14: Wake Up
I was awakened by my head being moved. I opened my eyes slowly to see the hospital room that Patrick was in, and I didn't see any doctors around. I sat up and stretched, thinking how I was more then likely spend the day here since I had nothing else to do. I didn't think too much about my head being moved.
"Missy?" a voice croaked, and I looked at Patrick's face. I gasped when I saw his light blue eyes look up at me, and he smiled. "I'm not dead?" he asked, and I hugged him.
"Not even close," I answered, and I felt tears go down my checks, and I felt him cry also.
"Good," he sighed, and looked me in the eyes. "What happened? I remember being shout, but after that it is all a blank."
"You made up with me for one thing," I answered, and he nodded. "You made me promise to remember you, and I gave you a kiss has you passed out. You've been in a coma for the past six months."
"Six months? What have I missed?"
"You missed Brayson's birthday."
"Oh no. Anything else big? What about our anniversary?"
"That's today."
"Then happy anniversary. I wish I could have gotten you something."
"You waking up is the best gift I could ever have gotten. I don't want anything else, and has for Brayson's birthday, all he said he wanted was his daddy back with him and for me to stop crying."
"I think I can give him the first one, but I don't know about your tears."
"You not being here was the source of my tears Patrick. Now I can make them go away unless something else happens."
"The world can't hate us that much."
"Sometimes I just don't know."
"Can I give you one thing for today?"
"What?"
"This," he said pulling me close and kissed me. I kissed back, and I didn't know anything that would make this day better. We separated when the doctor cleared her through. She walked in with a smile.
"Good to see you awake Mr. Jane," she told him and he smiled.
"Good to be awake," he replied taking my hand in his own.
"How do you feel?"
"Like I could get up and stretch. Am I fine?"
"Yes, and in fact if you want to go home you can. Just don't try to do too much with that wound of yours. Your back still shows signs of healing, but it isn't so bad that you can't walk. I believe you have had enough bed rest and need to go home with your wonderful wife and children."
"Thank you Dr. Smith," I told her and she smiled.
"Anytime Mrs. Jane," she said and took the IV's out of his arm, then walked out of the door. I helped Patrick get out of bed and into his clothes. I brought him new ones then the one that had the bullet holes a while ago for whenever he woke up. He used me for support and I took him home. I helped him into the home and sat him on the couch.
"How do you feel?" I asked, and he grinned.
"A little pain, but I feel fine," he answered.
"Do you want to see Brayson and Alexis?"
"What kind of a question was that?"
"A kind you would ask."
"Very funny," he told me while I picked up the phone to call Uncle Louis. He brought them over and told me to tell Patrick he was glad he was finally up. I agreed, and he left. I brought the children in the house, and they cried out with joy when they saw Patrick on the couch.
"Daddy!" they both called and ran over to him. He hugged both of them for a long time with tears in his eyes. I looked with a smile on my face. It was sweet that the kids could finally stop keeping me up at night and that we had a full family again. I walked over and Patrick patted the spot next to him with both his kids on his lap. I sat down and Brayson climbed onto me, and I let him sit.
"Mommy, Daddy woke up!" the little boy told me, and I smiled at him.
"I know," I replied. "Isn't it great?"
"It is!"
"Is Daddy going to sleep again?" Alexis asked, and Patrick stroked her hair.
"Not like this," he answered. "Only at night like you kids do."
"Good," Brayson answered and hugged me. I picked up the remote on the table and Brayson turned on something he wanted to watch. I snuggled up to Patrick, has did the two children. My head fit where his shoulder was, and the kids laid on him. He took me in his right arm and played with Alexis' hair for a while before letting his arm just rest beside him.
We spent a long time like this. I made dinner for us, and we ate together like we usually did when we were all here. We played a game at Brayson's request, and the day just went by so fast that I was sad when it was over. I had my two wonderful children and my husband was with me. I tucked Brayson in and kissed him good night. Patrick also kissed him, and we did the same for Alexis. I changed and climbed into bed with him. I laid my head on his chest to hear his heart that I hadn't been able to hear for so long it was foreign to me.
"Missy?" he asked.
"Hm?" I asked back sleepily.
"I don't think I can sleep," he laughed and I chuckled.
"You don't have too, just don't be loud while I sleep."
"I think I can do that. Good night."
"Good night."
I feel asleep quickly, not a worry in the world.
I just noticed that this chapter is 14, the same number has the date. How did I pull that one off? So only 2 more chapters before the last (maybe) book of the series is posted. It is Remembering Red for those who don't know it. I hope you all like it, I have a lot planed for the book, and I hope you can sink your teeth into the R series. Welp, nothing to say, besides the book I will do after NB, the other fanfic I am doing. The book is called The Black Dragon, an Avengers fanfic, so go look that up. Hope you enjoy it, and look forward to the other chapters and books I have planned. Peace out my Stars!
