Final Chapter: I'd Die For You
Theres a reference in here to celebrate the final chapter!
Also, an amazing friend of mine made artwork for this Ignition and Remedy. It is the 3 stages of the Reader our artist imagined throughout this book series. The artist imagined our 'reader' with blonde hair like her father Toshi. Later on is her dressed up like Zack just like book 1. Stage 2 is when she donned her new villain identity as Ark. Stage 3 is Reader currently as of now. She has black hair through the explanation of the artist that she is Aizawa's daughter now but also because she's accepted her new image as a neutral hero.
I love it whenever you guys send me art of your ocs interacting with the story!!! You don't understand how much it turns me into a fan girl!
Reveling in the achievement of standing as one of the top two students in class sure was like a dream come true. Although you've never had the goal of becoming the best pro hero just like your father All Might, such a title doesn't seem all too far out of reach compared to earlier this year.
Just like what Bakugou loves to say: you've came a long way since the first day of school.
Now you're both sharing the hotseat in a grand new internship. Hawks never planned to mentor anyone, but his feathery heart has the biggest soft spot for two things: Chicken Nuggets and You. Hawks understood how much your heart would beat for Bakugou. It wouldn't tick in rhythm like a metronome, instead it was explosive beats like popping popcorn to a hot microwave.
Walking hand in hand, you were dressed in a uniform of white to Bakugou's black and green. Off to the location of Hawks' first dual internship. "I'm gonna warn you right now Bakugou, Hawks is a... Free bird so to speak. It's like Kirishima times twelve so you need to-"
"I thought Endeavor was your mentor, not this shady ass chicken boy," Bakugou so rightfully interrupted you. He never agreed to this internship, you did it for him! The only thing keeping him here is the assumption you're still training under the current Number One Hero.
You puffed out your cheeks, "Endeavor still trains me... Loosely. Key word loosely."
"(Y/n)," Bakugou growled.
"Endeavor's dealing with top secret stuff right now and he got really hurt by a villain recently," the scowling man had a large bandage that covered the entirety of the left side of his face. Endeavor refused to speak about the incident besides it involved a villain. "Hawks is filling in until he has things under control. I know you can get by that can't you Bakugou?"
As badly as Bakugou wants to jump into a bus and steam roll Hawks, the man is only doing what's right. "I can deal with him for now," the boy turned the other cheek. "If I can't... YOU owe me. I didn't agree to this remember that."
"I know sorry. I just wanted us to do something together and highly doubt you'd ever go back to Best Jeanist," just mentioning that name gave Bakugou the shivers.
"I do hate that guy..." Bakugou felt up his hair. It was all to make sure his hair was in disarray instead of being smoothed down in a comb over.
You grinned, "then consider this decision-"
"Hawk..." Bakugou froze in place, staring dead ahead.
Your survelant orbs sketched his line of sight where Hawks was descending from the air in a tucked wing torpedo! His scarlet wings unfurled themselves from his body just before the ground whereas Hawks landed with one knee to the ground the other his boot. The man stood up, whipping his head of blonde back with a tasteful smirk. "Hey Arky and..." Hawks paused upon first glance at your boyfriend. "Got a Hero name or should I just call you Bakugou like she does?"
"Ground Zero... And I don't give a fuck."
Your hand smacked his built chest, "I thought you were cutting down on the language."
"I don't give a heck..." Bakugou corrected himself upon your needful reminder.
"Better," you shrugged.
"Look lovebirds, I'm afraid we can't... Well... Go and have fun today! I got other... Stuff to do," drowning in nervousness, Hawks began to wear a crooked smile. Either he's lying, or he's ashamed to bring the news in such a rash manner.
"What stuff? Is it something we can both help you out with?" You asked in concern.
"Investigation and no... Please keep out of it. You two can have the day off all that I ask is that nobody gets involved," that smile from earlier, Hawks was faking it. He's internally fighting with himself.
"You found the guy who hurt Endeavor didn't you?"
"I never lost him..." Hawks let's out the sigh that alleviated the weight upon the chest that suffocated him. "The man who hurt Enji is a friend of mine... We weren't supposed to be friends, though he was comfortable enough with me to sell out secrets of the League. I finally have the courage to confront him about it. I know you understand Arky, not sure about you though," Hawks turned to Bakugou for a sense of acceptance, instead, you're beginning to think that Hawks is searching guidance around the situation instead of facing it head on.
Bakugou well, he doesn't approve of Hawks' decision to face the enemy alone. Deep down however, Bakugou gave the man his complete respect. "It may be easy to beat down anyone, especially someone you don't know. That's what being a hero is, to me at least. To beat down villains who hurt the innocent. When that villain is your friend, all of those beliefs go away and your reasoning becomes shit... I'm guilty of it. You better have all the courage in the world cause this isn't easy Hawks..."
"Bakugou..." You stared at the boy in awe. Although recently, Bakugou fought you without a problem. You understood that he was hinting to the brief time when you joined the League of Villains. Everybody has their fights, some are for fun, some are for just cause. That fight you had with Bakugou was neither of those. Bakugou did nothing wrong, you were out for blood. He knew full and well you mentally weren't his friend anymore and that was what broke his heart. Bakugou couldn't bring himself to fight you, and that's the point Bakugou is trying to explain to Hawks.
Friends fight. But nothing hurts more than to lose a friend for good.
Hawks leaned down, his lips just inches from your ear. "I see why you love him."
"Thanks," you whispered back.
"I needed someone with me when we fought back then (Y/n)," that person was Shoto. Bakugou didn't ask for his help then, but the thought was highly appreciated. "Hawks... You need us," Bakugou determined for the greater good.
"Three is better than one," you sang.
"Let me go in first, if I need help, cover me... Got it?" Hawks held out his hand straight out before him as the three of you stood in a circle.
Your hand went atop of his, "I can get by that condition."
"You're gonna make me get involved," Bakugou lazily lied his gloved hand over your own. "Let's kill this bag of..." The boys trailed off, his language filter was of top priority.
"Dicks?" You hummed. "Go ahead, say it. If you're gonna beat someone up you might as well be honest."
"Bag of dicks," Bakugou smirked. "Well... What are we waiting for? We got a dickbag to kill!"
"We're meeting in a public place. Short notice, sorry, but either hide or change out of uniform," Hawks gave out his precaution. It's a rather smart idea of his, his smartest one in a long while.
You only shrugged, to walk around like a hero when shit's about to go down isn't smart. You need to blend in, attack when the villain least expects it. "Luckily we're close by Aizawa's house. I can just change cause all I really need are my gauntlets to fight. Maybe you can borrow some of Aizawa's clothes?" That was a suggestion for Bakugou. While your hero uniform doesn't blend in the best, Bakugou stands out more than a blemish on a clear face.
"How soon is the meet up?" Bakugou peeled the mask of black from his face. He smudged his black eyeliner in the process. No wonder why his mask would look like it fits his face perfectly.
"An hour," Hawks peered at the clock on his phone.
"We moved into the dorms... Can you even get into your house?"
"I know where Dad keeps the spare key."
With a quick sprint over to your home, the 'spare' key was actually your own quirk. Your finger liquified, flooding into the locking mechanism and quite simply picked the lock. The house was cold, dark, furniture covered in a sheet of dust. Who knew that in the span of a month one house could become so lifeless.
A-ACHOO!!! You sniffled closing the front door. Bakugou flipped the lightswitch to dawn some light onto the dark but nothing came except a click. Even the electricity was shut off. This house was shut down, Aizawa thought of everything.
"I'm gonna go change! You know where Aizawa's room is," Bakugou mimicked your words in a mockish way and did as told. You made sure to take your time with the outfit. It had to be something comfortable enough to fight within yet it had to be able to conceal your weapons too. A long decision later, came athletic leggings, a t-shirt and an oversized hoodie that's easy to shed on a moment's notice. Comfortable and low-key.
"I'm ready-"
"His clothes don't fit..." Bakugou wretched pulling at the collar of his black short sleeve shirt with one finger. The shirt tightly clung to his chest, sketching out every little dip and curve of his body, while the lower you went the article of clothing became gradually looser. The sleeves were hiked up slightly as his muscles were too large for the holes. Meanwhile the jeans were baggy, but it did go with the shirt almost perfectly. His gloves were tucked into the back pockets. The boot from his uniform were also kept. This look was too captivating...
"I say it fits perfectly," you bit your lip to hide your satisfied smile.
Bakugou took the smile as one of seduction. "I was gonna change... Forget about that now," he released the collar stuffing his hands into his pockets. "Since you like it so much, we're going on a date after we deal with Hawks."
"You've been in a good mood lately," you glanced in the opposite direction all to try and distract from the blush on your cheeks.
"As much as you piss me off half the time, you make me feel..." Bakugou paused in the search for words that never aid him. "Good."
As if you weren't already swooning head over heels. "Minus the language, we're equals and we didn't need that fight the other day to tell us that," trying to be harmful with your boyfriend, Bakugou chuckled to your words while pressing his forehead to yours. "Plus, you know they say searching for love is like searching for yourself," your lips hovered Bakugou's. You gave him nothing though, pretending to steal a kiss only to run away.
The blonde tried to catch you by the hood as you fled, "bitch get back here!"
"Hawks first, then we can kiss for hours if we so desire! Now come on!!!"
"Fuck..." Bakugou ran out of the home, threw the door to a rattling close, and followed. The two of you really wasted time at the house and now there's only a few moments before Hawks claims to start a fight with a villain even Endeavor couldn't best. The main priority upon meeting up at the destined location, town square, it was right where Bakugou, Midoriya, Kirishima and yourself stood side by side watching All Might's final heroic moments weeks before. Hawks couldn't stress how badly you and Bakugou needed to clear out the area. Hawks already did most of the work though since he stands out as a Pro Hero while your status is nothing.
Bakugou had the time of his life scaring the pedestrians out of their skin. The tactic worked with maximum efficiency and very few people dared to pass through. However, some people had to cross walk this dangerous area. If you're expected to blend in, there has to be somewhat of a crowd.
"Time," your phone 'pinged' marking that an hour has passed. Hawks lied low propped his back against a building. Bakugou had taken it upon himself to throw an arm around your shoulders and wear one of his most genuine smiles. He's playing the lovers madly in love role as a disguise, and he doesn't even need to try cause it felt natural. Your head rested against his shoulder on it's own and your arm embraced his waist loosely.
"GroundZero and my little Birdie," Hawks fawned at the sight creating a heart formation with his hands.
"I'm here Bird Brains..." Tuts a man wearing a black hood. He was observant, gandering around the metropolitan city that always looked one step ahead over the future of technology. Normally, the Square is bustling with people rubbing shoulders. "The square seems pretty quiet today..." The target noticed the inevitable a little too soon.
"It is a weekday..." Hawks pulled out a feather he had plucked from his wings and held it at the man's throat. "Filthy scum... You're a disgrace for crossing me and hurting Enji."
"The guy showed," Bakugou hissed slowing down the walking pace. It was an almost literal shady figure, all dressed in casual black clothes: ripped black jeans that cut off above the ankles, thin black hooded jacket and a white shirt that peeked out from beneath. It was easy to distinguish that the jacket was made of a thin fabric, the limbs were emanating a misty grey smoke of small abundance like steam from a hot dish. Unfortunately, the man's face couldn't be seen from behind the hood.
You brought out your cell phone, holding it out before you in camera mode. "Pretend we're taking selfies okay..." You whispered, zooming in on the screen to get a better look at the mystery man. Bakugou squeezed in, examining the shot. It was only making everything worst. Everything was blurry, pixelated beyond recognition. The only thing distinguishable was forward slouch and skin color through his hands and showing ankles. He was either was black or had a mutant type quirk cause his skin was a deep purple, maybe even a semi-pale brown. An odd color for sure.
"His posture... I've seen it before," the villain stood slouched over just enough to no longer be considered straight with hands buried within his pants pockets. Besides Bakugou, who does this on a daily basis, someone else was grinding your gears.
Bakugou agreed with you, "looks like Aizawa to me."
"He does slouch..." You paused. "But no... We've seen this guy before-" The slouched posture, wearing mostly black, pants that cut off at the wrong length, the dark skin, the black smoke. If you put all the hints together, you get one man. "We need to clear the area completely. It's gonna turn into hell the second it starts," pulling on your sleeves, the hoodie had to leave!
"Am I missing something?" Bakugou snapped.
"It's Dabi..." You whispered the quietest your voice could usher.
"Fuck..."
"I'm stopping him before it can start!" Shedding the hoodie, you aimed one of your braces at the man of flames and pulled the trigger! The arrow shot out, zipping through the air in a whistling howl. Dabi heard the howl, the silver tip glinting within the light. He engulfed his entire scarred body in those brilliant blue flames, melting the arrow on the spot. The coil whipped back in response, snapping your forehead. The shock forced your entire body to collapse!
"(Y/n)!" Bakugou dropped to his knees the instant you began to fall. You're stunned, trembling, crimson gushed from the lash just above your left eye. Bakugou wiped away the endless flow of blood as you tries to open your eyes. The left eye saw nothing but red. "I've never seen you fall like that, how bad are you hurt?" Bakugou pressed his hand to the lash.
"It feels... It feels like my head is being split open," you whimpered in a struggle to sit up. Blood was beginning to dribble down Bakugou's arm.
"Long time no see Ark," Dabi chuckled. His feet made slow yet long strides in your direction.
"They know each other..." Hawks' head began hurting at that grim realization.
"Asshole you're gonna fucking pay for this!!!" Bakugou hissed.
"Oh," Dabi smirked. "I see you're still her bitch."
"Why you..." Bakugou removed himself from your aid. The gloves came out, and he pulled them on with the most smoldering hot glare Dabi has ever seen.
"Bakugou... Don't," you groaned.
"I thought Handy-Man was a pain in my ass but you keep coming back!" Bakugou threw a punch at Dabi, who dodged, and threw another one back. Bakugou just barely evaded and threw an explosion into Dabi's face.
The smoke cleared with an ignition of blue flames. Dabi's cheek was burnt raw. "Lucky me that Tomura hates you now cause I get the pleasure of killing you myself!!!" The man cackled.
Dabi's flames flooded the surrounding area. He was going to take everyone down in one attack. The flames couldn't withstand this sudden intense pressure that played upon the field as if gravity was turned up tenfold. "Zero!!!" Hawks called out from above. Bakugou found the man flying above the air, flapping his wings rapidly to extinguish the flames.
"The one time he's useful," Bakugou snickered.
"I don't need fire to fight," Dabi taunted his rival.
"I'd like to see you try," Bakugou reeled his arm and threw it back like a slingshot! Dabi threw up his arms to shield his face and took the series of punches. Hawks made sure to keep the whirlwinds coming. Dabi took his openings, sneaking in a punch or two, nobody was getting anywhere with winds that immobilized your movements too much. Even when one person would successfully land a punch it didn't hurt half as bad as it should.
"Tell me Bakugou... You like being whipped around like a bitch," Dabi sneered. His scarred hand took a handful of Bakugou's hair into it's grasp. Bakugou tried scratching and pulling at his hands to free himself but the grasp was lock tight. "Shouldn't have left the League," Dabi kneeled Bakugou in the chest. "It got annoying how bitchy Ark would get over you then," another knee to the chest, Bakugou was coughing blood. "There's nothing I want more than to burn you both alive," Dabi, appreciating his upper hand by throwing Bakugou onto the ground. His foot stomped into Bakugou's back, grabbing him by one arm and forced the limb too far backwards rendering the blonde helpless to escape.
"Zero!" Hawks dove down from the sky.
"Zero?" Dabi hummed. "Sounds like a perfect name for a hero who'll always be a zero..." Dabi turned, to where you sat on the pavement meters away. You were still pressing a hand to your open wound, crimson painting the entire left side of your face. Even then, your full attention was on the fight with one large shocked eye and a heart pounding with tension. Dabi found himself smiling, the arm that held Bakugou's arm ignites and burned with intensity.
Those flames, they ate away at the flesh of Bakugou's arm. Bakugou bite his lip, drawing blood, trying with all his might to suppress a scream. That dam broke less than three seconds later and when his screams made themselves known, they shook the atmosphere. He's being burned alive. You've never heard Bakugou wail out in such agonizing torturous pain and you'd pay anything to make it all end.
"Bakugou..." A tear fled your eye.
Hawks dove in, his wings weren't opening up. He was gonna take Dabi out like a torpedo! Dabi released Bakugou, staring at Hawks with this unimpressed scowl. Hawks clashed with Dabi, speeding off. "Save us Hawks..." You nearly hiccupped and used your quirk to patch up your lash for now with a makeshift steel patch job just like you did for Bakugou in the mountains way back when. The bleeding was suppressed, for now. Nothing permanent. Just enough to recollect and scramble on over to Bakugou who lied on the ground trembling with the overbearing pain of a charred arm. "Bakugou... B-B-Bakugou I-I'm calling for help. We're all gonna die at this rate-"
"Just get the fuck out of here," Bakugou's jaw could just barely move.
"I'm not leaving you..." Bakugou couldn't pull his eyes from the tears that streamed down your face.
"Then act like a fucking hero..." He forced his eyes to a close and took the deepest breaths. "Quit crying, smile like you said you'd do just like All Might... And... Fight. Don't tell me you can't," if you're here to help, then fight till the last breath. As long as everyone's safe...
"I'll fight," the corners of your mouth began to arch into a smile, that reassuring smile you inherited from the former Number One. The smile faded away almost as soon as it was conceived for Hawks was smoking mess that lied on the ground at Dabi's feet. You couldn't have been talking to Bakugou for more than thirty seconds, Hawks was defeated so soon? "No... I defeated Endeavor... Technically. I can defeat you," your hands were made into fists. "Its just a little extra heat right?"
Dabi snorts, "you make me laugh."
"A little extra heat..." The words echoed within your mind over the scarred images of poorly defeated Bakugou and Hawks. They just lie there succumbing to pain. The monster burnt them just enough to keep them alive for a slow and painful death. Then, all those times back in the League when Dabi would torture you just for the fun of it. Dabi was a demon compared to Shigaraki. All for One healed your body of all those burn scars from Kaminari, a fresh start free of bad memories. The scars that remain were from the blue demon himself.
Think of all the lessons from everyone you've met in just the span of almost two semesters.
From Toshinori: To smile in the face of danger.
From Aizawa: You'll never win if you don't try.
From Endeavor: Fight each fight as if it's your last
From Hawks: Live each day as if it's your last.
From Kirishima: Strength. You can't win a fight with skill alone.
From Shinsou: You don't need a badass quirk or a heroic image in order to become a hero.
From Mom & Zack: Turn your abnormalities and weaknesses into your strengths. Sometimes it means doing the wrong things in order to do what's right.
From Bakugou: Villain, Friend, what's the difference? Protect the person in need even if it means fighting till your very last breath.
"My quirk still can't withstand hot temperatures very well, I stand no chance. But I'll die for the safety of everyone here," while you wish deeply that the bystanders would run away for safety instead of witnessing the brawl to the death, you still have a job to do.
This abundance of energy began to course through your veins like electricity being carried from head to toe. It was soothing, yet revitalizing.
A hero...
True hero...
Help...
You need to borrow help...
Borrow your friend...
A series of voices spoke one after the other clear as day within your head. They were suggesting the use of a helping aid in this fight when your chances of success were very low. The energy was building up within your dominant hand, it felt almost... Drained, desperate for more power. The thirst for power intensified when your orbs traced Bakugou's helpless form.
Borrow your friend...
It's the only way you'll stand a chance...
The voiced began to repeat. Somehow, you knew what to do, as if you've done it a million times before. Your body knelt down, brushing the blonde out of Bakugou's stressful face. Your palm was pressed to his forehead, a wave of light coated Bakugou's body and faded as it was absorbed into your own until there was nothing. Your body was pulsing, vibrating, like it could explode.
Your palms began sweating. As was your forehead. "Why am I sweating?" You wretched.
"I'm just too hot for you," Dabi joked around. "Now let's end this once and for all-"
BOOM!
An explosion ripped from your hands right into Dabi's unexpecting face. He was thrown a few meters away. Your arms on the other hand, they were blazing with pain from the backlash of the explosion.
Dabi struggled to get back to his feet, his face not looking the prettiest after the second explosion to the face today. "No... What!?" He snapped.
"Borrow your friend," you awed. The voices, they helped you! But really, how could someone take away a quirk so easily? Dabi's shocked confusion only became more relatable by the second.
Your rival only shook his head out to refocus. "You're dead!" The man began the process as engulf his own body in flames. A smell strangely reminiscent of the time you got burnt alive began to fill the air. Smoke but also faint charcoal. That's what burning skin smells like, it only made your stomach churn.
"I'd like to see you try!" You taunted in return. A stream of fire shot out from Dabi's fiery bubble. You dodge rolled out of the way and kept running. The attacks kept coming, no distance was gained, your other wrist brace aimed for the nearest building and propelled you through the air above the mess. The arrow was recalled just as you passed overhead, turning the entire body metal and fell freely like an anvil in old cartoons. The warmth of the flames were bearable at first, then uncomfortable, you had to get out of his bubble! An explosion and the flames were gone! Dabi dodged, your attack and came again. His hand was the only thing lit as he aimed for your face. Your iron fist crashed with his, a sickening crackling noise came from him.
Although visually in pain, Dabi stood his ground. "Just stop, we all know where this is gonna end," you held out your hand expecting a truce. "You won't terrorize me anymore and I hold the potential to kill you and much more so accept fate and give in."
"Yeah... Fuck that," Dabi spun around and ran. Of course, you ran after the villain. Dabi was running right where Bakugou lied, his hand aflame.
"No!" You aimed your brace at the man. The arrow shot out, red flames and all, upon a conjured track of steel and impaled Dabi through the shoulder. The coil had him reeling back to where you stood. Before he could use fire to break the coil, your other hand hosed him down in steel that hardened upon contact to his body and didn't stop till you knew he could never escape even if he tried.
Dabi was finally defeated by (Y/n) Yagi aka Ark the Iron Fist.
"I told you to stop... Look at you now..." You mocked Dabi for he so deserved it. Your right hand reached out, brushing up against the crispy raven hair that covered Dabi's forehead. Your palm pressed to him, your heart was pacing like crazy. "Now I'll make sure you never hurt anyone ever again," that bright light that made up a person's quirk flashed before your eyes within Dabi. The quirk gradually died out from his body to become your own.
Your body was on fire, the body temp just seembed to skyrocket until...
Everything went black.
Everything afterwards was a blur. Nothing ever really came together besides a setting whenever everything wasn't an endless expanse of black nothingness. A pale yellow room, a white bed, and the endless monotonous beep of machines: a hospital.
The trade off from quiet black to high pitched yellow was endlessly repeating. Until one day, your mind had decide you've had enough and wanted to be part of reality for the rest of time.
Eyes that fluttered open to the pale yellow drywall and blaring television in the middle of it. Your words were choked out, gasses were being forced into your lungs, the drowned out beeps of the machines picked up in speed. Next thing you knew, a hand with long slender fingers removed a clear mask from your face with breathing going back to a regular.
"Its..." You began to speak, voice so frail. "Its so hot..." Your body was burning with this miserable warmth just like you'd be after opening a preheated over.
"Here..." A gentle male pulled the thick bed covers off from your body. "Does that feel better Baby-Girl?"
Why does that nickname break your heart? "D-Dad..." A stray tear left you heavy lidded eyes just seeing that scrawny blonde man with the biggest smile in the universe. "I missed you... But why? I don't... I don't understand why I'm in a hospital-"
"You fought a dangerous villain Baby and well... You won," Toshinori applauded your achievement.
"But you're in the hospital because your head was split open," Aizawa, sat in a chair in the corner of the room, he kept the most fiercely bored expression just as he usually does. "(Y/n)... Next time your head is split open don't cement it back together."
"I tried to capture Dabi before... Before he could hurt Hawks and... And... And the coil on my brace broke and yeah... I couldn't let everyone die so I did what I had to do," that was the big run down of what happened out there... "How long ago was that?"
"Two weeks ago," Aizawa admits.
"Oh..."
"The good thing is..." Aizawa pressed a hand to his mouth with his eyes squeezed shut.
"Dad you're crying..." You began to cry with him.
"The good thing is you're not dead and you saved countless lives that day," Aizawa got up and excused himself for a moment to recollect himself.
"He's not a person to cry in the open," Toshinori awkwardly sighed.
"Dad... How can I take quirks from people?"
"Wh-what?" He nearly choked.
"Sorry... I was gonna ask about Hawks and Bakugou but I remembered how... How I saved them in the first place. These voices okay... They filled me with energy and told me to borrow Bakugou's quirk... So I did... Then I defeated Dabi with it and took his quirk too cause I don't want him to hurt anyone ever again-"
"These voices... Tell me more," Toshinori was more concerned about other matters.
"They were gentle... Girls and boys..." All this talking was tiring you out quick.
"And the energy?"
"It was like a million emotions at once..."
"Sounds strangely familiar to something Young-Midoriya's asked me about in the past," the man hummed. "Did you ever forfeit your portion of One for All to Midoriya?"
"No," you cocked a brow.
"I have my ideas," Toshinori sat down at your bedside about to give you the rundown. "Those voices would be the past users of One for All, they were guiding you."
"But... How can I take away quirks? I have both Dabi and Bakugou's right now," to prove it, you held out both of your hands. In the left was a weak blue flame, in the right, little pops like firecrackers.
"He wasn't joking..." Toshinori stared at your right hand.
"What?"
"Bakugou claimed to have lost his quirk... Now we know why."
"Oh god..." Your stomach was churning with guilt. "I still don't know how I could take it in the first place and now I want to cry cause i don't what to do..." Bakugou's been running around quirkless for weeks, probably scared half to death too since you've been in and out of comas too.
Toshinori gently held one of your hands. "Look, we can get him down here and you can give the quirk back... Problem solved."
"Okay..." You sniffled.
"I think you can give and take quirks because of well... All for One. I think he somehow passed All for One onto you when I nearly killed him then. I've noticed your eyes are half red and half blue now. Two halves of a good and a bad quirk," that conclusion gave your father the beginnings of a headache. Not because of how confusing it was, rather it was the idea that his own daughter has a notoriously evil quirk at her disposal now.
"A quirk is only bad if used for wrong purposes," you claimed.
"And you're not wrong," Aizawa popped back in. His face was red and puffy.
"So... Was I wrong to take Dabi's quirk? I took it cause I dont want him hurting people. Does that make stealing it right?" So many valid questions for the wrong time.
"I believe you were in the right," Aizawa played along in the heartfelt conversation as is. He's doing a good job at it too.
"Me too!" Toshinori nods vigorously. "It's a greater good decision. Now we have one less villain on the streets."
"Thank you," you couldn't be more proud than to he sitting in a hospital bed now.
"I'll go fetch young Bakugou from school," Toshinori blew you and kiss and left.
"What did I do to have such a wonderful daughter like you?"
"You're tearing up again Aizawa."
"You heard me," and he left again. When he left you alone, it gave you the opportunity to look around the room and might you say you nearly burst into tears again. In the corner table beside the bed was a mountain of get well soon gifts from the entire class back at school, as well as gifts of many from Pro Heroes here in Japan. It was their thank you for saving as many people as you did. A few bouquets of flowers that were near dead but still holding on.
The closest item to grasp was something that you already owned. That brown jacket from the Zack hero uniform and the gold medal Bakugou gave you forever ago. A note sat on top.
I love you. I finally said it okay. I watched you fight Dabi and I want thank you in person. Thought you'd want these while you're recovering. The second you wake up, call me.
~Bakugou
The machines began reacting to the way the note made your heart flutter with life.
Bakugou never did get the chance to see you, or concious to say the least. Toshinori took a long while in the commute from the hospital to UA and back. It was exhaustion that had your body succumb to sleep once more and it was exhaustion that created the unhealthy distance between your boyfriend and yourself. Bakugou came, only to leave as soon as he'd arrive.
Your classmates banked on the idea that you'd wake eventually, sticking around for almost everlasting periods just to sneak in a hello or two. Some had managed to get you in your conscious state. Most not so lucky. Those lucky few were your father figures who almost always were by your side, Midoriya too since he tagged along with All Might but also Todoroki of all people. Those two were best friends, but they had quite an earful.
Just as expected, Bakugou isn't taking anything easy. Sadly, nobody else was either. Without a quirk, Bakugou can't partake in school on most physical subject. Everyone's worried about him. While Bakugou may be a horrible classmate and bully half the time, it's not the same without him.
Bakugou usually spends hours upon hours awaiting for your awakening but always misses out. Whenever he isn't waiting for you, he helps Hawks out often since Hawks is happy to mentor Bakugou quirkless or not. That was one bright side to a grim situation. Then came the shame of being enrolled to a school that can't provide much for him anymore. Most would find him visiting home on most days after school since he can't handle being the weak black sheep of the class.
"What are you doing?" Aizawa had one raven eyebrow cocked at the sight of your senseless struggle to reach the swing out tray beside the bed.
"My phone," you growled. Your fingertips could just barely graze the steel surface.
Aizawa reluctantly parted ways with his claimed chair in the room all to move the device further away. "Doctor said you need to limit screentime," and he had to motion at the patient's medical dry erase board. Of course under 'Treatment' it listed a variety of high grade painkillers and a few instructions in bold:
No phone.
No reading.
Tv at ⬇️ ☀️ is acceptable.
Cause high amounts of brightness and focusing on detail causes too much strain on the eyes which is bad for your head injury.
"I need to call Bakugou. I need to give him his quirk back before he has to quit UA. He's hurting without me..." that realization was too much for one person to handle. Nobody wants to be responsible for the unfortune of another.
Aizawa understood your concern, "he's here in the building. Just let me go get him-"
"Since when?" You jumped.
"A while? He has physical therapy for his arm."
"Oh Right... I forgot about his arm," After Dabi so forcefully burnt his arm to the point of no recognition, it's a miracle Bakugou even still has the arm
"By the way... Don't blame yourself because Bakugou's going through a rough patch," Aizawa was very aware that you've taken all the blame onto yourself for a lost quirk. "His recovery is very tough. It's like learning how to walk all over again. Quirk or not, He can't use his quirk even if he could."
"Am I doing him a favor by holding onto it?" Aizawa nods his head in agreement. "I'm still giving it back to him today."
"I respect your decision," Aizawa would've agreed to just about anything at this point cause theres no right and wrong in this unfortunate position. Nobody can continue school, everybody is recovering in some way shape or form, everything is just stressful.
Your father has been gone for ten minutes now and it took sheer willpower to stay awake while Aizawa was fetching your boyfriend. If your mind isnt occupied, you go into shut down mode. If someone, be it a nurse or a friend, isn't there whenever you wake up at any time your nap goes from an hour long to six. The tv kept the mind, mystified in a way. The channels only had child and teen friendly shows like the news, cartoons, sports, history and nature documentaries. Cartoons was settled upon and whenever the main character asked broke the 4th wall to ask the audience a question and silence filled the air, you wanted to scream the answer for some ungodly reason.
The restraint was visible the second your blonde prince had entered the room. Your face was fierce, mind screaming the answer to the simplistic question. "I know you're a bit fucked in the head right now but... What?" Bakugou had the best 'what the fuck?' Look plastered upon his face. It was intensified when he took a gander at the television's vibrant display of talking woodland animals.
"I need my daily dose of weird since Hawks and Kirishima aren't around," that wasn't the real excuse for watching cartoons. Somehow you're oddly entertained by it.
"Okay then..." Bakugou accepted your excuse. "I thought you were supposed to call me whenever you woke up? I heard you've been talking with Deku and Shoto," seriously? Of all times to get pissed it had to be now.
"I can't use my phone. I'm not even allowed to read," you shot daggers at the boy. "Toshi went and got you the first time I woke up. That's why it was Aizawa today. Shoto and Midoriya just got lucky is all..."
"Sorry," Bakugou got a taste of his own jealousy through your response. "I'd wait hours for you to wake up and I'm one of the last to actually talk with you."
"I see why you're upset cause I've been wanting to see you too," you began to shuffled over within the bed to make room.
Bakugou caught onto you intention, "(Y/n) stop-"
"I want you to sit with me. Is that so wrong to ask?"
Bakugou faintly smiled and came over. He sat down on your right, swinging one leg upon the bed, there wasnt enough room for the other leg so it dangled off to the side. Bakugou's heavily bandaged arm was sandwiched against your side. Only the skin around his wrist was visible through the bandages and it was an oddly dark fleshy pink color. The two of you sat in silence for a moment, appreciating each others company. However, Bakugou had a few things that was getting beneath his skin. "Could you take away quirks this whole time but you never told me? I don't understand how you could do that..."
"The big boss of the League of Villains banked on the idea that I'd still be working under Shigaraki even after the fall of All Might. He passed on his ability to steal and pass on quirks to me just in case something would happen to him and I didn't even know it..." that's the logical assumption you've came to after bouncing some ideas with Toshinori. All for One has been working on his legacy for ages now.
"If I would've never borrowed your quirk Bakugou, I don't think I ever would've won against Dabi. His flames were still burning me," a hand was held out, a small blue ember burned brilliantly. "I even had to take his quirk just to win."
"That's badass," Bakugou grinned. "Remember the time that I said I'd become your hero full time?"
"How could I forget? You saved me and carried me home," your heart ramped up, as did the machines.
"I think the roles flipped."
"I saved you once!"
"But I'm helpless right now... Could you be my hero?" The tips of Bakugou's ears were beat red. He couldn't make your heart melt so quickly more than he was right now.
"Quit being so sweet," you were careful to hold his injured hand. His entire body tensed up, "does that hurt too much?"
"It's uncomfortable," Bakugou lent you his other hand.
"I'm sorry," you took his hand.
"I'm working on it... But you're so hot," your skin felt like the blood was boiling beneath it.
"Its Dabi's quirk that's why," you shrugged. "I say we share the quirk. I give you half of it while I keep the other. Again, without your quirk we would be dead. It's as much yours as it is mine-"
"I'll do you one better," Bakugou brushed a hand over your cheek. "Ill accept the other half if we become heroes together... Partners. I've had a lot of time to think about it and I don't know what I'd do without you (Y/n)," Bakugou's forehead was glossing over in anticipation for an answer. "Look you said we're equals and-"
"No need to explain. YES!!!" Oh my God it feels like he just proposed. Taking away his quirk is the best thing I've ever done!!! "Together I know we can take the Number One spot."
"Technically only one of us can take the top spot and that person will be me."
"You can have it cause right now I couldn't be any happier."
"I'm ready to accept my quirks," the boy smirked.
"Alright," you giggled. Your hand played around with the strands of blonde that clouded his face. You've never seen a boy so happy, as if he was on top of the world. Light collected in the pit of your hand, transferring into his body like electricity the second it pressed to his forehead. Bakugou shook his head vigorously once your hand retracted, shaking out his hands as an intense warmth had his pores leaking sweat. His right hand combusted suddenly with flames, that mirrored purple into his crimson orbs.
"Fuck yeah," he began to grimace.
"Excited much?" Your hand also gave birth to flames.
"Fireproof for the rest of time," Bakugou held out his burning hand.
You took it, the flames conjoined together.
"Partners for the rest of time."
The End
THIS was the official/originally planned ending. However, due to high request I'm writing a few extra chapters as an extension of what happened after Bakugou & (Y/n) decided to become partners and share Dabi's quirk. Basically, I'm writing a second ending. Hope you enjoy!
