29 - All My Love
Minho kissed my lips with utter passion. Light from the window made his handsome features stand out while our lips moved with each other. He lingered a moment before fully pulling away.
"Wait for me?" Minho asked, grabbing my hand.
"Always," I responded with a smile.
He kissed my forehead before exiting the Map Room to go to a gathering.
I sighed and stared at the door. My burns were somewhat healed now but I constantly thought about Leo and what he said to me. I desperately wanted to tell Minho, but his safety was more important to me then mine.
I walked over to a chair that faced a wall and planted myself on it. I really didn't feel like dealing with people right now. I wanted to sit here with my own thoughts for awhile so that maybe I could sort them out.
All of a sudden a hand covered my mouth. I stiffened and sat as still as I could. The person was breathing lightly, they seemed calm.
"Don't scream, Anne."
Leo.
Something sharp pressed into my left shoulder blade forcefully. "I will not hesitate to send this machete through your back. Now I'm going to remove my hand and you're going to be quiet. Got it?" he questioned. I nodded.
He took his hand off my mouth slowly while pressing the blade in harder. "Now stand up and turn around." I did as he said and when I saw his face he smiled.
"Now, I want this to be close to a fair fight. So go to the other side of the room then I won't kill you as fast, okay?" he spat.
My body shook with fear but I followed his instructions.
"Can you at least tell me why you're doing this?" I asked.
Leo cocked his head and furrowed his dark eyebrows. "Isn't it obvious?" he said. "You killed Josh, my best friend."
"But I didn't mean to!" I objected. "It wasn't me."
He pointed the the machete at me. "It was you, I saw you. Don't lie to me!" he screamed.
"I'm not lying!"
Leo scoffed while running his finger on the metallic metal of the machete. "I know you're trying to save yourself, Anne. You will say anything, but right now I don't have the patience, nor the will, to believe a word that comes out of your pretty little mouth."
I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration. He's gone over the edge and there is no way I'm getting through to him, but if this worked I might buy myself some time.
"What makes you better then me, huh? You've tortured me, made me weak, made my mind go nuts. You're worse then me. What would Josh think?"
Leo narrowed his eyes. "I wouldn't know what he would think. Because he's not HERE! YOU KILLED HIM!" he screamed. His chest rapidly rose and fell because of his sudden outburst. "You know why he was going in the woods that day?"
I shook my head.
"He was going to pick you flowers because he thought you were pretty," Leo chuckled. "But it looks like that was cut short."
I looked to the floor with guilt flooding my body. "I'm sorry," I said sincerely.
"It's too late for that, Annie."
"I wish I was dead and not him, believe me on that."
"Well, it looks like half of your wish is going to be granted."
Leo suddenly rushed forward, the machete raised above his head. Thinking quickly, I dove to the right just as he swung. The blade hit the wall but he rapidly regained his composure.
I scrambled to my feet and ran to the other side of the room. A table separated us, when I looked at it I got an idea. When Leo started to advance toward me I sprinted to the table and flipped it over so it crashed into him. He hit the ground before groaning.
"You play dirty, I like it," he sneered.
I ignored him as I ran for the door, but I didn't reach it in time. I felt something skim my arm, when I looked down I saw a large gash with blood spilling out.
Leo was just standing up, that meant if I could find the blade in time he wouldn't have a weapon anymore. I spotted it lying on the floor a few feet away. I ran to grab it but Leo tackled me to the ground.
He punched my face a couple times before I kneed him. He rolled off me while gripping himself where my knee connected. I used this time to reach for the machete. I got it in my hand and I immediately swung my arm toward him. The blade cut into his back, ripping his shirt down the middle. The pain woke him up from his groaning and he got to his feet when I did.
I extended my arm so the machete separated us. Leo smirked before grabbing my arm. I didn't have time to react while he forced my own hand to point the machete at my face. He shoved me into the wall and made the dagger come centimeters to piercing my skin. After I dropped the blade Leo caught. He then cut from the middle of my forehead to a little below my eyebrow. Then he cut from eye to my cheek.
"That's going to leave a scar," he stated.
Suddenly he slashed my stomach. My breath hitched as I pressed my hand onto the wound.
"Run, girl. Run for your life," he whispered as he stepped away from me.
I went for that door as quickly as I could. I threw it open and raced out. I could hear his demonic laugh close behind me.
The box started to open without warning. I took that as a sign to go towards it. The moment I was next to it I was pushed inside. I landed on my arm and I heard a horrible crunching sound. Leo jumped inside the box next to me. He kicked my stomach repeatedly, making more blood splatter out.
"Stop, please," I pleaded. The pain was becoming so unbearable I had to beg.
"Never. I want you to suffer!" he roared.
When he stopped kicking me he ordered me to stand. When I couldn't he held me up by my throat.
"Get off of her!" someone shouted. I looked up to see Minho with a machete in his hand.
Leo grinned and kissed my cheek. "Goodbye," he whispered.
"No!" I screamed as the blade plunged into my stomach.
Seconds later Leo was stabbed through the head. I fell to the ground with his lifeless body.
Minho rushed towards me and held me in his arms. I coughed up blood as pain exploded through my entire body.
"Hold on, Anne. You're going to be okay," Minho tried to reassure me.
"I don't think I'm coming back from this one, Minho," I told him as I coughed up more blood. "The wound is too deep and I've lost too much blood already."
"No. You're not dying. You can't die," he cried. He stroked my hair while looking into my eyes.
My eyes drooped, it was a constant struggle to stay conscious. "Tell Newt I'm going to miss him and that he's been the greatest friend I could ask for."
"You can tell him yourself."
"Tell Gally he's an ass," I chuckled.
Minho wiped some tears from his face. "I think he already knows that," he laughed.
I groaned when my stomach began to hurt even more. "I can't take it anymore," I sobbed. "It's too much."
"You said you'd wait for me right? That's what I need you to do. Wait for me, please," Minho begged.
"I'll always wait for you, Minho. Even in death, I'll wait," I said.
"I'm going to take you to the Med-Jacks." Minho started to lift me up but it hurt me even more.
"It's too late," I breathed. Minho continued trying to get me up. "Just.. Just... Just hold me, please." He slumped to floor and held me so that I was looking at his face. "Thank you."
"Thank you for what?" he asked, caressing my cheek.
"Thank you for not giving up on me. Thank you for being my friend. Thank you for ... Thank you for loving me."
My body was going limp, I could feel everything shutting down. My eyes left Minho's face and fell onto the pale blue sky.
I knew I was going to die any second now, but I wasn't afraid. This was my chance to escape all of the pain and suffering.
The last thing I heard was Minho's sweet voice. "Anne, I-"
Then I greeted death like an old friend.
