Chapter 10: Your Happiness

Third Person P.O.V.

"Arceus, Gary, hurry up!" Ana snapped at her fiance, who eyed her warily.

"We're in no rush, baby," he mumbled, sighing. Ana frowned.

"Gare-bear, what's wrong?" Ana questioned worriedly.

"...Nothing. So, when's the wedding going to be?"

"Oh! In two days!" Gary's eyes nearly bugged out of his head.

"W-what? Damn, I don't know babe, that's really early-"

"Don't worry, Gare-Bear, like I said before, I've gotten everything already planned out!" Gary let out a sigh of relief.

"Okay then." Gary leaned down to capture his fiancee's lips. "I'm sure our wedding will be wonderful then."

~~~
"MAYBELLE MAPLE! WE ARE LEAVING! STOP TRYING TO STALL-"
DING DONG! Norman's shouts were interrupted by the doorbell. May's face lit up as she hurried to the door. (Name)'s here!
"Maybelle!" Norman called. "Where are you going?!"
"Just a second, Dad!" The brunette called back as she opened the front door to reveal the said (h/c)-haired girl.
"May!" (Name)'s face was flushed red and wet with tears but she only showed concern for May. "What happened-"
"The real question is, what happened to you?!" May exclaimed. "Did-"
"Gary left..." May's eyes widened.
"H-huh? But why?! I thought he was staying in Sinnoh for at least a few months more-"
"His fiancee came and they're going home to get married." May noticed the pain in her friend's voice.
"Wow... you and Gary must've grown tight over the last month, huh?"
"No..."
"No?"
"We've known each other for a lot longer than that." (Name) took a deep breath to calm her nerves. May seemed to forget about her own dilemma and focused only on (Name).
"Here, why don't you come in and explain everything to me-"
"May," (Name) giggled quietly. "I'm here to help YOU, y'know. That's the whole reason why I came here." May felt like slapping herself.
"Oh yeah... I mean, if you want to talk about it first we can-"
"No. I'm helping you first." (Name)'s jaw locked as she stared at her brunette friend in determination. "Alright, what's the plan?"
"It's simple..."
~~~

"Who... whose name did you call me, Giratina?" Calem, or Yveltal, growled. Serena, or Giratina's, eyes were wide.

"You... you were my childhood neighbor!" The honey-blonde exclaimed.

"H-huh?"

"You moved away after second grade, don't you remember?!" Calem stared blankly up at the girl.

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"WAIT A SECOND!" Serena screeched. "Yveltal! When Calem moved away that was about the time when you tried to destroy Kalos!"

"Your point is?"

"Before you turned evil, you were a pure soul, Calem! But when you tried to destroy the world... you turned into Cyrus! An evil being with no mercy! Don't you see, I had mercy on you and forgave you! And that purified your soul because..." Serena grinned. "Because you were grateful!"

"WHAT?!" Calem was getting flustered. "What are you even-"

"You were grateful that I spared your life! And you punished yourself by thinking that you deserved much worse! And now that you've been shown mercy... you went back to your original human form and- mmmph!" Serena's eyes widened as a pair of cool and slightly chapped lips covered her own.

"You talk too much..." His husky whisper sent a shiver down her spine.

~~~
"Arceus dammit Dawn," Paul muttered to his lover. "What in the hell do we do now? The Lake Guardians are never gonna listen to us."
"Don't swear so much, Paul," Dawn replied, sighing. "And we can only hope that Giratina succeeds. If she forces Yveltal out, the world may become balanced again."
"MAY?!"
"May. Because the world may have been unbalanced for too long to have even something like that right itself again."
"Is there any other way that will always work?" Dawn frowned.
"I don't know..."
"We've been separated for so long, Troublesome! You've had all this time to think without me snapping at you!" Paul growled.
"Oh, shut up, you." Dawn sighed. "Well, there is one way."
"WHAT IS IT?!"
"Maybe, just maybe, light and darkness can save the day..." Paul rolled his eyes.
"You make no sense, Troublesome. The only way now is to wait here, on Legendary Island."
"Oh, you'll see Paul. Just wait." Just then, two figures entered the cave.
"Giratina! And... Yveltal," Dawn spat as she changed into her Cresselia form and Paul his Darkrai form.
"You did it!" Darkrai's eyes were lit up with excitement. "Does that mean-"
"I've failed..." Giratina muttered. "It's too late."
"It's my fault..." Yveltal sighed. "I can't do anything about it either... because only the Lake Guardians can do anything to help Gary."
"Is that the only way?" Cresselia pressed.
"What shows true balance?" Giratina asked, as a devious smile suddenly appeared on her face.
"What?" Paul asked confused.
"Light and dark. Which, is you and Cresselia." Cresselia smirked at Darkrai.
"HA! I TOLD YOU!"
"What are we supposed to do, then?!" Darkrai spat.
"Unite your powers." Both Cresselia and Darkrai were confused now.
"How?" They asked in unison.
"Figure it out," Giratina grunted with a smirk. "Good luck, you two lovebirds."
~~~

"That's very interesting, (Name)," Norman said irritably. "But if you can excuse us, we need to go now." (Name) had barely finished her introduction.

"Please, Mr. and Mrs. Maple, hear me out," (Name) muttered, sighing.

"WAIT A MINUTE! ARE YOU LADY (NAME) OF KALOS?!" Max, who, even though was nineteen, was still immature as ever.

"...Yes. As a matter of fact, I am." (Name) inclined her head. "Good to know I haven't been forgotten."

"Is your sister Leaf? Leaf (Last Name)?" (Name) flinched.

"Yes. That's my sister. Please don't bring her up a lot though; that's a really sore spot."

"What happened to her?"

"She... she disappeared, didn't you hear?"

"Of course I heard! What I'm asking is, where did she g-"

"Max, stop being so rude," Caroline demanded. Max shut up and (Name) turned to face Norman again, although her face was pained. She thought about her sister almost every week even though she had been missing for many years.

"Drew and May... I heard that they've been through a lot together. It seems as if they've known each other for more than a decade now."

"Your point is?" Norman questioned. (Name) had to restrain from rolling her eyes at his rude behavior.

"If one of them was a bad person, I think the other would know by now and would stop hanging around the other."

"Mmhmm..." Norman seemed to consider this statement for a second.

"And," (Name) added. "There really isn't a point of separating them. Mr. Maple, do you really want your daughter to suffer in depression for the rest of her life?"

Norman was silent. May had a few tears running down her face. Drew awkwardly handed her a tissue. Kaila was sleeping. Max was bored. Caroline was tapping her feet anxiously. And (Name) was breathing hard, incredibly nervous.

"Fine," Norman sighed. "May, I approve." May breathed a sigh of relief and grinned at her father.

"Thank you so much Dad-"

"But you," Norman interrupted, glaring at Drew. "You BETTER take good care of my daughter."

"Yes sir! I mean mister! I mean May's dad! I mean-" Drew looked flustered, which was a big surprise to May since Drew was the cool, calm, and collected type.

"Hmph." Norman seemed annoyed. "You better protect her and make sure she doesn't get hurt. Or," he added with a deadly glare. "Watch your back." Drew shuddered slightly and May laughed at her green-haired lover, who glared at her.

~~~
"(Name)... I'm... I'm so sorry..." May took a shaky breath as (Name) told the whole story to May. Drew however, looked indifferent.
"I knew that," he said nonchalantly when (Name) raised an eyebrow at his stoic expression.
"WHAT?!"
"Ash told me." (Name) gritted her teeth.
"Ash Ketchum?"
"Yeah. One of my best friends." (Name) growled under her breath.
"THAT LITTLE- I MEAN, I TOLD HIM NOT TO TELL-"
"(Name), calm down." May sighed as (Name)'s hyperventilating slowly died down.
"Anyway, it's hopeless now." The (h/c)-haired girl shrugged. "I'll... I'll find love again someday." May and Drew exchanged glances and shook their heads simultaneously.
"(Name), stop it, it hurts less when you can accept the fact that you still love him..." May sighed.
"I know. I know I still love him. But can't you see? Maybe we weren't meant to be..."
~~~

"Can anything else hurt more?" (Name) muttered to herself, looking at the invitation in her hand. "Being invited to your ex-boyfriend's wedding? The one who doesn't remember at all who you are?"

(Name) was back home from Drew and May's. They had tried to persuade her to stay for dinner but no avail. (Name) needed some time alone. Maybe not even just some time.

Maybe forever, she thought with a sad smile on her face. I'm being an attention whore. I should be happy for Drew and May yet I'm caught up in my own problems. And now they feel sorry for me...

I need to stop causing pain for others, I need to face my problems on my own. (Name) took in a shaky breath. I am going to move again. This time, I am going to make sure no one finds me. That no one from my past life will know who I am. I'll be a completely different person. No longer will I ever be (Name) (Last Name). All that name has brought me is shame. (Name) swallowed hard as tears welled up in her eyes. This is the moment I've been waiting for. Finally. I won't hurt anyone anymore. Anyone.

Then (Name) once again glanced at the invitation. Might as well go... I want to see him happy... one last time. The (h/c)-haired girl sighed heavily as she began to pack. It was time to return home before disappearing forever.

Just like her sister before her.

I wish you were here, Leaf. I wish you were never gone. Then I would know that there is still someone there for me. That there is still someone who loves me with all their heart. Even if everyone else forgot about me, I would still have you... you would never forget... I miss you.

You broke your promise...

You said you would come back.

But I guess, some promises, you cannot keep.

FLASHBACK

"Well, maybe we won't get married yet. But when we go on our journey, promise to stay with me."

"I will."

END OF FLASHBACK

I broke that promise. Just like Leaf. But this time, it only shattered myself. But even though I am broken, Ana fixed him. So now I can see him again. All I ever wanted him to be was happy.
