Chapter 8: Love is a War

"Hmm? Ana? What? Coming? Here?" Gary choked. At this time, Gary had been staying with (Name) for about a month.

May and Drew had indeed gotten back together, they had indeed bought a house together, and they had indeed adopted Kaila. And indeed, Kaila was their child. (Name) and Gary hadn't heard a word from them since they bought a house in Hearthrome so May could continue teaching. Drew was called to judge at the Hearthrome Contest Hall and another judge took his place back in Kanto.

Now, one peaceful Saturday evening, Gary had received a call from his blonde fiancee.

"Yes, Gary, I want to see my Gare-Bear again!" Ana squealed from the other end of the line. "Plus, I finally get to meet who you're staying with and make sure that she's treating you right!"

"She's treating me just fine," Gary replied with a hint of annoyance in his tone. "And why can't you just get a hotel room? I'm sure it'll be inconvenient for her." Ana picked up on that, and Gary could practically imagine her pout when she said,

"Aren't you happy that you get see me soon?"

"Of course I am but-" Gary faltered and Ana took that opportunity to cut in.

"Alright, Gare! See you in a week!"

"And don't call me Gare. That's an annoying nickname," Gary complained. But Ana was already gone. And Gary was having the most serious sense of deja vu.

"The Pokemon ready to go on stage, Gare?"

"Yeah. And don't call me Gare. That's an annoying nickname." The voices of the two people swirled around in his head, and Gary felt as if he was losing his mind. The second voice was definitely his, so who was the first person?

Gary shook the thought out of his head as he exited his guest room and went downstairs to tell (Name) about Ana.

"Umm... (Name)?" he called to the (h/c)-haired beauty, who was focusing intensely on something in her sketch book. She jumped.

"Ah- oh Gary, hi, what is it?" she exclaimed, flustered.

"Uhm... I have something to say..." he sighed. "I know this is probably very inconvenient, but my fiancee is coming over in a week and she needs a place to stay and-" Gary nervously met (Name)'s eyes. "Can she stay here?"

"I..." (Name)'s eyes were wide in shock. "...Alright." She didn't know what made her say that, she just did, the word tumbled from her mouth before she could think, and she wished that she could take it back. But it was too late.

Great. She's coming here now. Just to torture me.

"Alright! Thanks (Name)!" Gary flashed her a smile.

Well, things can't get any worse than this I suppose.

"Oh yeah, I've been meaning to ask you, would you like to attend our wedding?"

Nevermind.

??? P.O.V.

Someone's following me... I know it. And I'm determined to find out who. It's a Dark-type. I'm sure of it. The only way to find out how is to change into my human form and investigate. Then everything will be less suspicious.

I duck behind a building and quickly transform into my human form. My long blue hair blew in the wind as I let out a sigh of relief.

I walked out from behind the building and slowly began walking up the street, making sure I would miss nothing suspicious. Suddenly, I collided into a tall, muscular figure.

"Sorry," we mumbled at the same time. But as I looked up to meet his eyes, I gasped.

Paul.

"Troublesome. Where in the hell have you been?" he growled.

"I... uh..." Suddenly the darkness engulfed him and Pokemon appeared. I almost screamed.

Darkrai.

What in the hell is he doing here?

Wait, Paul can't be-

"Dawn." His voice spoke. His voice spoke and I knew.

I knew.

"Paul..." I muttered. "You're a Pokemon. Darkrai."

"I'm a monster, Dawn." Paul sighed. "Look, I'm sorry, but I really have to get going. I'm trying to look for Cresselia-"

"You've found her."

"Huh?"

"Paul... I'm... Cresselia..." I let my Pokemon form take over me and in seconds, I was staring at my opposite, who, this whole time, had been the man I loved.

Two opposites. In love.

"We have to stop this," Paul told me. "I'm just so tired of Yveltal and all this stupid crap. I'm so tired of this war. All because of one girl."

"We do. I'm on your side. I will be, always." I turned back to my human form as he did the same. Our lips met for the first time in weeks.

It's been too long...

"YVELTAL!" Giratina screeched as she cornered him.

"You're weak," Yveltal taunted although a hint of fear in his eyes was detected by Giratina.

"Ha! You're weak! You're scared." Giratina growled. "I can't believe you did this! Even after you almost destroyed Kalos all those years ago, we forgave you! And yet you go on doing your evil deeds!"

"Some things never change, Giratina," Yveltal said with a shrug. "And nothing's going to change the fact that I'm going to rule the world."

"NOT ON MY WATCH!"

"Ash..." Misty gulped. "I-" More vomit tumbled from her mouth into the toilet.

Misty has not been doing well lately.

She got continuous pains in her muscles, headaches, the occasional hallucinations. Worst of all, Misty had no idea what was causing them. And that was all worrying Ash as he tried to comfort his beloved Misty.

"Shh... it's gonna be okay, Mist," Ash half-choked out as he rubbed Misty's back.

"I... don't even know what's happening anymore..." Misty sobbed between her violent jerks.

"Mist, I'm here for you, don't worry," Ash soothed.

"I... I think..." The vomiting finally stopped and Misty collapsed on the bathroom floor.

"You think what?" Ash questioned nervously.

"I... I think I'm possessed by a Pokemon."

"Huh?!"

"She's right, you know." Misty's skin turned ocean blue and Ash turned white.

"Who are you?!"

"Don't worry. I'll take care of your girlfriend. I promise."

"And Kaila is how old?" Norman questioned. Norman, Caroline, and Max had come out to Sinnoh to visit May and Drew in Hearthrome. And they were surprised to find that they had a kid.

"...Four..." May muttered.

"So you presumably got pregnant around age eighteen?"

"...Yes..." May sighed. Norman glared at Drew.

"And how exactly did you get my daughter pregnant?!" he demanded.

"...Party? ...Drunk?" Drew squeaked in terror.

"May." Norman fixed his glare on his brunette daughter.

"Yes dad?" she asked meekly.

"I don't approve."

"Now now, Norman, you need to be more reasonable-" Caroline began.

"No, sweetie. I don't like him. Don't approve. Pack your bags, May. We're going back to Petalburg."

"You can't do this, Dad!" May exclaimed, tears in her eyes.

"Oh, yes," Norman replied, glaring at a shocked May and Drew. "I can."

"Shaymin, do you need to take over soon?" I asked.

"Yes, I do. Be prepared for me to take over any time, okay?" Shaymin's voice spoke in my head.

"Alright." I sighed. "Do you think everything that we're doing is gonna pay off in the end?"

"We can only hope," Shaymin replied. "We can only hope, my dear friend."

"You don't think anyone would recognize me once we exit Gracidea Meadow, won't they?" I questioned.

"No. Most likely not. It's been too long." I breathed a sigh of relief. Good.

The last thing me and Shaymin needed were people being suspicious of us. After all these years, I would be surprised if people recognized me. I had never become famous, I was just your average breeder and trainer so people wouldn't recognize my face.

The only people who even have a chance of doing so is those people I knew in the past, who I was close to. But what were the chances of me running into them anyways?

Third Person P.O.V.

"GARY!" The next morning, (Name) and Gary awoke to the sound of a shrill voice screaming from outside.

"Holy mother of Arceus!" (Name) cursed. "Who in the hell would come knocking on my door so early in the morning?!" (Name) walked into the hallway to see Gary looking equally shocked.

"She said she was coming next week!" he fumed quietly.

"HUH?!"

"My fiancee's here. (Name), I am so sorry-"

"No, it's okay!" (Name) didn't even believe herself. She knew she sounded irritated and upset and she hated herself for sounding that way. But she honestly didn't know how exactly to react.

The two went to the front door and (Name) sighed and turned the doorknob. Blonde hair flying, Ana launched herself onto Gary, almost taking (Name) down with them.

"GARE-BEAR!" she exclaimed. She showered his face with kisses as (Name) stood there awkwardly, trying her best not to strangle Ana.

"Ahem," the (e/c)-eyed girl coughed pointedly. Ana immediately let go of Gary and gave a fake smile to (Name).

"Oh, hi there, what's your name?" she asked, batting her eyes innocently.

"I'm (Name). (Name) (Last Name)," (Name) replied rather stiffly.

"Oh, it's so nice to meet you!" Ana exclaimed, although (Name) knew Ana was glaring at her mentally.

"Likewise," (Name) forced herself to say with a fake smile herself.

"So, Gare-bear, where am I staying-"

"Ana, you said you were coming next week. You lied," Gary retorted pointedly.

"But I just wanted to see you sooner-"

"But (Name) here may not have the room for you to stay right now; she hasn't had time to make the room," Gary interrupted.

"But surely this nice lady would let me stay with you for just a night? We're going back to Pallet tomorrow!" Ana begged.

"HUH?! SAYS WHO?!" Gary shouted.

"I have all the wedding plans ready, Gare, so I supposed you could come home really early so we could get married as soon as possible!"

"I've still some work. A lot of work," Gary grumbled.

"Aww, but that's okay! That can just wait until after we get married!" Gary stared at his fiancee incredulously before sighing.

"If it's alright with (Name)."

"Oh, of course it's alright!" (Name) said with a fake laugh. "Why don't you show her where she's staying, Gary? Since I'm already up early-" (Name) glared at Ana. "-I guess I'll start attending to some work I need to do then."

Gary sighed and began to walk up the stairs, and Ana followed but not after whispering to (Name), "I didn't forget about you, you little bitch. I guess you didn't tell Gary about you guys in the past, and I'd like to thank you for that. But remember that this is a fight, and the prize is Gary. Love is a war, and it looks like you're losing." As (Name) watched Ana flounce up the stairs with dull eyes, she had to admit she was right.

I'm losing and I have no chance of winning.

~~~
A lot of romance went on here, and some tragedies as well :/ How will Drew earn Norman's approval? How will Dawn and Paul work together? Can Ash trust the Pokemon possessing Misty? And can (Name) somehow get Gary to remember her before he goes back to Pallet Town with Ana... to get married? I don't know... ;)
