Chapter 4
Achilles and Hector looked at their old garment in wonder. They were surprised they had withstood the test of time. Diana was careful to look over each item of clothing. Including her own mourning shroud. It wasn't the easiest thing for her to look at but she did it.
"They were apparently kept hidden by Queen Livitica, she ruled until the ripe old age of 40 and died of...a snake bite? Jees that sucks. Anyway but that's the only thing it says about the clothes other than the maybe owners. Hector, King of Troy, apparently the Queen's father. Achilles, hey he's the one who had the weak ankles or something like that. And mystery queen." The intern read off the list to Diana and the other two.
"Diana." Both Achilles and Hector say her name.
"Right, sure, Queen Diana. Doubt she cares, they're all dead anyway. The replica's are ready to be put on the manikins with the real ones in their cases." the intern says and then walks off.
"That's just awful to look at knowing that I died in that, my body was once in that. I remember everything, including the pain." Diana expressed as she tried to keep her strength.
Achilles came up and took her hand in his.
"It won't happen again, we're not leaving you." Achilles tries to comfort her.
"We will get back and kill that fool of a king before he can even mutter your name." Hector agrees.
Diana nods as a few men come and take the artifacts away. Just as they are about to leave the room a fat old man who happens to look a lot like agamemnon walks in and he is angry.
"How dare you! Sleep with my daughter to use our family's most treasured possessions!" the old man roared looking right at Achilles.
Achilles was quickly getting tired of this. He hadn't slept with the girl, just maybe an alter ego form of him did? He didn't know how to explain it, even if it was explainable. The man tapped his foot waiting for an explanation.
"I don't think you want to bring up the true reason you possess these garments do you?" Diana challenged.
"I beg your pardon young lady?!" the man yelled back at her.
"According to my research and your genealogy, you are a descendant of Agamemnon are you not?" Diana said and both Hector and Achilles caught on.
"I fail to see what that has to do with this situation." he scoffs.
"Your ancestor tried to murder Queen Diana, according to multiple reliable sources. However he never served any time nor was brought to punishment yet your family just happens to have their clothing? The clothing of three missing people? Seems a bit suspicious." Diana continues.
"Four, they forgot the other woman's daddy." a woman comes up with what looks just like Meg's dress in her hands.
"Felicia, enough. They can't have these, they are family heirlooms." the man points out to his daughter.
"Daddy, they're old clothes from some story grandpa used to tell." the girl rolled her eyes as she handed the box to Achilles. "Let it go dad, you aren't the guy grandpa talked about sheesh."
The old man gasped in shock at his daughter and quickly left the room with her but Diana felt something off about that man. Looking down at the dress Meg had worn, she couldn't help but wonder where Meg was if not here?
"We have to find a way to get back, anything else on the back of that portrait?" Hector asked as Diana took the portrait out and placed it under a light.
Looking very careful through the marking on the back, all she could read was what Henry had read before. It didn't mention anything about going back to the past. Just remembering the lives they once had.
"No, as it does say it is the spell that combines the souls and memories." Diana sighed as she took off her glasses. "Is there anyway your mother left a clue or by some miracle is in this time?"
"I haven't heard from her since the past, if she were here, I think she would have been able to find us." Achilles said as he paced the room.
"She said Diana's time in the past was done, the future was calling her back. Then she sent us back, you don't think she meant for us to stay at this time do you?" Hector questioned both Diana and Achilles.
That wasn't too far fetched but...why? Of all times why would Achilles mother have wanted them to stay in the future? Sometimes Diana couldn't help but think the future was worse than the past. Using Alex's drivers license Diana managed to find his luxury apartment. Opening the door she was shocked to find it was spotless. Then she thought to herself that he probably had a maid to pick up after him.
"Diana...I don't want to stay at this time. I want to be with Livitica." Hector sighed as he went to a chair and plopped down.
"I can agree with you on that, I miss Alec so much and little Livitica. Knowing she dies without either of us and from a snake bite. I can't even imagine." Diana sighed as she plopped down on the couch beside Hector.
Achilles agreed with both of them, he missed his son as well as his mother and family. It didn't feel right to think that his mother wanted them to stay in this time. Walking to the mirror Achilles began to call out to his mother, first it started soft like her was trying to beg her to come forward and then he got angrier.
"Achilles, oh my dear child, the spell went wrong. I've been looking for your souls for decades. To the point my mortal body could not dwell upon the earth any longer. You do not know how happy I am to see you." Thetis smiled looking at her son through the mirror.
"How did the spell go wrong?" Hector asked as he stood up.
"I'm not sure, someone must have been trying to lower my magical power and change where Hector and Achilles ended up. Looks like it worked." Thetis sighed disappointed in her magic.
"Can we go back?" Diana asked as she came to the mirror.
"I am trying every way possible from where I am to send you back, I fear you must return to where you were taken to the past from the start." Thetis explains.
"That was the middle of the ocean, in Greece." Diana sighed confused how that would help them.
"Then we need to go there tonight." Hector said with an authoritative tone.
"Which of you will follow her? That will be who stays with her in the past." Thetis says criptically.
Blinking Diana looked at both of the men. Did that mean she would have to choose now? She was about to marry Hector before she was killed, then suddenly disappeared from time and history. Deep down she knew she loved them both and her heart broke even daring to think of deciding between the both of them.
"Mother, that is for another time. First we need to get to the right location." Achilles says as he looks around the house. "Pack what items we may need."
"I'll do that, you have no idea what to look for." Diana rolled her eyes.
Grabbing a large duffle bag, she began to pack both mens and womens clothes she happened to find in Alex's closet. No doubt gifts for his many women whenever he messed up with one of them. Glancing at his desk, Diana saw a sketch. Walking up to the desk, she looked down and saw the sketch was over her at her desk looking over a document. Alex had been watching her?
"Where will we find gold to travel with?" Hector called out.
Diana walked up to Achilles and reached right into his pocket. She pulled out a strange square object to both Hector and Achilles and opened it up. She pulled out a shiny square object followed by a few others. Then she showed them an odd green material.
"Alex is rich, we will fly on his dime." Diana chuckled.
"With that? What is that?" Achilles wondered.
"Credit cards and money. You won't need to worry about them in the past, they act kind of just like gold." Diana explained as she stopped and looked at herself in the mirror. "Business casual will not work, guys find something that will help us blend in more."
Going to the gift closet she found earlier, she managed to grab a long white summer dress and put it on. She dared to look at the price tag and saw it cost $1,000.00. Well, she had never worn something so expensive in her life. She quickly grabbed a shirt for both the guys as well as a pair of casual pants. They needed to blend in but also look loaded thanks to Alex's background.
"I need to bathe, I smell like...I don't even know what the word is." Achilles said as he began to take off his shirt.
Hector rolled his eyes at Achilles' actions as he looked over at Diana who led him to the bathroom, that is, after she found it. Stepping into the bathroom, all the lights went on and the large master bathroom was there before them. It was rather large with a giant shower. Diana went to the shower and turned it on only to turn around and face a fully nude Achilles who just stood there waiting for her to move. Quickly Diana looked up trying to avoid looking at him.
"What are you doing?" Diana asked, shocked.
"About to bathe? Why do you look up?" Achilles now asked.
"Trying not to look at you naked."
"You've seen all of me before, how else do you think we made Alec?" Achilles whispered as he came right up to her ear. "Don't tell me you've forgotten that."
Diana hadn't forgotten, in fact she had often had dreams of said event. Instead she looked right at Achilles. All the heat from her body and the shower behind her seemed to rush to her face.
"I haven't forgotten." she mumbled looking at him.
"I cannot hear you." Achilles said and his hot breath on Diana's ear made the goosebumps on her arms rise.
"I remember it, probably better than I should." she admitted.
Achilles wrapped his hand behind her neck and brought her right to him. Passionately kissing her right there in the bathroom. Diana was unsure what to do but her body seemed to agree with the action Achilles was doing. Her lips replied to him as she felt his free arm slip behind her. He pulled away and looked down at her.
"No matter what he tells you, I loved you first." Achilles said as he gently pulled away and went into the shower.
Diana walked out of the bathroom and saw Hector was changing his shirt and she could see his naked back. Granted she saw much more of Achilles than she was Hector right now but she couldn't complain. Both of the men were truly like gods carved out of marble.
"Diana? Why do you stand so far away from me?" Hector called out as he turned around. "Are you well?"
"I'm getting there, just know that when we do figure this out, I have a big decision to make. It's not something to think of lightly." Diana sighs as she walks up to him.
"I know how your heart hurts to think of going back without our child, but we may be able to have another, after we are married in private. I will not take any chances again." Hector said, taking Diana into his arms and embracing her.
Well...this is complicated isn't it Diana thought to herself.
