to escape, but no matter where I go he's there, he's always there. There are chains around me now. Orochimaru is holding the end.

Everyone is passing me by. There goes Sakura, without so much as a glance. Sasuke, who kicks me as he goes by. Naruto, who runs right past me as he chases after Sasuke. Kakashi, watching the other three but not sparing a glance for me. Tsunade, sending me a look of disgust as she spits, "Rogue." Even Konohamuru, precious little Konohamuru won't help me.

Then I see him.

"Gaara!" I shout, "Gaara, please!" But he can't hear me. He can never hear me. But maybe he's just not listening. Maybe he doesn't care anymore. "GAARA!"

***

A jolt of chakra wakes me from the wasteland. "GAARA!" I screech. I'm panting and trembling in Kakashi's arms.

"I'm so sorry, Keira. That fight got out of hand. I began to view you as a true opponent, not just someone I was assesing. I'm so sorry." Kakashi murmured.

I sob in his arms. "He was there." I repeated over and over as Kakashi just sat there with me sideways in his lap. I buried my face in his shoulder, crying my eyes out. I didn't care how embarrased I'd be afterwards. I needed this comfort.

"Um... the, uh, Kazekage was?" Kakashi asked awkwardly. "He was in the genjutsu?"

"No--well, yes--but no. He was." I mumbled as a fresh wave of tears streamed from my eyes. "I couldn't escape. H-He was everywhere," I clutched my head as I began to panic slightly. "He was everywhere, everywhere, everywhere!" I cry hysterically.

"Shh, shh," Kakashi seemed at a loss for what to do. This wasn't really his area of expertise, after all. "You're safe now, shh. You did amazing in this sparring match. When you summoned those birds I didn't know what to do," He laughed slightly

I wiped my face. "You found they're major weakness, though," I mumbled, "Lightning. Silver is a good conductor of electricity."

"Silver birds," He breathed. "When the surrounded you and I could barely see your outline through them, all I could think was, 'It's as though she was surrounded by a silver cloud.'"

"They are beautiful," I agree drowsily. "You put up a huge fight. I'm exhausted and my chakra is pretty much drained," I fought my heavy eyelids. I'll just close them for a few minutes...

"I'm sorry for placing the genjutsu on you, Keira. The best thing now would be to sleep it off." Kakashi told me. I felt the tendrils of unconciosness slowly pull me under. My ears caught one last musing sentence from Kakashi.

"Keira of the Silver Cloud..."
