2: Little Red Lies

"Good morning Jane, Thomas," Lisbon told us when we walked into the door. I may not be Missy Thomas anymore, but everyone here still called me that. They probably will until I die. I don't mind, cause we already have one Jane.

"Morning Lisbon," I told her taking a seat at my desk. Ugh, I had paper work to do from the last case we did, and it was a lot. I sighed and got out a pencil and started to fill out the sheets. I didn't look up from it until someone cleared their throat. I saw everyone standing in front of the desk, and they had smiles on their faces. "Should I be scared?" I asked them.

"Yep," Rigsby said and he placed a blindfold on me.

"Hey!" I cried and I heard them laugh.

"No peeking," Cho told me.

"I can't see! Where are you taking me?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Patrick asked me. Someone pulled me to my feet and lead me to a room. I laughing at the jester, and a little worried about what they were planning. They stopped me and took the blindfold off. I was looking at the break room with streamers and balloons. On the table sat a cake that said 'Happy birthday Missy!' in green letters and five presents next to it. Candles were in it, and Rigsby lit them. Then they sang, which was on of the worst things I have ever heard, but it was sweet. I blew them out quickly, making a wish.

"You didn't have to do this!" I told them looking at all of it. They laughed and sat me down.

"We know," VanPelt replied with a smile, "but we wanted to do something special for you. Want some cake?"

"Did you just ask me if I wanted cake? Of course I do!"

"Then let's dig in!" Lisbon told us and she cut the cake and gave us pieces. We eat and Cho was the first to speak from our food.

"So how is your birthday so far?" he asked me.

"It might be the best I ever had," I answered giggling. "A sweet boy and girl woke me up, than they gave me breakfast in bed and a beautiful ring and flower."

"Hey, I helped!" Patrick told me. I smiled.

"And a wonderful man asked me on a date," I finished and he smiled.

"Do you want to open your gifts we got you?" Rigsby asked me.

"Um, yeah!"

I opened all five of the brightly colored presents, and I loved them all. I got a scarf from VanPelt, a sapphire necklace from Cho, a picture frame from Lisbon, a par of ear rings from Patrick (How many gift did he get me?), and a new pair of heals from Rigsby.

"You all didn't have to spend all this money on me!" I told them looking at all the new things from them.

"Hey, your birthday is a special time of year," VanPelt told me. "You should be treated like this when it is your birthday."

"Besides, we all didn't get you anything for the past two years," Lisbon said making me laugh. It was true, we haven't given each other gifts in a long time.

"You have worked hard, take some time to enjoy your wonderful friends and this delicious cake," Rigsby said stuffing his mouth with it. VanPelt hit him and he smiled.

"That is gross!" she cried and we laughed at her face.

"That is my cake their buddy!" I told him taking the plate from him.

"Hey!"

"Do I have to send you two to your room?" Patrick asked us with a stern voice.

"No Dad," Rigsby answered with a smile.

"Once a dad, always a dad," Cho put in. The phone started to ring and Lisbon answered it. She looked at all of us and her smile was gone.

"Alright, I hate to do this, but party's over. We have a case to solve," she told us and we all got up and followed her to the cars and went to the crime scene.

*Patrick's pov*

It was too bad Missy's party was cut short. I really wanted her to have an off day on her birthday. I guess the term that crime never sleeps is right. We got to the house and I saw the body of the woman. She had green hair that was blue at the end. Her eyes were closed and she had a nose, mouth, and eyebrow piercing. I guess it was the dad in me, but this girl was not someone I wanted Alexis to be or Brayson to bring home.

"Names Lucy King," Cho told Lisbon. "This is her house, but neighbors say that she lived alone. Mom said she didn't have a boyfriend, had a good make do job to get her through college, and had a bright future.

"What's with the hair?" Rigsby asked. "And the piercings?"

"A friend outside said she made a bet that she lost. She had to die her hair like that for six mouths, and everyone knew it. The piercings are fake," VanPelt told him.

"Where is the mom?" Missy asked looking around. "And the friend?"

"Outside. What to do talk to them?" Lisbon asked and Missy nodded. She left from the front door, and I followed.

"Mrs. King?" Missy called out to a woman in her early sixties and a girl in her mid twenties. The woman had orange hair and green eyes. Her skin had freckles all over it, and she looked upset. The girl was much nicer looking, with her curly brown hair and sweet grey eyes, she looked very nice.

"Yes?" the woman asked. "Are you with the CBI?"

"Yes. I'm agent Missy Jane, and I need to ask you some questions. Both of you. What's your name?"

"Summer," she told her. "Summer Parker."

"Alright Summer, Mrs. King, what can you tell me about Lucy's death?"

"I don't know," Mrs. King answered with tears in her eyes. "Lucy was always a good kid, got good grades. She had a lot of friends and people just seemed to like her. You wouldn't know how hard it is to loss a good kid, Ms. Jane."

"Mrs. Jane," Missy corrected.

"Your married?"

"I am."

"Do you have any children? They must find it tough with a mother for a cop. My father was one, and I was scared everyday he wouldn't come home."

"I have two. A boy named Brayson Lee, and a girl named Alexis Marie."

"Alexis, what a beautiful name. I have a sister names that. What made you pick it?"

"My middle name is Alexis."

"What a wonderful name. Oh, I'm here about my baby girl being killed. I'm sorry Mrs. Jane, I just need to take my mind off of it."

"It's fine. I understand. So, Summer, what can you tell me about this murder?"

"Lucy had a lot of friends," she told her, and I saw Missy think about something. I wasn't standing close, so I didn't really see any of their faces. "No one seemed to hate her, and she was a good friend."

"Well, thank you all for helping," Missy told them standing up. "I am sorry for your loss Mrs. King, and time will heal the hurt, trust me."

Missy walked over to me looking back at the two. She shock her head and looked at me.

"What is it?" I asked her.

"Summer was lying about everything she said, besides her name," Missy answered.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that Lucy didn't have a lot of friends. Lucy had a lot of people who hated her, and that she wasn't a good friend."

"I see. So Lucy wasn't the most popular kid in school. Well I think I have what I need, how about you?"

"Patrick there is a murder to solve," she told me walking away.

"Doesn't mean we can't have a little fun!"

I knew her well enough to know she was rolling her at me and smiling at the same time. She walked into the house, and I followed. We did have a murder to solve, and I think I had a good idea who did it.

So how was that? Was it good, bad, ugly, stupid, anymore words you can describe it with? Hope they are all good. I have no idea how this will go, like on chapter on the case, the next for lovey stuff or life, than back to the case. It feels weird, but hey, I have a story to keep going! So let me know what you think. Also what do you plan on doing this New Years? I plan on playing video games and thinking back on 2013. Well enjoy. Peace out my Stars!
