The audience was chatting. The cool breeze was blowing as birds chirped overhead. The sun was shining brightly but it was nor too hot, nor too cold.
It was perfect. But all this was for Ana, as she was slowly wearing down Gary's patience so he was a little more hesitant to get married to her.
Nevertheless, it was going to happen.
(Name) sat in one of the many white chairs, May and Drew on one side of her, Ash and Misty on the other. The group of five was sullen and silent. Dawn and Paul had been invited but they were nowhere to be seen.
"I'm so worried..." Misty whispered as her skin turned blue. May, Drew, and (Name) jumped but Ash stayed calm.
"Manaphy wants to say something," he said simply. "Trust it."
"What? Manaphy?" Drew questioned.
"Misty's being possessed by a Pokemon named Manaphy..." Ash sighed as horrified gasps were heard. "But don't worry, it won't hurt anyone."
"(Name)." (Name) jumped as a voice that was not Misty's spoke from the redhead's mouth.
"How did you know my name?" she demanded.
"No matter. But all I can say is, everything will be alright. Don't worry..."
Suddenly the chatter stopped as music began to play. But (Name) couldn't focus on anything around her. Only one song rang through her head as Gary came down the aisle.
I went to your wedding
Although I was dreading
The thought of losing you
The organ was playing
My poor heart kept saying
"My dreams, my dreams are through"
Now he will never remember. Ever. (Name) remembered the song playing in her head as the song her father used warble out again and again, making (Name)'s mother, Leaf, and herself laugh. (Name) smiled a bittersweet smile at the memory. Why am I smiling? I'm about to lose him again... for good, this time.
You came down the aisle, wearing a smile
A vision of loveliness
I uttered a sigh, and then whispered goodbye
Goodbye to my happiness
As Gary passed by his best friends and their girlfriends, he gave them a nod. Then, he spotted (Name) and his eyes lit up. His lips curved into a huge, genuine smile and (Name) couldn't help but smile shyly in return. But as Gary moved on up to the front to stand next to the priest, (Name) realized that this was the last time she would see Gary happy- ever. And if she couldn't know he was happy, she wouldn't ever be again, either.
Your grandfather was crying
Your sister was crying
And I was crying too
The teardrops were falling
Because we were losin' you
Professor Oak had tears in his eyes. His grandson was getting married to the wrong girl. And there was nothing he could do. I'm sorry (Name)... and I'm sorry to you too, Gary. I failed you. I said I would always tell you the truth. But the promise (Name) made me make... I couldn't bring myself to break it.
Daisy kept shaking her head, sobbing quietly. She buried her face in the chest of her husband, Bill, who rubbed her head, trying to comfort her. Arceus... this isn't the one he loves... I wasn't close to (Name) but I know for a fact that she was the one for him... Ana made Gary change, we lost who he was before, and now we're losing him to a complete bitch.
Long before Ana appeared, (Name) was already crying. But when she did, the tears flowed down faster. This is the woman he is swearing his love to... the one that tricked him into loving her... this hurts... a lot... Ana smirked slightly in (Name)'s direction and there was nothing the (h/c)-haired girl could do but keep her head down.
The couple stood together by the altar and the ceremony began. Ana was to say her vows first.
Her vows were nothing but lies.
Filthy, filthy lies.
She told about how they were "childhood lovers" and how she had always loved him and he did too. A couple of growls were heard from the audience and Drew had to hold May back from marching right up to the bride and strangling her.
(Name), however, made no moves of violence. She just sat there with tears glistening her cheeks as her black-haired childhood friend quietly tried to comfort her. Then it was Gary's turn.
What he said was so sweet that (Name) almost cried. Such sincere emotions were expressed in his words and the look on his face. But it was all to the wrong girl.
"Do you, Ana Bailey, take Gary Oak as your lawfully wedded husband?" Ana looked directly at (Name) and smirked.
"I do."
"Do you, Gary Oak, take Ana Bailey as your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I-"
CRASH! A growl was heard as Gary's words were interrupted. Two giant figure appeared in the sky. Many screams sounded as people ran.
"IT'S DARKRAI! AND CRESSELIA! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" The guests scrambled around in circles of panic. Gary's face wore an expression of surprise and Ana's held horror.
"GET OUT OF HERE YOU STUPID BEASTS!" she shrieked unwisely. "YOU'RE RUINING MY WEDDING!"
"DOES IT LOOK LIKE WE GIVE A FUCK?!" Darkrai roared. The two changed into their human forms as many gasps were heard.
"DAWN?! PAUL?!" May, Drew, Ash, Misty, and (Name) rushed towards them.
"Not now! We don't have much time!"
"For what-" (Name)'s eyes widened as the bluenette crashed her lips into her boyfriend's. "Wh-what in the hell is going on?" Meanwhile, Gary was trying to make his way over, however, Ana and the screaming crowd was making it hard.
"I love you," Dawn whispered quietly.
"I love you too... Troublesome." Suddenly three more figures appeared in the sky. More screams were heard and Ana's angry shrieks pierced in the air.
"WHY ARE YOU THREE HERE? I DIDN'T CALL ANY OF YOU!" Many eyes widened, although Dawn and Paul looked indifferent.
"We're done with you," Mesprit sighed. "Thanks to Darkrai and Mesprit, we've finally been able to break free of the promise you binded us to."
"NO WAY!"
"What do they mean, babe?" Gary questioned, confused.
"It's time." Uxie exchanged glances with Azelf and Mesprit. "Time to undo the spell."
"What?! NO! I COMMAND YOU TO STOP!" Tears were streaming down Ana's face.
"On three. One... two..." Suddenly, Misty's form transformed into Manaphy. Manaphy rushed towards (Name) and grabbed her arm.
"What are you doing?!" she exclaimed, surprised. Manaphy gritted its teeth. Now or never. Shaymin will come back and guide him. I know she will not fail us.
The curse was reversed and there stood a horrified Gary, watching as (Name) disappeared into thin air through Manaphy's Teleport.
"FUCK!" Drew cursed openly. "WHERE DID SHE GO?!"
"Don't worry." A voice sounded. Gary and Ash's eyes widened as a girl appeared out of nowhere.
"But... you're... you're dead!" Gary spluttered in disbelief. "You disappeared! We all thought the worst!" Jamie gave a wry smile.
"Amazing that you and Ashy still remember me," she said with a chuckle. Her eyes then flashed in determination. "That is not the point. Gary, we have to get you to (Name)."
"(Name)?!" Gary's eyes narrowed. "Right. I need to give her a piece of my mind."
"Gary! Don't think like that!" Jamie exclaimed, a worried look suddenly coming across her face.
"She's been lying to me this whole time. Doesn't she know how much this all hurts me?!"
"Wait!" Ana caught hold of Gary's hand. "Why are you leaving? We were about to get married and-" Gary slapped her hand away.
"We are NOT getting married and we never will," he spat in distaste. Flower petals filled the air as Aromatherapy was used. The guests were calmed and teleported away by Shaymin, safely wiping their memory, thanks to Uxie. Now only Ash, Misty, Gary, May, Drew, Dawn, Paul, and Ana remained.
"I... I don't understand!" Ana hissed at the Lake Guardians. "You were not allowed to break your promise!"
"You made the world unbalanced, fool," Azelf growled. "When Darkrai and Cresselia balanced it again, we were free. Not to mention, Yveltal is out of the Distortion World so nothing is going to happen."
"Distortion World? The legendary dimension ruled by Giratina?! What in the-" Gary was stopped by Ana, who pushed her lips to his, trying, desperately, to make him love her. Gary pushed her away quickly.
"There's no need to know everything. Just know that everything is normal again," Dawn sighed. "And now," she continued, looking at Gary. "It's time for you to get to (Name). I'm begging you, don't do anything to her that will hurt her even more than she is now..." Then she glared at Ana. "We all decided to have pity on you. We won't wipe your memory or anything, so you can still live in pain. You deserve worse, know that."
"Dawn, what is this-" Drew's words were silenced as Jamie glared at him. Soon, she, Gary, and Ana disappeared.
"Where in the hell did they go-"
"Gary and Jamie went where (Name) is," Paul said simply. "And Ana went home."
"She doesn't deserve to live!" May exclaimed. "I may not know the entire story behind this but she must've done something horrible." Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit exchanged looks with Dawn and Paul.
"It's best that some things remain a secret," Dawn said. "And, now, time to get you guys home too."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Misty exclaimed. "All this happened and then you guys are just like, 'Oh, time to go home now?!'"
"Everything's fine now," Mesprit replied. "Our work here is done. Which means that one last thing we'll do is take all of you home."
~~~
The doorbell rang. (Name) slowly stood up. She was still trying to process everything that happened. Manaphy had disappeared seconds after she realized she was at home.
She headed towards the door and the last people she expected the be standing on her doorstep greeted her.
"Gary?! And... JAMIE?!"
"in the flesh," the brunette agreed. "I'm not dead, as you can see."
"But..."
'That's not what we're here for, (Name)," Jamie said firmly. "Go on, Gary. I'll leave you guys alone." Gary strode in like he owned the place, the door slamming shut behind him.
He glared harshly at (Name), who flinched slightly. "Why," he said menacingly. "Did you never tell me anything?"
"H-huh?"
"That's right," he snarled. "I remember! Everything!"
"I-"
"Don't even try to make excuses! Don't you know you were hurting me too?!"
"Gary, I'm sorry, but some things, I'm not supposed to tell-"
"Why did you leave in the first place?!" he shouted. "You could've stayed! You could've made me remember you! Why didn't you stay with me, (Name)? Why?"
"I have my reasons..." (Name) defended weakly.
"So," Gary murmured. "You've managed to make my life a living hell. And since you won't even try to tell me why you left, I'll make sure your life is the same. Watch me."
