At age seven | part 2
I remember the sun blazing down over us as we played tag in the field at recess. We played by ourselves because for some reason we were against letting anyone else play with us. Some kids would ask, and we'd tell them it's only a two player game... But was it really? Was it really? Playing tag was so pointless when its only two people. The whole excitement was not knowing which poor soul was going to eat dirt after being yelled 'TAG YOU'RE IT' at. However, I guess we just found excitement in the idea of us chasing after each other.
Anyway, back to the point, Sam was 'it' and he had chased me all around the field. There was the occasional times that the tips of his fingers would barely reach the sleeve of my tshirt, but I would never admit that he actually tagged me. I'd claim 'I didnt feel anything' and he'd go along with it because that boy was kinder than Phil Lester. So we'd carry on like before, me wheezing and sweating off hundreds of pounds as I ran and him running to the point where I feared his legs might fall off. He chased me until the bell was about to ring, and until a girl awkwardly stopped him. I glued my feet to the grass close by, not too close in fear he may tag me, but close.
The girls cheeks stained a rosy pink, bringing out the freckles that covered them. She smiled toothily at him and rocked back and forth. With on hand playing with her long braid behind her back, and the other holding out a pink blossom from the blossom tree just outside the school fence. Like said before, Sam was always incredibly kind so he accepted it, leaving me feeling upset.
For some reason, I amazed that she went outside of school grounds just to get him a flower, but I was also left jealous. A deep pit of envy just balling up inside of me.
I got over that feeling quickly though. I got over it because after he took it from her, he turned to see me and smiled cheek to cheek. He walked over to me and after holding the same flower out to me he said "got you a flower."
