First Meetings
So this Fanfiction took me awhile to figure out. I had problems with this one! But I figured it out and this is the first chapter (includes both Klaus's POV and Caroline's).

My ride had left me.
I had little idea as to where he'd went, but I assumed someplace, as he was nowhere to be found and neither was his car.
I groaned loudly to myself. The bonfire was beginning to die down as my fellow classmates began to disperse, convening with their designated driver while mine had apparently ditched me. My own vehicle had suffered a blow out and was getting fixed, so without an alternative, the options were null.
Just my luck.
I sat on the log and dug out my phone from the depths of my bag. Mom and I had had a fight earlier and there was little desire to ask to be picked up. Sheriff Forbes was working, and I had already put a huge emphasis on the word Sheriff, because no friend would ever invite me to another party if I was the one to call the cops on them.
It's the reason it had taken this long to be invited in the first place.
At that reminder, I snapped the phone closed and stood up, slinging my bag over my head.
Walking it was then.
Pillars of shadow rose on either side of me as I left the bonfire behind, it's firelight dying away. Soon, it was replaced by the moon's that pooled its pearlescent glow on the ground, like a silky carpet rolled through the trees. I followed it back to the street, dipped completely in darkness and the sight with the dim bulbs lit on every block made it more eerie, the scene like something from a horror show.
My eyes searched for signs of life in the town, but the the place was as quiet as the grave, so silent, an ear could detect a pin drop.
When something howled from the trees, my heart clambered up my throat and my head snapped in the direction of it. It was just coming from the woods and I laughed shakily to myself and kept walking.
My gaze continued to rove down the sidewalk but they couldn't permeate the night and I shivered in the sudden cold.
Nothing was out here, I chastised herself. There were no big bad monsters hiding in the alleyways I passed. There was no mugger wielding a knife around the corner. On the contrary, Mystic Falls was a safe place. It was-
A scream shattered the stillness.
Safe.
I froze, my joints locking in place as my gaze swept down both sides of the streets. It was nearly two in the morning and every store's windows were blacked out, leaving me utterly and helplessly exposed.
I cursed under my breath.
But then a laugh broke out from somewhere behind me and I whirled around, catching sight of a woman walking down the street, appearing drunk. A guy was coaxing her forward and caught her before she fell to the ground.
I sighed in relief.
"Does it not see a bit careless to be walking this late without an escort, Love?" A voice said from behind me and I instantly jerked back, nearly tripping over my feet.
Before me stood a man in a dark jacket and jeans, watching my face steadily behind a pair of mysterious eyes. They were set on high, chiseled cheekbones that seemed almost inhuman and a strand of dirty blond hair fell across his face.
I swallowed-loudly. A red alarm seemed to blare from some corner of my mind, but I squandered it, determined to sound calm. Nothing intimidated a guy more than a girl who didn't sound as scared as she felt.
"I'm not alone," I lied.
I was a terrible liar.
"Are you quite sure?" He asked. His voice lilted in a strong British accent and I involuntarily swallowed again. Who was this guy?
"Yup. In fact, I'm waiting for my mom. The sheriff."
Being the daughter of a cop evidently had its occasional perks.
He studied me carefully, the moonlight hooding his gaze. "I see," he finally said. "Well, one knows better than to keep a mother waiting."
I stared at him awkwardly and then began to back up slowly, hoping he'd get the memo that I was over talking to him. He didn't and I had to be more clear. "Yeah. Well....bye."
"What's your name, Love?" He asked suddenly.
Love?
My annoyance, mingled with fear, abruptly piqued. "Look, Weird British dude, I don't know you. And I have a mace in my bag. If you so much as take a step towards me, I'll permanently blind you."
This seemed to humor him and he smiled just a bit. "I don't wish to cause alarm," he said calmly. "And I apologize if I've frightened you. I had no ill intentions."
I scoffed but gave a bitter smile before turning on my heel. I watched him in my peripheral vision, just as a precautionary measure.
"Love?" I asked myself out loud when I was a distance away. I cast a glance over my shoulder. "What kind of a creep calls perfect strangers 'Love?'"
______________
He watched her go with wary eyes. There was something about that girl that had surprised Klaus. And the threat of pepper spray had only added to the humor of it. Perhaps one could see it as bravery, but Klaus also saw it as being incredibly reckless. Maybe even purely idiotic.
To think, a mere human teenage girl admonishing a-so-called weapon to the face of a thousand year old vampire.
If only she knew the monster caged inside.
