Sans padded out to the middle of the room and tore an old tarp off of a lumpy machine.

"this," Sans began, gesturing towards the machine, "is what i like to call a cross-dimensional window. it allows you to look in on a different world or timeline and see what's happening there in real time. today we're going to use it to view your world."

The machine had a large screen attached to a large steel body. Many small buttons blinked and glowed around the machine. Sans pressed a button and a keyboard popped out below the screen. He punched in a few numbers and hit enter, and the screen slowly faded to life.

As I wandered around the paths staring up at the empty trees, I had the strange feeling I was being watched. I ignored it and kept searching for dark candies. I had been able to stabilize Susie's body so it wouldn't disintegrate, but she was far from alive. Every now and then, she'd begin turning to dust, and then I'd feed her some dark candy. I had nearly run out, I had 5 left. Lancer and I had been harvesting from the trees for a week now, and it seemed we had run out. We ran the Dark World dry.

The ground shook. Around me, the empty trees phased in and out of vision. I braced myself for the splitting headache that always came after these earthquakes. It felt as through my entire being was rejecting itself. These earthquakes had been happening more and more often recently. I still had no idea where they were coming from.

I returned to searching soon after. Even though there were so few dark candies left, they were our last hope. Everyone had already evacuated beside Lancer and I, and he was far too tired to attack, so I couldn't even regain my TP enough to use a heal prayer. Seam had taken his stock with him, so dark burgers were out of the question.

"Ralsei! Ralsei, look!" Lancer cried out from behind me. "I found one!" Lancer held up a half smashed dark candy. I smiled and took it from him.

"Thank you, Lancer. Go on, keep searching. We can't give up." Lancer nodded and bounded away to keep looking. As I looked down at the inedible berry in my hand, I felt my hope slip away. The ground shook once more, and tears fell from my face.

Little reminder that time goes faster in the Dark World so that's why Ralsei said they had been searching for a week. It has only been two days.
