I Am My Own Demon
utt Raven's POV:
I want to feel bad about locking them out, but I don't and I can't. I can't really feel anything. I'm not myself anymore. I'm just a giant rage bomb just waiting to explode and wreak havoc.
Sleeping is the only downtime I have now. When I do go out if I interact with the others I can't do much but say small sentences if even that.
I actually wasn't in my room for yvery long. There isn't much for me to do. I don't want to meditate because I know that if I enter my mind I am not coming out, and I can't read because it takes my concentration away from keeping Rage at bay.
While the others go to battle villains, I stay home and battle my own demons.
Literally.
My life just isn't the same anymore. All of ours are. I'm a threat as it is without me being so unstable. At this point there isn't much for me to do other than walk around, drink tea, and contemplate about if I should just end it right there and then. But then I think of Robin, and Beast Boy, and Starfire, and Cyborg. I already destroyed the world once. What would they do if I did it again?
It's noon, and all I can think of doing is take a nap. My demon is about to come out. At this point at any minute. It's just waiting beneath my skin to come out and help my father. I can' hold her back much longer. So I guess I'll go into the safe room with a cup of tea, just to be safe (like it will make much of a difference).
I got out some paper and wrote a note so I wouldn't have to explain it.
I keep the bottle for this specific purpose. Azar said it was a special potion, but I never thought it would actually work.
I left my room for the first time all day and went to the kitchen. The others were already there. No crime all morning. Part of me wishes they would go do something other than be in the house.
"Hey Raven." Robin said.
"Hi." I said.
This was basically what it was like talking to the others. One or two of them would say "Hi" or "Hey Raven" or whatever variant of that (Usually Robin or Cyborg. Star and Beast Boy always think that it's not their place to ask), then I'd give a simple hi. Sometimes they ask how I'm doing, and I usually say, "Worse than yesterday." Or whenever the last time I talked to them was. I've been pretty negative lately too.
"Friend Raven, we know you cannot talk much but we would like to know...truly...what will be the happenings." Weird. Star was usually to sheepish to say anything other than Hi. I looked at them.
"Uh, yeah, I hope we're not stepping over any lines asking, but we would really like to know." Cyborg said.
"I...uh....I....*sigh*. Here." I handed them the note and turned around, they read it while my back was still turned.
"Bottle? What Bo-" I cut beast Boy off by disappearing. I opened the door to the safe room. The locks to the door are connected to Cyborg's system so they know I'm in here. I set my cup on the ground and looked at the signs around the room. When they first built this room for me it was to protect me from Slade and Trigon. Now it's being used to protect them from me. I never thought would ever do that.
I sat down on the metal floor. I want to relax so badly, but if I did that would be the end of it.
Then it felt like somebody dropped a car on my head. I stood up and held my head. It was pounding like somebody was banging a drum in my ears. Then my balance started to waver. I swayed around the room. I'm trying to get my grip on something, but all of the walls are smooth as ice. I slipped and fell because I tried putting all of my weight on the wall. When I landed I heard banging on the door. When it opened The others came running in and Beast Boy had the bottle in his hand. Robin took my head in his hands and repeatedly screamed my name. Then my eyes closed, and I saw my broken mind.
Robin's POV:
"Bottle? What Bo-" Raven cut Beast Boy off by disappearing. "-ttle."
"She's letting us go into her room?" Cyborg asked.
"I guess so." I answered.
"Friends, should we not check on Raven?" Star asked.
"Let's just listen to Raven this time. Besides, I have a camera in there. I can check on her whenever I need to without disturbing her." Cy informed us. He looked at his arm and pushed a few buttons. "Right now she just went into the room and is walking towards the center of the room. Now she just sat down. We're good."
"Alright then! Let's go find that bottle!" Beast Boy yelled way too enthusiastically.
I wonder why Raven wants us to get this bottle. I guess we'll figure it out when we read the label.
I slowly opened the door and the only light in there is the sunlight pouring through the windows. We all headed toward the vanity and moved it. There's a small box shape indented in the wall. Star looked closer at it.
"Friends this seems to be some sort of door." We all looked closer and saw there was a tiny handle painted the same as the wall. I pulled it and there was the bottle.
The neck is only about an inch, inch and a half tall, a roundish bottom, and a cork. It had a purpley-Blue colored liquid in it. Close to the color of raven's cloak but just a little darker than that. I pulled it out and read the label Raven and tired to the neck with twine.
"ONLY FOR USE IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES! This is potion that protects its user(s) from demons."
"Raven kept this specifically to protect us from her." Cyborg said. I flipped over to the back.
"Ingredients: Thistle, salt, vinegar, rose petals, Aligory Stone, Amethyst, and," there was a like where Raven write her name. "Raven's magic"
"Raven put some of her magic in there? This stuff must be really powerful!" Beast Boy said.
"How do you apply it?" Star asked.
"It doesn't say on the label." I answered.
"Try looking in the compartment. There might be something else in there." Cyborg suggested. That box is deep. I was able to fit my whole forearm in there before touching something. I felt a handle. When I pulled it out it was,
"A spoon?" Cyborg said. "Why a spoo- wait- does that mean we are all supposed to drink that stuff?! Oh now way am I ingesting that! It's got a part of Raven in it! That's just creepy!"
"Well she obviously wants us to take it." I said.
"It's got rocks in it!"
"Would Raven ask us to take it if it was not eatable?" Star pointed out. Then Cy grumbled something I couldn't hear.
Starfire took the bottle and the spoon from my hand and uncorked the bottle. She carefully poured the stuff out of the bottle onto the spoon. It was thick like syrup.
"I'm glad there's no meat in this thing." Beast boy said. Star finished pouring and shoved the spoon in her mouth.
"Well?" I asked. I wonder what it actually tastes like. She burped and a little cloud of Raven's magic came out.
"It has the consistency of the honey and tastes like glorpnorp pudding!" We all gagged. "But to compare it to your earth food, it tastes like a mix of the honey, sugar, black berries and the water. I think."
"So it's sweet?" I asked.
"Yes very much so!"
"How is that even possible? It's got salt and vinegar in it." I said.
"Who cares! Me next!" Beast boy snatched the spoon and bottle from Star and poured it into the spoon.
"She's right! It tastes really sweet!" Then Cy poured his share.
"Wow. This is really really sweet." Then I finished off the bottle.
"Jeez." It was sweet. Just as Star described it. Then all of us (minus Star) burped a little black cloud.
"You think it's like last time? Like how we use it?" Beast Boy asked.
There was a loud beeping noise that came from Cyborg. He looked at his arm.
"Guys...look." We all rushed over to him and looked at the screen. Raven was clutching her head like she was in pain. Then her hood fell of as she stood up and stumbled around the room.
"Titans Go!" I yelled. We all sprinted down to the safe room. We all pounded on the door.
"Raven!" We all yelled repeatedly. Cyborg looked at the camera.
"Guys! Raven just slipped and fell on her back!" Without hesitation I kicked the door down and Raven was on the floor. She's still conscious. I ran over to her and lifted her head up. Her eyes became thinner and thinner. I shook her in an attempt to keep her awake.
"Raven!" I yelled repeatedly as she blacked out.
I kept shaking her. Star pressed her ear against her chest.
"She still has the heartbeat and is breathing." Cyborg scanned her.
"She's just...sleeping."
"What do we do?" Beast Boy said with drooped ears.
"We do what she asked." I commanded.
"Are you sure we should just leave her here? Are you sure that it's-" I cut Cy off.
"Guys lets just do what she asked us to do. If we do, she'll be fine. I'm sure of it." I seriously mean that. I can tell. Just like last time, things are going to get really bad, but it will all turn our okay.
Raven's POV:
My mind is in shambles. Right now I'm standing on a rock platform. That's it. Along with some floating rubble. The sky was pretty much black other than some red star-like things. I wanted to call out for somebody, but that could be hazardous. Then I saw Timid. Her back was facing me. I tried flying away but I didn't leave the platform. I didn't even jump. My feet are stuck to it. Then it jerked forward toward Timid.
"No no no! Go back!" I whispered frantically. Like it was listening to me. Talking to timid, strangely, is the last thing I want to do right now. But the thing didn't listen to me. Shocking.
I pulled right behind Timid. If she didn't know I was there before, she does now.
"Hi Raven." She said in her normal, shy voice. I thought it would be deformed like mine gets when I demonize.
"Hello...Timid." I answered slowly.
"Do you know why you're here?" She asked.
"Sort of." She turned around, revealing her 4 red eyes.
"Because it's the end for you Raven. It's our turn." Her voice was deformed now. Surprise surprise.
Then Knowledge came.
"Yes Raven."
Then Lazy.
"We want to come out."
"You kept us locked up." Sloth.
"For so long people barely see us." Passion.
"Now we're going to come out." Happy.
"And stay out." Rage. With the most demented voice of them all.
They are all circled around me. I lunged at Timid, but she pushed me back.
"Don't even try Raven." My face told my whole story. "Don't be scared. Save that for later." Timid said. I'm sitting on the ground. Trembling. I have no idea what is going to happen to me at this point.
I felt a force pulling me backwards. It was Rage. Then she dangled me up in the air like a rag doll by my neck. I'm gasping for air while my own rage is trying to choke me. I furiously tried fighting back.
"Yes get angry. That's all we need." She said. I calmed down and she just dropped me and I fell like a rock. I coughed as my lungs took in air. "Whatever. I've got what we need. Minions. Formation." They all reached out their hands.
"What are you doing?!" I yelled fighting back tears.
"Oh just a little something to keep you in here." She said devilishly. Then they all started talking together.
"Corrillian Mortis Forta. Azarath Metrion Zinthos." As they repeated this, chains appeared around my wrists and ankles. I struggled but that only made the chains stronger. Then a sphere appears around me and seals itself off. I keep struggling, but it's not working.
"Now that you are, safely secured, we can go about our business." Rage put an emphasis on "safely secured" just to taunt me. Then they all yanked off of their cloaks to reveal the horned, red skinned, white haired, yellow eyed demon they intended me to be, and left.
I'm here. Alone. Trapped within my mind. Powerless and weak. And the worst part is, I will be aware of everything that I do when the demon comes out. Everyone I hurt, everything I do, anybody I see. I will be aware, but not in control.
I really hope they all took it. They are going to need it.
