Chapter Six (Picture of McGee)
NCIS Navy Yard

Gibbs heard the footsteps on the floor above easily. "Who’s there?" he called out.
There was some hesitation. "It’s just me, boss."
"Come on down, Tony," he told the younger man, clearing off the table in his basement.
There was some creaking on the staircase as Tony walked down them. "I talked to Natasha a little bit today," he started.
Gibbs looked up, interested. "Yeah? What did she say?"
"That’s just it," Tony replied. "She didn’t."
Gibbs raised an eyebrow while tossing some nails out of a jar and pouring some bourbon into it.
"All that she would tell me was that her attacker was a man," Tony elaborated, "and that was only after I tricked her into telling me."
Gibbs’s hand tightened on his glass as he handed the other jar to Tony. "Did he rape her?"
"She said no," Tony replied, shaking his head.
"She was unconscious. She wouldn’t have known what had happened to her."
"She was only gone for about ten minutes. There wasn’t much of an opening."
Gibbs drank a little from his glass, then started thinking. "Whatever happened to her, she’s clearly terrified of whoever it is."
"Did she tell you what happened with Duck?"
"No, she didn’t."
Tony leaned against the table, frowning. "Abby wanted her to check on something, but we still don’t know what it was."
Gibbs nodded. "I’ll ask her tomorrow morning."
Tony nodded, draining the last of his glass. "Thanks, boss."
Gibbs watched as Tony jogged up the stairs. "Tony?"
Tony stopped and leaned back across the railing to look down at Gibbs. "Yeah?"
"Keep an eye on Natasha."
Tony nodded. "I will." With that, he left the house.

The phone rang yet again in the office, and the man sighed in frustration, picking it up. "FBI," he growled.
"You’re in a worse mood than I am."
He shot up in his seat, looking around. It had been a long time since he’d had contact with this guy. When no one looked back at him, he lowered his voice. "I thought you were in Calcutta," he hissed.
"I am. This was important enough to get my attention."
"Yeah? Then this better be good."
"You have large pulses of gamma radiation in your area."
He narrowed his eyes. "Are you serious?"
"I wouldn’t be making this phone call if I wasn’t."
"All right, I’m out of here. Get over here as well."
"Your friends already booked me a flight."
He hung up, grabbed his gun and shield, then took off for the elevator. "Things are definitely speeding up," he commented to himself as the elevator doors closed on him.

"Abbs!"
Abby turned, instantly minimizing the blood test scanner that she had on her screen as Gibbs walked into the lab. "Hey, Gibbs!"
"What did you get on that blood test that Ducky sent you?"
Abby swallowed. "Um . . . it’s still processing."
Gibbs narrowed his eyes. "Still processing?"
Abby nodded. "I was trying to find that weapon that killed Lieutenant Sears, and I didn’t run the blood until when I got here."
Gibbs sighed, shaking his head. "Abby . . . "
Miraculously, her machine beeped at that very moment. "Right on time," Abby murmured, pulling the test up.
And her jaw dropped onto the floor. "Oh. My. God."
"What?" Gibbs demanded, looking over her shoulder.
"We’ve got a problem, Gibbs. We’re not looking for a murderer." She looked at Gibbs. "We’re looking for a father."
"A father?" Gibbs repeated.
"Of Lieutenant Sears’s unborn child," Abby confirmed. "And it’s not Ryan’s or her husband’s."
"She was having an affair with another man," Gibbs realized.
"And she paid the price."
Gibbs exited, still shaking his head. "Thanks, Abbs."
Abby sighed, then reached for her phone and called Natasha and Ducky. "You two might want to get up here."
***
When Natasha walked into Abby’s lab a few minutes later, Abby and Ducky were already waiting. "What happened? Gibbs said there was a breakthrough," she asked, coming to their sides.
"Yes," Ducky confirmed. "Our Navy SEAL Lieutenant was pregnant when she died."
Natasha blinked. "Her husband’s?"
"No," Abby replied.
Natasha blinked again. "Her husband’s DNA didn’t match?"
Abby turned to her screen, pulling it up. "No. And it didn’t match Ryan’s either."
"She was having an affair with another man," Ducky informed her.
"Do you have any idea who it could be?" Abby whispered.
Natasha swallowed. She had a very good idea on who Lieutenant Sears’s lover could be. "Hold onto your sanity," she told them lowly, then closed her eyes.
She felt Abby grip her hand, then Ducky walk to her other side and take hold of her arm. Loki, she thought. There’s something you might want to hear.
***
Loki felt Natasha’s call from where he was sitting on top of the Pentagon. He smiled to himself. Really? he called back to her. What would be so important that you would need to communicate this way?
I know about your affair with Lieutenant Sears.
Loki narrowed his eyes. The mortal woman he’d been so foolish enough to love. Yes. What about it?
When you killed her, you killed your child.
Loki stood, hissing. You meet me someplace we can talk alone, and bring the results with you.
Loki, you know I can’t –
Or do you want me to do what I did to her?
***
Natasha’s eyes flew open when she felt Loki’s threat, and she instantly dropped to the ground, shock warping through her. Dimly, she heard Ducky asking what was wrong and Abby urging her to hold on, but she was focused on Loki. You wouldn’t dare.
I know all of the Kyle Boone case. You were the one woman that survived his serial raping, am I correct?
Just stop.
Then meet me in the warehouse across from the Pentagon. And bring those results. If you are lying, I swear I will activate that gamma radiation inside of you and blow you to kingdom come.

Abby watched in silent terror as Natasha slowly came back to herself, shivering on the floor, Ducky’s arm around her. "What happened?" Abby asked in a whisper.
Natasha shook her head. "I need to go."
Abby watched as she printed out a copy of the blood results. "You know who the father is?" Ducky asked.
"He pretty much just confirmed it," Natasha replied, taking the results and snapping her guns around her waist.
"And you’re going to confront him?" Abby gasped. "Nat, that’s insane!"
"I took him on once. I can do it again."
Abby’s eyes widened, realizing who she was talking about. "Nat – "
"Don’t try and stop me," Natasha warned. "Look, if I don’t call and check in with you in ten minutes, look around on my desk. The picture that you don’t recognize has something on the back. Contact everyone there and tell them that I’m gone, OK?"
Abby swallowed and nodded. "OK."
"And not a word to the rest of the team," Natasha ordered.
Abby looked at Ducky, and he nodded grimly. "I understand."
Abby hugged Natasha tightly. "Good luck."
Natasha smiled weakly. "Thanks." She walked out of the doors. "I’m going to need it."
***
Ducky watched as Natasha left through the elevator. As soon as she disappeared from sight, he looked at Abby. "The team needs to know."
"No kidding," she replied, and they made a mad dash for the other elevator.
***
He watched as the familiar figure once again came from the headquarters. This time, she was in a hurry.
He frowned. Was he here for a specific reason? Or was he supposed to just idly fret, as he remembered his brother putting it?
Either way, he was staying until he was needed.
***
Gibbs walked into the bullpen with Tony to see Ziva and McGee still working on their computers. "Still no match?" he growled in anger.
Ziva shook her head. "No," she replied, obviously as angry as he was. "There’s no weapon on this planet that matches the marks on Lieutenant Sears."
Gibbs automatically turned to look at Natasha, but his gaze landed on her empty desk. He frowned, looking at McGee. "Where’s Natasha?"
"She got a call from Abby telling her to go to the lab," McGee replied. "She still hasn’t come back up." The elevator dinged. "That should be her now," McGee added, turning to look.
But it wasn’t Natasha who emerged. It was Abby and Ducky, both of them looking extremely agitated.
Right then, Gibbs knew something was wrong. "Where is she?" he demanded, getting straight to the point as both of them entered the bullpen.
"She knows who killed Lieutenant Sears and Commander Jenkins," Abby rushed in immediately.
"And she’s going to face him alone," Ducky added.
Ziva frowned. "She said that she didn’t know who it was!"
"She’s scared to death of him," Abby replied, looking at Ziva. "And by the way she cowered on the floor, he knows what she fears most."
"Rape," Gibbs growled, now thoroughly frustrated. "Where is she?"
"She didn’t say," Ducky replied. "But that’s not the worst of our worries."
"She’s poisoned," Abby put in bluntly. "Gamma radiation, huge amounts. She has at least three months to live, Gibbs."
"Can it be treated?" Tony whispered.
Abby swallowed, looking at Ducky. "I don’t know," she whispered.
Gibbs went around his desk and found his gun and shield. "McGee, track her," he ordered. "Ziva, Tony, with me."
Both of them instantly turned and followed Gibbs out of the bullpen.
***
Abby watched as McGee dove right into his computer. Quietly, she walked around Natasha’s desk and looked over her pictures. There was the photo of when Mike Franks was still with the team, he with Gibbs and Natasha. Then there was one with Gibbs, Jenny, and Natasha, obviously from their mission in Paris. And then there was the one of her posing with people she didn’t know –
She frowned. People she didn’t know?
"The people I don’t recognize," she whispered. Instantly, she snagged the photo and raced down to her lab.
She had a photo to dissect, and quickly.

So Natasha's dying, Loki was the killer, and now NCIS is on the move! And for people who don't know, the Kyle Boone case was about a serial rapist that killed women and took their tongues as trophies. *shudders* It's gross to think about. But Natasha was the only survivor and was scarred for life by that experience. Kind of obvious why she's going, right? Anyway, hope you guys like!
And yet another dedication to KatieGuinn who guessed yet another unknown POV from the last chapter that was in this one, too. The final Avenger POV from this story was . . . *dramatic music here* . . . THOR! :) Good job, girl!
